At my advanced age, I don't believe that monogamy is the rule, it's probably more like the exception! After decades of marriage, I discovered with certainty that my wife was a serial cheater! Most of the other people that I knew throughout the years were NOT monogamous! In the workplace for example, there was definitely a lot of cheating going on! Numerous studies have also indicated that woman were twice as likely to cheat than men! Knowing, and still loving my wife, I realized that something would have to change if we were to stay together? Either she would give up cheating (highly unlikely no matter what she would claim) or, we would have a change in lifestyle! After much soul searching we decided to try a mfm threesome! The experience was amazing in that it took the away the mystery and darkness that I associated with her years of infidelity! It's hard to explain! I'm for a modified form of non-monogamy. She can move in with another partner for 3 to 6 months and get the full day to day experience with them, not just sexual, and then come back. She can do this as many times as she wants so long as we both agree to it. It may do me some good with her gone most of the year.

Idk. I try to be open, but does any relationship really get better when you add someone else into the mix? If you are only having sex with other people, maybe that can work. If someone is establishing emotional intimacy and getting to know someone else, then this is taking time away from your main person. There is true beauty in knowing someone deeply and fully. Yeah, people tend to get bored with being with the same person all the time. We like variety and to try something different and new. For a Monogamous relationship to work ,we must sacrifice our own needs in order to have a happy family if that is what you want. Then deal with all the misery of lack of freedom. And when you are in a monogamous relationship you are owned and they own you. So, I don't blame you on being a single polyamorous person. You just wouldn't be a good fit for a decent man looking to build a stable and secure home life with just one woman. However, I do believe that self centered activity doesn't help relationships to thrive monogamous or not. Marriage, in its current form is not a natural way for a man. His DNA is designed to procreate with multiple women without losing his connection to one woman. It is not the same for women. Different studies indicate if a woman has too many sexual partners, she limits her ability to connect. In religion we call it lust. In philosophy we call it hedonism. In science and health organizations we call it sex addiction. And the hippies just call it healing, which I don't believe in. I've been in enough "Nature Communities", to know that even though there is strong representation in the defense of mother nature, there is a greater lack of education and a lot of theses communities misinterpret philosophy and become narcissists upon reaching cognitive dissonance for the first time. They believe people who follow science and medical studies are autonomous and apathetic individuals, when they have never done research on extremity and the concept and consequences of maxing out said empathy. Catering to everyone's will leads to destruction. The best thing I learned while in these communities is that "Just being and allowing others to be", is the ultimate way to live life and yet, they don't follow what they preach, ironic.

Honestly longer than it needed to be, I lost 13:37 mins of my life on something that could have been summarized to a sentence. Me hoping for a new concept or philosophical perspective. Basically: She wanted to sleep around and share intimacy with other people. Which tbh, is more fair than what many men do, they don't claim to be in an open relationship and still cheat. Open relationships will always have ramifications, I find it way easier to just break up with people and move onto the next one. But then you get accused for commitment issues and never finishing what you started. I think a long term relationship without intimacy is by far the healthiest way to fall into an intimate relationship, but that's just an opinion. However, on a more scientific not, statistically most people that are polyamorous and into open relationships have committal issues due to parents not commiting to them in life. On another note, if you aren't honest about your sexual orientation from the get-go you can really hurt someone who caters to monogamy, they will view you as a waste of time if they find that to be a core value. Some people want to work through all their pain and happiness together.

Hi Melissa I had my copper iud removed a week ago after 4.5 yrs. I had it inserted after a very difficult time in my life, so I didn’t realize the gradual decline in my mental health. I went from being a mum that baked with her kids to a snappy lethargic mess. Then my hair started to fall out and go grey in places and I put this down to natural aging.
