To travel around Jungfrau region, why not get Jungfrau travel pass?
Being honest I've been up the Jungfraujoch 3 times, the views are amazing but the price now is crazy, last tome I went up was before 2000, couple of extra tips... If you are going to go outside on the viewing platforms or the Glacier or into the ice palace, please do not wear open toed sandals/shoes you will be walking on snow/ice surprisingly this is gold, every time I've been up I've watched people walk out onto the glacier and then run back inside Food in the main structure is eye wateringly expensive you might walk up from the station to the MÖNCHSJOCH HUT it's a 45 to 60 minute walk from the station exit onto the Glacier, follow the signs to the Sphinx observatory but keep going past the lift to the way out, the route is sometimes closed in bad weather and if any crevasses open up, they do a more basic menu there and it's worth doing the walk but it's still expensive because the food is manly delivered by helicopter Do not just apply factor 30-50 sun cream, make sure to update it whilst you are outside, as a teenager I had the skin on my cheeks, nose, lips and forehead peel off because I did not keep applying sunscreen during the day I was up there, I was lucky to have really good sunglasses to protect my eyes. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE
Good job putting this together and I agree with everything you presented. I've visited Switzerland 4 time, most recently May 2024, and the beauty of the country makes me stand in awe. Thanks for providing this info.
my pleasure, thanks for the nice comment!
Thanks for the tips. What about the GA one month card (i have an address to send it to)? Can it be used on the city buses and trams? We will be travelling around Switzerland for about 3 weeks and doing scenic trains as well.
Maybe read the GA page
What would you recommend for a trip 2 days in Interlaken (visit Lautenbrunen, Grindelwald, First mountain, Schilthorn) then move to Zurich ?
Almost impossible to say without way more time and information. Try my free guide switzerlanding.ck.page/trainpassguide
What would you recommend for a trip that includes 5 days in Lucerne, 3 days in Grindelwald, 1 day in Chur and a trip in the Bernina Express from Chur to Tirano? During our stay we will visit a few small towns with Lucerne and Grindelwald as our base.
It's more complex than that, the calculation I do involves the trains and the mountains as both count. But if you want a short version you can grab my quick guide switzerlanding.ck.page/trainpassguide
Do you have a video about the oberland pass?
not yet, but a new blog post switzerlanding.com/pass-changes-2025/
Hi, I plan to go Switzerland near near christmas period. Does zurich have the best christmas market?
I believe so. There are 5+ markets. So lots of options
Stop inviting tourists, migrants will invite themselves.
Hi. I am planning a 5 full day trip. We are 2 adults and a 8 year old. One day in Zurich, one day lucern, 2 days interlaken and one day Zermatt. I found rent a car pretty cheap around 300 for 5 days. I am planning to do Pilatus, Jungfrau and one one scenic train ride. Would half fare card be ok along with my rent a car? Or do you recommend a swiss travel pass?
I would go with the half fare - you can buy it here www.swissrailways.com/en/buy-swiss-half-fare-card?affiliateId=402
@@SwitzerLanding Even the Bernese oberland region half fare should be fine right?

Hi, im travelling to Switzerland end of November and will be arriving in Zurich. Will be in Switzerland for 15 days. My base will be luzern, Geneva, Interlaken and GRIENDALWALD. Im planning to visit Zermatt, Montreux, Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Wengen or maybe Bern as well. Im thinking to buy STP for 15 days. Is this the right choice? Im confuse. Please help me. Thank you.
It's complicated and depends on exactly how many train rides and mountains you visit. The Swiss pass is the easiest option for travel, but not always the cheapest. I have some options on my website to help people decide - switzerlanding.com/swiss-train-pass-guide/ and switzerlanding.com/rail-pass-selection-service/ if you are interested
Thanks so much ❤❤
No problem 😊
Used a swiss interrail pass for a 3 day trip in Chur and StMoritz
Good to know
Great video! Very informative and helpful. Keep it up!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi, I am traveling with me (very elderly) mom and we can't walk for hours or do any trekking or anything like that. So scenery it's very important, I will rent a car and I would love to include some train (even if it's an excursion within a village) so we can enjoy the experience of great views (besides the ones from the car). We will be arriving from Portugal and we would like to see Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken, Grindelwald, Spiez, Zermatt, , Montreux, Neuchâtel, returning to Zurich (so I can return the car). Why is the map not showing me the driving route from Neuchâtel to Zurich? instead is making me go back down and up
No idea
Day 1 - Zurich Day 2-3 - Lucerne Day 4 - 8 - Interlaken Region (incl. going to Jungfraujoch) Which would you say is ideal: STP, Half fare, Berner Oberland Pass, or a combination? I am eligible for youth in all passes. I will be doing a lot of train travel everyday
It's hard to say exactly as it depends on exactly how many train rides and mountains you visit. The Swiss pass is the easiest option for travel, but not always the cheapest. I have some options on my website to help people decide - switzerlanding.com/swiss-train-pass-guide/ and switzerlanding.com/rail-pass-selection-service/ if you are interested. hi, I relly hope you see my comment, Im traveling in octover and after visit the swiss alps. I feel kind of lost with the train that I'm supposed to take from St Moritz to zurich hb, does de day pass include this ride ? and how do I book it after purchase online. please read me. Im trying to find as much info I can but is confusing
Yes it does. And no you dont need to book trains in Switzerland

