Replacement of Big Jon Downrigger Motor with a Cisco Fishing System Motor
I purchased a used Big Jon Sportsman Downrigger and found out that the motor the unit came with was toast. However, the original replacement motor is between $250 - $300.- depending on where you get them from. And since I had to have the item shipped over the pond, which would end up costing another $50 - $70.-
Then I saw some hints that the Cisco Fishing System Downrigger motor could potentially fit and decided to test it as it is almost $100.- cheaper than the one from Big Jon.

Attempting to catch fish from a rocky cliff at the west coast of Fuerteventura. The fish, in my opinion an Amberjack of about 4 lb was washed on the rocks by a wave and managed to lever off the long minnow I used. Not my best day.. I was trying to catch fish from a rocky cliff at the west coast of Fuerteventura. The fish however, in my opinion an Amberjack of about 4-6 lb, managed to break the assist hook line. That was definitely a Bluefish - good size. Hard to catch on jigs with assist hooks - they have razor sharp teeth.
+Haramis Kalfar You are probably right! I thought a wire reinforced 90lb assist line should handle any fish. I was wrong..
