You dont need a range rover to live in a city. Makes it harder for you and everyone around you
I guess everyone has their own personal reasons
I fail to see how it makes it harder if that’s what that person likes or wants or needs or feels they need, but each to their own
@@michaelcallummayaka harder to park next, harder to see around etc
@@scrappedcars Interesting points.
You need a Range Rover with 400HP, 4 wheel drive, an average cost of 1£/mi, to find a parking space in a city ? That's 100% ridiculous. While RangeRovers are quite nice for long distance on the highways, needed for (horse, boat) trailers, they are a pain in the ass in crammed cities and not really suitable to transport goods (no foldable passenger seat) nor in heavy terrain (no scratches please) only on grasslands. Get yourself a city car, and there is no need to think about insurance costs, you may buy 4 for the price of your LandRover (which is neither reliable, nor easy to repair). Oh, I forgot, a city car is not suitable for showing off on the boulevards.
Hi there, appreciate the comment. James and his Wife also have a Mini Cooper (more of a city car) But they wanted the practicality of an suv for trips away and visiting their parents on occasional weekends who live outside of London
You can fold the rear seats from L322 onwards so I’m not sure which one you mean has no foldable passenger seat. The scratches thing is personal preference. And some of us prefer the high seating position and the comfort of the numerous speed bumps in London, more than most cities I’ve visited or lived in. Not everyone wants to save money some want to enjoy it. And no not just the “rich” I used to be on £600/week and happily put most of that into my Mercedes-Benz CLK320 from 2002 with 3.2 Litre petrol engine getting average 20 mpg with my brisk driving style, including some long motorway trips granted but yeah each to their own if you like small cars good but don’t enforce it on others or judge them for liking big ones.
@@AdamVonFrancis that’s also a good point, one can have more than one car, which is sometimes overlooked
@@michaelcallummayaka The passenger seat besides the driver is not foldable. Therefore you can not transport items exceeding 1.8m in lenght with this 'utility vehicle' that fitted in every Golf or Polo up to 3m from the passenger foot room to the hatch (or in both cases longer if the rear hatch stays open). The 'utility' of this car is below average. But of course, if you spent 60k for a car, you do not want the precious indoor surfaces and seats to get any scratches anyhow, so transporting items was never an option.
@@flexiblebirdchannel I would expect the front passenger seat goes fully flat if you recline it all the way, hopefully someone with a Range Rover can confirm this, then you can carry whatever. If you come to the UK countryside you’ll see many people use Range Rovers as workhorses not everyone is overly worried about making their car dirty or damaging it.
Personally I would prefer a V8 for the sound in spite of the fuel consumption.
You can’t beat that V8 grunt!
Very interesting video. Lovely car, though I still prefer the larger Range Rover, and not a fan of black interiors. Good to hear someone else who believes the panoramic roof blind should always be open.
Hi Michael, I totally agree with you on preferring the larger Range Rover. I am yet to get my hands on an L405 but absolutely loved the L322!
All cars have immobilisers ffs lol🤦♂️. They are fitted to every new car.
Ford fiesta and ford focus are the highest stolen model in london. Also i am insured in west london on the RRS p400e its 69 plate and its 1.4k so hes talking bollocks
If we buy any car are offering 40k that means its worth a lot more then 40k bro 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
5k in 1.5 yrs. Ffs he doesnt drive lol
A good challenger would be a Z4 E85/E86.
Agreed! I’ll have to see if I can get my hands on one
Promising 👍 Would like a full review of the 55.
Thank you, I shall see if I can get my hands on one again soon
Haha You have to put the Range Rover "reliability" thing into perspective. That it even becomes a question for a 2 year old vehicle tells you everything. For how many other 2 year old or even 5 year old vehicles does reliability even enter the discussion??
Hello, totally agree. Such a shame that this is the reality for the Land Rover brand
Gotta love a mini 🫡
Im quite lucky! For some reason, my insurance on my sport is £630 fully comp and that includes protected no claims, legal fees and monthly instalment fees. Not looking forward to next February tho when it’s due for renewal!
You did well there buddy! May I ask what year/model it is?
8:30 😂😂😂
The worst car by a country mile , Land Cruiser is far superior
Have you owned one before Bob?
@@AdamVonFrancis unfortunately I have , it cost me thousands, never ever again , I own a garage and have worked on a few for customers , the people seem to think they are the best thing since sliced bread, but then they don’t have to work on them , and as for the dealers , but that’s another depressing story !
