Moon on 20-Aug-2024 as seen from Phuket Thailand. Camera: Nikon CoolPix P900
Video taken early morning on 20-August 2024 in Phuket Thailand from my Waterside condominium unit balcony. I rose at 5am to take this video. The moon was only visible for less than 10 minutes before clouds blocked the view ... where 10-minutes was barely enough time to wake up and setup my old Nikon CoolPix P900 camera on a camera stand. This being rainy season, I was lucky just to see the moon !

when you use the camera the magnification will be fixed at the maximum magnification of the scope , so 60x
The show is no longer playing. It was a tongue in cheek musical Comedy poking fun at everyone with a bit of a Phuket and Thailand theme
Well it all depends on the setting used, if u use the same setting as in handbrake u got same result, this is misleading.
It is not a simple matter to apply same settings in Handbrake as were applied in ffmpeg. I failed to find any Handbrake settings that could match that were used in ffmpeg in this example. Since you think Handbrake can match the quality, what settings do you propose, knowing one can NOT duplicate such ffmpeg settings within the Handbrake gui.
혹시 svp trancoding ncnn/Vulkan Vs NVIDIA TensorRT 어느게 더 속도와 화질 좋은지 아시나요?

What is the theme and message of the performance?
It was a simple comedy to music poking a bit of fun at Phuket Thailand. They now have different shows playing.
Very amazing 😍 Thank you for this great video👍
hi..I'm trying to improve some videos in different and low formats..roughly in handbrake filters what is best to do? ..without having to go crazy and try again many times..if possible 1080 otherwise a good 720p
For nuovocanale5347: As I noted to "Max", while open to the public, this video was specifically uploaded to show to some friends (who already know a bit about this topic) and it was not intended as some internet 'teaching' aid in general. ... Further I have not looked at this for two years. My computer is VERY old (approaching 10 years old) so any processing on it is VERY slow so I do not have the computer processing power to use any of the newer AI methods. I provided the ffmpeg command parameters I used below in answer to one of the comments.
.. also, I had little success with Handbrake. I obtained better quality with ffmpeg.
Nice

Is this sc001 suitable for night shooting especially planet, star, deep sky object?
@yapgideon - I don't know. I do not use if for that. I think the newer SC311 may be superior for astronomy.
@@leematheson9964 Correct, you need the SC311 for night work and you get more controls when using the SVBony App.
Wow that's very cool. But a bit risky I would of had every one put on life jackets.

Hey Lee..nice stabilization job. This is an old video, but just wondering what your setting were.
@cacasododom: If you assume input video is "DSCN1234.MOV", I use these bash shell 'commands' which create a stabilized video, and create a comparison video : videofile="DSCN1234"; ffmpeg -i $videofile.MOV -vf vidstabdetect=stepsize=6:shakiness=8:accuracy=9:result=transform_vectors.trf -f null -; ffmpeg -i $videofile.MOV -vf vidstabtransform=input=transform_vectors.trf:zoom=1:smoothing=30,unsharp=5:5:0.8:3:3:0.4 -vcodec libx264 -preset slow -tune film -crf 18 -acodec ac3 $videofile-s.mp4; rm transform_vectors.trf; ffmpeg -i $videofile.MOV -i $videofile-s.mp4 -filter_complex "[0:v:0]pad=iw*2:ih[bg]; [bg][1:v:0]overlay=w" $videofile-compare.mp4
How do you view the WiFi feed in VLC?
Honestly? I connected the camera to my laptop computer (running vlc) to check if it could be done for this youtube video - and it works ok. But in practice, I can never be bothered to setup my laptop and connect to the camera when taking an image or a video. ... Its just too inconvenient to move my laptop around. So if I wish to obtain an image with my spotting scope, I use my smartphone with the SC001 and take many images with slightly different focus settings in the hope that 1 of the many images will be in focus. I find that quicker than taking the time to setup my laptop with vlc. ...
