Explain Deer Trails…please
@@texmex124 as deer graze thru a field they start to ware a path thur the tree line big enough for a human to walk along, deer trail. I call it that because many of the sites I use for "FDT" essentially look like deer trails.
At the 20 min mark I wish you would have said what theses ruins are
@@texmex124 this is lock 36, there is a green name sign and the cords right before those remnants in the video. M&E canal.
What was the Brooke Site?
@@texmex124 it was a trading hub for the Glacial Kam people predating most known Native Americans
Some people won’t drive this bridge. Looks like a piece of cake
@@texmex124 it wasn't bad, the ice covering it kinda sucked tho.
Where is Grand Army of the Republic Highway in Napoleon?
@@texmex124 us 6/us 24 aka gar highway.
Is this cemetery registered in Find a Grave website
@@texmex124 no it is not.
I just posted a video to my channel about the "Real Covered Bridge of Sleepy Hollow." And I had no idea that there really is a bridge in Ohio called "Sleepy Hollow Covered Bridge." Gorgeous bridge! Thanks for sharing.
Yes sir, I believe it was built in the late 2000's but this community takes really good care of it. I believe its an entrance to a private community, but I can't recall off the top of my head.
@@teamohe Built in the late 2000s?
@@Joelikesmoviesnstuff 2008 or 2009 I believe
@@teamohe Very interesting! Now I wish I knew about this bridge before I started editing my video (and was able to mention this bridge in my video). Thanks!
This bridge is no longer there!, they tore it down. 😢
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅OMG
Love the little restaurant across the street!
This is historic! Do you have more video or pictures of the area without the bridge? Did they take apart the Iron Bridge too?
I do have photos on my facebook page, Ohioans Historical Exploration. Check out the photo albums. I posted the photos the same day I posted this video.
I don't recall seeing an iron bridge here.
RIP Jimmy! A good man, you were there for everyone ! Fond memories!
Please post more things around Henry county it’s so boring here
I agree, not much ever happens here in Henry County, I'll see what I can come up with.
We used to have a covered bridge until someone burned it down.
That's so sad, that is happening more and more these days. Do you know the name of the bridge that was burnt?
@@teamohe Prathers Bridge.
I hear the wind at 4:14. It never stops blowing there it seems. My mom and dad lived in Simoda. You may have seen the small sign as you were heading down toward route 33. They left there in the early 50s to Virginia. I visited last September when I was up to see family.
My opinion just a waste of money
That bridge is narrow. It really should be used as a 1 lane bridge with traffic lights set up at each end.
Agreed, it was a freaky drive.
@@teamoheThere's a bridge in my hometown in Canada similar to that only it has the steel grating on it instead of the pavement. It has since closed permanently back in September 2008 but it still stands pretty much abandoned today. I remember though when I was a kid, I'd be sitting in the front passenger seat of the car and if the window was rolled down, I could very easily reach out and touch the guardrails of the bridge if I wanted to which I didn't. Many people lost their side mirrors on that bridge too so that's one reason why it's no longer in use today
Apparently theyve never been to Athens, Ohio.
Ahhh Ohio. The worst state
Only about 12% of it.
@@teamohe yea it’s just once you leave the city it’s becomes super boring. Yea if you have the money to travel every other week and get to enjoy that country life with mild summers and winters it’s fine
Nice video
Wish the stairs were still there
Wish we could see what it looked like back in the day! Thanks for documenting it in it's current condition
Right now the bridge is closed with no apparent timeline to reopen . But plenty of $$$ to put Mardi Gras lights on the CCC
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 play lord
I love bells like that I have 3 big ones
😨😨😨
Saw your video. Reminded me of Gerry Rafferty. Had to go listen to Baker Street. Thanks.
Very pretty!
Huron county is one of my favorite places to visit with the kids
Woah! That was close! I think I'm going to need therapy now.
Your spillway is a dam which was constructed in the 1930s as a WPA project to maintain a body of water from Independence State Park thru Florida. The Wabash & Erie opened in 1843 to Indiana. The Miami Extension Canal opened in 1845 from Junction OH to Cincinnati. The canal was then renamed the Miami & Erie from Junction to Toledo.
Cool!
It was definitely a good day!
I live in blacksville
When I used to live in San Antonio when Dad was a Major stationed at Fort Sam Houston back in the early 90s, we would visit Big Bend twice a year. I remember us taking US 90 there to Marathon, fun little community outside the park, and we would drive through this little town. It used to have a grocery store there during that time. It was named after Eugene Dryden, one of the creators of the Galveston RR system and was a big ranching community. Sadly, the automobile and The Great Depression killed the ranching and it's pretty much what you see now. Look up real estate in this area and you'll see some whopping figures. The town popped in my mind out of the blue today and I decided to dig deeper into it. There are quite a few vids, I see lol
kelly crozier shoved me this is jason from elmore ohio just to let u know im doing allright i think thats wrong getting shoved i
Show us a video of a sidewalk
Next time I'm in town, I certainly will.
Idk why I expected something to happen...
Those pillars (at the top) mark the height of the water during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. You crossed from Pass Christian in Harrison County to the village of Bay St. Louis in Hancock County. The body of water is the Bay of St. Louis which opens into the Mississippi Sound, which opens into the Gulf of Mexico at the point of the barrier islands that are about 6 miles offshore. When you cross the Pearl River, then you are in Louisiana. Most of the marshes between the two states, along the river, is undeveloped government land and is a very beautiful estuary. If you ever get a chance to tour that river, do. It has very old trees and birding is excellent.
I use to drive across that bridge all the time up till '04 the new bridge they built off from it ramped up water in a flood in the fall of '04 washing the cover bridge off it's foudation I use to have Polaroid pictures of me standing on the roof laying in the Creek, they rebuilt it that bridge it's not all original.
Marstion matting deck. You see a lot of them post world war two. As there was so much of it left over.

Cool!
Can you please make a video about (Veterans Memorial Bridge) between Wells River, Vermont and Woodsville, New Hampshire ?
Next time i get out that way i will!
Beautiful
John Shrake, who built this and many other covered bridges in Ohio, is in my family tree. Three of his bridges survive. His son Plontus Quentus Shrake carried on the tradition in Ohio and West Virginia.
That's pretty awesome! What are the other bridges?
@@teamohe Oops! When I went to verify the location, I see that. according to the Fairfield County Parks website, Shade covered bridge in Berne township, Fairfield county, was demolished in 2022 😞 Barkhurst Mill covered bridge near Chesterhill, OH, still survives, though.
@@MikeDial That's sad, I didn't have a chance to see that, haven't been to the other bridge yet either.
Not too much kick.
Hey Maysville ky bet there is no one pitcher of casto street in Maysville ky from back in the 70s I was raised on that street 216 casto street Maysville ky what us poor ass holes wasn’t worthy of history sad thing when you destroyed that street but nice government building if you find one with the gray old house let me see it