I flew to the moon yesterday and had a cheese sandwich. Truth
Just had admiral tell me they will not insure my vogue even though they have been insuring my car , only quote I can get is £9k They don't ask about added security, have a wheel lock , steering wheel lock , ghost system but the insurance company don't ask etc so what is the point of adding all this security including tracker etc if it makes no difference
Unfortunately it’s happening everywhere. Where are you based if you don’t mind me asking?
looked at the convertible but had to ditch the idea due to the boot and rear being just too small. Ended up with 2011 cooper and love it
Hi Giles, absolutely. The hatchback is small but the convertible is just even smaller somehow, regarding space. I think you made the right choice there, not like we get much sunshine for the roof to be dropped anyway haha
If you have a non-everyday car to go with it - Custodian can probably help you :) You need to have a specialist / enthusiast non-everyday car though to go with it.
Appreciate that, I will pass that on, thank you. How did you find this out?
@@AdamVonFrancis I'm a co-founder at Custodian 😊 (I lead product and engineering) Parking location also matters a lot, street Vs driveway etc.
Oh nice! Congratulations on the business. Any sign of insurance coming down soon? 😅
@@AdamVonFrancis For enthusiasts who look after their cars well we are certainly doing a good job at that. Underwriters currently have very little information to assess risk other than crime rates, driving record, so when you can share a lot more about why and how someone cares for their cars they can price risk more appropriately. 🤜🏼🤛🏽
I’m on a my second Range Rover and I have never had any issue owning a RR Sport and RR Vogue SE …
Hi Michael, thank you for your comment, glad to hear you have had trouble free ownership! What year RR was your Vogue?
Now on my 6th RR including full-fat, sport, velar. Never had an issue with any of them.
Just sacked off our velar had a multi car policy with the velar and a a6 avant both 2.0 d was £1400 per year went to £3100. Was looking at upgrading to the vogue hybrid and they wanted 6.5K on top of the 3.1k. Just got a Porsche cayenne hybrid 3l v6 and insurance went up by £181.00 go figure that considering the vogue was a 2.0l plug in hybrid. Land Rover won’t be in the uk soon due to the silly insurance prices and the massive depreciation lost on them. We are located in the midlands well outside of Birmingham
Hi Colin, thank you for sharing that. It really seems that the cayennes are the perfect alternative to buying a RR in the current market. How is the Porsche? I am looking myself at the Cayenne Hybrid.
Very honest and interesting presentation.
Thank you Philip, we appreciate it 😊
Great watch guys
Thank you Tony, appreciate it 👍
cheap so easy to rob and the shite
Just as easy as any keyless entry vehicle which is nearly all of them.
5k on a nearly new car isn't really enough miles to question reliability. Imagine asking a Honda owner the same question.
Agreed, but we can only work with what we have Rod. I would say that Hondas and RR’s are on complete opposite ends of the reliability spectrum.
Excellent video - refreshing and totally relatable! Both of you are superb - the way you are having an interesting and also informed chat about a car that no doubt has been on the (potential) list of many car enthusiasts. Good job!
Thank you very much for your kind words 😊 We really appreciate that as this is very new to us! Thank you again, and hopefully more to come!
i live an hour away from london by drive there daily. i drive a 5.0 range rover sport my insurance quote was over £56,000 for the year. I've never heard of anyone else having a quote as bad as mine. i have written off a porsche and I'm only 21
Hi Jake, I’m sorry to hear about your quote renewal, that’s pretty hefty! What year is your Range Rover? It could be a whole host of factors, your age being one and the fact you have written off a car previously. Will you sell your RR and buy another car because of this?
@@AdamVonFrancis 2021 well 71 plate. And I’m selling it for a 2014 Range Rover sport supercharged so basically the same. But it means I have the different in my pocket rather than it depreciating more. But I’m sure my insurance quotes will be just as bad but I ended up adding my cars to a fleet policy through my company. It was the only way to do it in the end
Most probably mate, maybe slightly less. Have you considered a Cayenne?
@@AdamVonFrancisI have a few of them already but I only wanted a v8 suv. And the v8 cayenne compared to the Range Rover isn’t comparable on a comfort level. However overall the Porsche is better to drive but the Range Rover is for comfortable for long runs which I do very often
Lies
Great video very informative and you're both natural on camera
Thank you Nguene, we were trying our best! Very new to the whole talking to the camera but thank you 😊
Thanks … nice job - good to hear first hand what’s going on in London from one knowledgeable driver’s perspective
Thank you Philip, we appreciate it 😊
Nice to watch and learn directly from someone at the short end of the stick. I would drop this and go for the L322.
100% agree! The L322 was the peak of the Range Rover, in my opinion of course.
3.0L V6 at the moment, thinking of upgrading to supercharge 5.0L V8,thank you for making this video.
My Pleasure, you will not be disappointed with the V8! Now is probably a good time to buy one. How has reliability been with your one?
All is good..This 65 reg does not give me any problem. It is so smooth and inject power when changing mode to dynamic. Love it.. It's a gentleman's choice..
Nice car 👌
Thank you! It is! I see you have a nice little red one too haha.. keep up the content!