I did not use the WiFi feed for VLC. As per the Svbony camera manual, I used the data cable to connect the camera (from its USB-C port) to a USB port on my laptop. The SC001 is a UVC device, so your computer should automatically recognize it (as UVC is a typical standard used in most webcams), making configuring with VLC not too difficult with your laptop PC hardware.
I am a GNU/Linux operating system user for my laptop PC, so its possible the menu selections for me with VLC are different from yours. In my case I connect the SC001 to my laptop PC via a USB cable, when my laptop is powered on. I then switch on the SC001 camera, and I start VLC on my laptop. Then under Media > open network stream ... in the 'open media' dialogue box I went to the "capture device" tab. In the 'capture device" tab, I went to 'capture mode' and selected 'video camera'. Under video device name I selected '/dev/video4' (which is likely a GNU/Linux specific selection and MS-Windows will have different selections). In fact I had a number of different 'videox' selections to choose from (from 0 to 5) and I had to find the correct selection by trial and error. After this the video streamed from the SC001 to my laptop PC running VLC.
one on the right looked like there was more information in the darker areas.
Love it Lee, so atmospheric.
Very beautiful sunset 🤗
Very good, but it is too shake. I recommend you use the GYROVIS stabilized spotting scope. ruclips.net/user/shortsoTrWlkznW8s
I obtain superior quality with my Svbony SC001 camera with the Svbony SV406P spotting scope (and I posted a video about this on my channel). The magnification I get is more than that GYRO VIS. Further with a tripod and the SC001, there is nominally no shake and hence no need to nominally stabilize the video. Also my Nikon CoolPix P900 also obtains a far better video quality ... and again, with a tripod and the camera pointed at a fixed object, there is no need to go for a different spotting scope. ... Typically the only time stabilization is required, is when tracking a moving object.
I bought SC001. but It can't be install to SV406. How to install to SV406? or had to buy another adopter?
I own an SV406P 80ED as posted and further the SC001 'just works' and fits well with the SV406P 80ED. I am not familiar with an "SV406" but I believe the SV406 does NOT support the 1.25" interface ... ie you bought the wrong spotting scope !!! if you wish it to work with an SC001 camera. The 1.25" interface (that comes with an SV406P) is the REASON I bought an SV406P and not an SV406. My recollection is one pays a bit more for the SV406P (over the SV406) and having a 1.25" interface is a big benefit of the SV406P. I do not know how (if it even possible) to get the SC001 to work with an SV406.
@@leematheson9964 I ordered the 80ED as I canceled a Vortex HD which the HD is not ED, Extra Low Dispersion glass at this price is surprising. Had this been HD it would have had chromatic aberration. Thanks for the video, it really helped.
I'm late to this conversation but this might be useful to someone reading the post now. The SC001 can also be mounted on to the SVBONY SV41 25-75x70 MAK Spotting Scope (Maksutov-Cassegrain) with an SA404 adapter add-on. The SA404 can connect 1.25'' or M42 interface like eyepieces. I'm also hearing reports of the SC001 used with telescopes with a 1.25" diagonal. Cheaper refractor telescopes will show more Chromatic Aberration (CA). The more expensive ED glass reduces CA on refractors. Also of note, CA is not a concern for Maksutov-Cassegrain scopes due to scope design.
ruclips.net/video/PvFKX_IA32k/видео.html Here is a link to a youtube video taken of the moon with this Spotting Scope / Camera combination. It was a cloudy evening, so I did not have much time to focus. So I had to start the video before I was fully satisfied with the focus. Hopefully when the sky clears better, I will get better videos/images of the moon with this combination.
Have you taken any more pictures or videos with the sc001?
To me it is unbelievably how much you can zoom in the ship
Cool camera! I bet you should be able to see me in Airdrie from Phuket.
Awesome Lee, and i appreciate the run down of your editing in the description. Colour washout is definitely a pain at longer zooms. Well done mate.
I just purchased this tablet. And found your video very helpful .Thank you .🙂
What would you say is the min. focus distance, would like to use in my back yard?
