This guy has not earned the respect that you American think he deserves. He was hopeless. Total joke. If it wasn't for the others stepping in. Italy would of been a disaster. Told to cut the retreating enemy. Instead ignores this, enemy escape. All because he wanted to take Rome. What a fool. No team play by Clarke. Glory hunter only. Cost a lot of good people. Both sides of the Atlantic.

Spartans were heavily armored compared to other hoplites of the time. Everything that isn’t a suit of armor is designed to allow for free movement and agility.

It is not considered a failure. When you move, disrupt or destroy your enemy it IS considered a success. This is basic military doctrine. Check your sources more thoroughly. Market Garden activities destroyed more German military infrastructure and their ability to replenish, than any before it. That’s a recognized major outcome by allied forces. When you cause your enemy to make a change, your efforts are considered successful.

Really something war so terrible but everything must be tested and combed through. Everyone involved to see what they do their behavior. How can they best be corrected considering so much. Can you consider so much? How do mine do. Makes for better futures. Though I really, really question the need for them...least not for awhile war..So much bloody waring in so short of time.. More at the tables. Less at the pack ..