Hi friend If the pass link to SBB. Can link 2pass in 1 apps ?
Don’t understand
I find your videos interesting and to the point without any fluff, thank you. As per your recommendation I do not see how to return from Jungfrajoch a different way on their web site. How do you book that option?

Hi! Me and my friend are staying in Zurich for three nights and want to make the best of our time in Switzerland but we're also on a tight budget. Ive been looking into different passes and still cant decide which one to choose. We have an rbnb in Zurich Friday-Monday and then i need to meet with someone in Wengen on Monday afternoon so will have to travel from Zurich to Wengen And that will also be pricey😢 What pass do you think would be the best? Or mayne no pass and just regular train to some close spots so we dont break the bank? Thanks in advance!
If you are on a budget then the half fare is the best 90% of the time
Does the return ticket have time bounds ? Planning to travel from Interlaken, so if we take the return trip tickets is there any time restriction of connection from Grindelwald ? Or we can spend sometime in Grindelwald and then take a later train to Interlaken ?
Not 100% sure, check with them info@jungfrau.ch
Does the Good Morning Ticket give you 4 hours? Does it include everything? Can you visit all the attractions?
To be honest I have never checked info@jungfrau.ch
@@SwitzerLanding Thanks
With the Good Morning ticket you must leave Jungfraujoch by 13:17, however you can take as long as you want at any of the stations from Kleine Scheidegg/Eigergletscher down, you can visit all the attractions, however I would advise visiting the Sphinx observatory first as queues for the lift up can be long
@@davidorf3921 That's right... we left Interlaken Ost at around 7:30 am... by 1 pm we were heading back. I’m not sure if we would have been fined if we missed the time! But in Swiss francs, missing the time wasn’t even an option, hahaha. The trip was amazing! It went really well! We enjoyed it even more than the Titlis trip!

I recently purchased a Swiss Travel Pass (second class) and have a few questions about using it: 1. For travel within major stations, like going from Lucerne to Kriens, do I need to purchase a separate ticket through the SBB app or at the station, or can I hop on the train with my Swiss Travel Pass? 2. When booking through the SBB app, do I select “GA Travelcard, 2nd class” under the "Travelcards for Switzerland" section in the passenger info? Is that the correct option for the Swiss Travel Pass? 3. For journeys where reservations are mandatory, like the Glacier Express, do I need to buy the ticket separately in advance? And if my reservation is in first class but my Swiss Travel Pass is for second class, can I upgrade to first class through the app or at the boarding station? I’d appreciate any insights or advice from those who have experience with this! Thanks!
You dont need any tickets. Swiss pass is your ticket. But you do need a seat reservation on glacier or bernina express. No ticket though
@@SwitzerLanding Thanks for your inputs!
Hi dear, thank you so much four video, we are family ( 2 adults , childs 9y 2y ) what is the best to buy ( 3 days in zurich looking to visit interlaken and luzern , is there a family card for swiss pass and what about my child 9 years old and 2 years old ? do they need fare ? thank you so much for your suggestions
family cards are available for half fare and swiss travel pass, 2 year olds dont need any pass. The best pass for you depends on your wishes. Swiss Travel pass is more convenient if you have the money, half fare is more work (ticket purchases etc) but cheaper. I cannot give you specifically an answer
one thats not on the list, buy a beverage and some food, take bus 14 to Konservatorium and then go to the Dreilindenpark and enjoy the stunning view on a bench. then walk all the way down to the Lion Monument by using the Hexensteige! thank me later.... ;-)
Awesome. Thanks Will check it out
Day 1: Zurich (hotel) to Rhine Falls Rhine Falls to Stein Stein back to Zurich (hotel) Day 2: Zurich to Zermatt (planning to ride Cable car here to see Matterhorn) Day 3: Zermatt to Geneva Geneva to Austria. Which travel pass can you recommend? Half Fare Card or Swiss Travel Pass? Also, is Zurich to Zermatt and Zermatt to Geneva, free of charge with Swiss Travel Pass?
he best pass for you depends on your wishes. Swiss Travel pass is more convenient if you have the money, half fare is more work (ticket purchases etc) but cheaper. I cannot give you specifically an answer
Travelling to Geneva (mix work and leisure) last 2 weeks of August & will be my base all throughout. Planning to go out of Geneva 2 or 3 random days with 1 day for Interlakken/ Grindelwald and Lauterbraunnen (hope it's enough), other days maybe combine Zurich/Bern . Is it better to go for Day Saver Pass or Swiss Trave Pass (3 days)? Which can cover Glacier Express/Bernina or other scenic train at no extra cost? Thank you very much.
You have to calculate yourself which is better - I cannot tell you just from your desciption. See what those train trips cost on sbb, add them up, compare to STP 3 day flex (if you want 3 days flexible travel during your time) and look at day savers (probably not much sense tbh but you can check - as it locks you into a specific date and might not be cheaper per day than STP
Day Saver Pass - i can use on Glacier or Bernina Express also?
Sure. But you need a seat reservation too
@@SwitzerLanding Thank you. Can I ask 1 more thing, which mountain/scenic trains is/are NOT covered by Day Saver pass? I guess this is much easier to assess, for a newbie like me :-) ...
@@joserommelborja1826 be careful focusing on the day save pass, it is only good if you are doing a lot in one day (more than the price of train travel). Also you need to understand that most mountains are not covered by that pass - it is for train/bus etc. not for mountains. So it makes sense for a long journey like the glacier express, but not for every day you are traveling. If you want to save money get a half fare card. www.swissrailways.com/en/buy-swiss-half-fare-card?affiliateId=402 this gives you 50% off most big mountains and all train /bus and cheaper day saver passes (when you need to use them)
Question; when i buy a ticket(from Grindelwald - Junggrau), do i still need to buy seat reservations?
Optional
Thanks
pleasure!