I have never used it for such short distances so I can't knowledgeably comment.
Hi I am a birder and i will say i had the exact same set up. Near focus i will say is about 6 to 7 metres. It produces excellent images and i could stay a distance from the bird without startling it. I have drop suggestions to come up with a new product with higher mega pixel. Hope you all can help and request for it.
Thank you for the video! Is the fringing and overall violet tint of the images caused by the SC001, or the SV406P itself?
I don't see such .. . Images have had colours brought out in some cases with gimp and videos with kdenlive to overcome standard atmospheric washout ( which occurs even with expensive camerss) from the massive magnifications applied.
@@leematheson9964 like here at 7:16 underneath the boat on its edges. Is it the same when looking through the eyepiece?
@@copetimusmaximus3363 That specific view was partly into sun .. I suspect effects are a combination of scope and camera. Note my Nikon Coolpix P900 did not fare much better with those lighting conditions.
@@copetimusmaximus3363 I took a look at the specific boat you were commenting on (I thought you were commenting on a different boat). The boat (@ 7:16 point in video) actually had bluish/purplse material hanging underneath, so don't confuse that with artifacts. ... I don't see precisely what you allude to in the 7:16 boat image.
can you please give the text or code whatever it is that is need to increase the selected video fps
SVP is an application. You can search for it and use it if you like. In the case of ffmpeg, it is a command line application. For example, lets say you have a 640x480 video at 30 frames per second (called "input.avi"), and you wish to upscale it to 1440x1080 by 120fps. You could decide to 1st do the conversion (to a higher resolution), followed by the frame rate conversion. In which case the code could be the following, where lets assume the original video is called "input.avi": videofile="input"; ffmpeg -i $videofile.avi -vf "scale=1440:1080:flags=bilinear" temp_1080p.mp4; ffmpeg -i temp_1080p.mp4 -filter:v minterpolate -r 120 $videofile"-1080p-120fps".mp4; rm temp_1080p.mp4 The above is just an example. Alternatively you could try the frame rate increase first followed by a resolution increase. Note there are superior apps (that use machine learning) to increase both the resolution and fame rate which should do a far superior job than either ffmpeg or svp. For example rife or dain - however my computers are old and I don't have powerful graphic cards which can do the needed processing.
@@leematheson9964 oh thanks for the info...really Really appreciated
Really interesting. Bye the way, what kind of smartphone adapter did you use?
Honestly - I can't remember. I have a few different ones. None of them are very good and they all require enormous fiddling to be able to digi-scope.
@@leematheson9964 Thanks for the response 🙂 I think I'm going to try an adapter by Neewer, that it's in metal and not plastic as many others.
Share your ffmpeg command
For M ax : While open to the public, this video was specifically uploaded to show to some friends (who already know a bit about this topic) and it was not intended as some internet 'teaching' aid in general. Since you asked, wrt ffmpeg, I played around with the ffmpeg 'lanczos' and 'bilinear' (and some other) superscaling filters (all of which come with ffmpeg). I pretty much concluded that specifying an ffmpeg filter can make it much worse than using default values, and further playing with filters takes time consuming iterations to make a video imperceptibly better - ie when testing with (in my example) increasing the video resolution from 160x120 to 854x640 resolution. Possibly the bilinear algorithm (in ffmpeg scalar) is the best for increasing resolution ... and the command line for that in ffmpeg would be: ffmpeg -i input-video.AVI -vf "scale=854:640:flags=bilinear" output-video.mp4 where in the above example the input video is called "input-video.AVI" and the output video (scaled to 854x60) is named "output-video.mp4" ) . But 'your mileage may vary'. Also, after the resolution improved, one can also obtain a slight further improvement by increasing the frame rate from a low frame rate, to a higher frame rate (ie say from 15 fps to 120 fps): ffmpeg -i inputvideo.mp4 -filter:v minterpolate -r 120 result.mp4
