I am also a total novice machinist, never even took metal shop in high school. I bought this lathe a few months ago and learned how to use it by watching thousands of RUclips videos. (Thanks Tubalcain, Pieczynski and other...

Thanks Todd. This gives me another way of accomplishing the "slower" tasking of the lead screw for a smoother finish.

That is ONE CLEAN LATHE! I'm in the middle of rebuilding/restoring my new-to-me Atlas QC-42, so I'll need this. Thanks!

I just inherited one of these from my dad. Do you have the Craftsman model number for your lathe?

Very Good Todd... I really liked that info.... I'd already done the first reduction a while back.... I'll be gathering some parts now.... Thanks..... I do have one question... The gear chart you made is much nicer than mine.... Could you post yours or make it available ??

Good video very clear easy to understand . Do you have any idea what the gear combinations would be if I wanted to cut larger coarser threads like 1-2 tpi for large wooden vise screws ? Thanks Bob

I made an adapter to attach a four inch rotary table to the Craftsman - Atlas milling attachment. Rigidity was a serious issue.

Nicely done Todd! Particularly impressed with how you improvised machining the radius on the jaws! Really makes you appreciate those machinist of yesteryear and their ingenuity. Looking forward to your next project! That quick change gearbox will definitely make things easier...