Great video. A big help in planning our two days in Lucerne which is the tail end of our Switzerland trip of September 3-13. Seeing your video makes me think 2 days may not be enough time but unfortunately can't change any of our other stops. Oh well guess we'll just have to come back again.
Glad it was helpful! I deed lots to see. But the country has lots to offer so its a general problem 😃
Hi Sir. I am going to Swiss from 31 Oct to 5 Nov. This are the three cities that I will be at Zurich, Lucerne and Interlaken. I most likely will be going to Mt Pilatus, Jungfrau, probably 1 or 2 lake ride and musems On 5 Nov, I am going to travel from Interlaken to Italy, Milan. Base on above, which is better?
Do you prefer convenience or price
@@SwitzerLanding Hi Sir. Ty for your reply. Both are important. But i have got the answer already from others which is Half Price Fare is better.
@@jaydenlim2962 perfect
Thank you for such an informative video. Is it necessary to have a half fare travel pass to get discount on super saver ticket?
Well, you can always get a super saver, but its cheaper with the half fare
Hi, I'm planning to get 3 day Swiss Travl pass, I was confused will I need to get an additional ticket (mainly for trains and buses), and will I need to validate the ticket prior to getting in the Transport.
The Swiss travel pass is valid for the days you pay for, including local transport. Only if you get the Flex version, then you have to activate it for specific days.
Hello. I will be flying into Geneva next month ultimately to hike the TMB with a group but arriving two days early to take a train to Zermatt to do some hiking and hopefully see the Matterhorn. I am planning to purchase the swiss travel pass and wondered to ride railroads and lifts for getting to the Hornli Hut for example how do I purchase the tickets. Do I use the SBB Mobile App for example. Also does the travel pass serve as my train ticket to get to Zermatt and will it be scanned on the train. I also hope to ride the train to Gornergrat and wondered about how the tickets to that and other areas nearby are purchased.
The Swiss Travel Pass (STP) might be a bit of overkill price-wise for just getting to Zermatt. Consider the Half fare. Then you need the mobile app to buy tickets (you should download it anyway to see the timetables). The STP is your ticket and you will need to show it and a passport on the trains. As for gornergrat, that leaves opposite Zermatt station and you can buy a ticket there or book it online (google it). You get a discount as a STP or half fare holder.
Hey im planing on staying at lautenbrunen for a few nights. Visiting the surrounding jungfrough places. Is the berner pass best option and just buy the individual zurich trains to make ways to lautenbrunen?
Depends how much travel and mountains you use it for. There is also the Jungfrau travel pass, or just using a half fare and paying for everything (but getting nice discounts). You have to do the calculation and see. or you can use my service to help switzerlanding.com/rail-pass-selection-service/
Excellent tips
Thanks a lot
Ashley do you organize excursions? This would be fantastic!
