I appreciate your video, and the time you took to reach out and share what is helping you. You are very inspirational. I have 2 adult children with this type of muscular dystrophy who I love very much. Interesting that you mention EDS as I too have been diagnosed with that. What you’ve shared has given me a greater understanding. Keep up the good work!
@@lisaphillipi7496 thank you. I reeeeally need encouragement right now in life.
I ve had Cream Legbars for 4 years now and it is a great breed of chicken. They are good layers, robust and tolerate a wide range of temperatures from hot to cold. They love to free range and are very predator aware. I haven't lost a single chicken ever not even a chick. They go broody if they have a big bright coop and big run with trees, bushes, hedege, grass and places to dust bathe. The hens are great mothers who lead the chicks up to 4 months or longer. One thing to consider is a high fence with a minimum hight of 6 feet as they can fly really well. The roosters can be noisy and tend to crow a more than other breeds and are very protective of their hens. Overall a chicken that can only be recommended.
@@michaelkeilbach6790 love your comment! I've had the same experience. They are one of my favorite breeds!
Hey Sarah would you do a video on how to prep the coop and the chickens for winter weather? I'm at a standstill trying to get the coop ready
@@kristinahenry3056 I will try. TY for the suggestion.
My Peahen eats snakes and the wild Brush Turkeys eats snakes aswell
@@corkystephan5073 wow! That's good to know! I knew Guineas would take em on. My neighbor has a peahen. It doesn't get along with my flocks. It's highly territorial & I'm having difficulty convincing it that our field is not It's territory. Lol... BEAUTIFUL bird tho!

I already shared your video so I’m glad you said that
And I always took my birds inside because where I live the place is lousy with foxes yeah
@@corkystephan5073 hawks are our main predators. They generally leave my standards alone, but dive frequently for my bantam flock!
@@fromthehartfarmswe got hawks over here aswell I’m at Amberley South East Queensland Australia
And we got Eastern Brown Snakes this place is infested with them so I got to contend with them aswell so I catch them snakes that is I catch them bag them and relocate them ironically they are protected so they always get released
@@corkystephan5073 yah, we have several varieties of nope rope here too. We found a small rat snake curled up, pretty as you please under a hen once! She was sitting on it while it devoured her eggs, one by one. It wasn't big enough to get the birds, but geesh! Rattler & cottonmouth are our few harmful ones, but we see em frequently enough. They're not protected here, or endangered, sooooo, yah. I deal with them as the situation warrants.
I let mine eat as much as they want via self feeding and self watering aswell but they were free ranging and I never had any problems like that having said that they laid heaps off eggs which was good
@@corkystephan5073 that's great! I like to let my chickens regulate their own feed as much as possible. They freerange, but I also offer a feed mixture & oyster shells on the side too.
Those Marans aren’t decent, sorry to say, they have the English style legs and the feathers aren’t as deep colored on the blue and splash as they should be, and those eggs don’t look dark enough, sorry.

What is the material used in the construction of the walls of this coop? Also, I asked about the dimensions of the coop.
@@halilbalaban1056 The material is wood with metal framing. I'm sorry I hadn't gotten the dimensions yet. I have been sick a lot this entire year and completely spaced to get them for you. The dimensions ARE on their website. But I went out and took them manually, since I can't find my instruction book. There is a 1" floor height under the coop itself. The short sides of coop is therefore 1" shorter than run height from ground up; measuring from 50.5" on short sides up to 70" at peak. The structures width (across doors left to right) is 65" and the length is 123" with the run taking 80" and the coop utilizing the remaining 43". Hope this helps. Sorry it took so long to get these to you.
@@fromthehartfarms I'm sorry for giving you a hard time when you were sick. I watched your video for the second time. This is the first video of yours that I’ve watched. I absolutely love your content and the gentle and kind way you treat the animals. Very uplifting for me! I really want to begin a flock of chickens within the next two years. (I kept them as a boy years ago). Hello, I'm writing from Istanbul. Thanks for your effort. It was really useful content.I will especially follow your broth recommendation.
@@murattamer4488 I'm so glad you found this helpful. Despite my miracle last October I am still struggling desperately hard with my Gastroparesis. Broth is often the only thing I can keep down. This is a great way to maximize the nutritional value of that broth. Plus it's great to cook with! Thank you for watching and commenting!
@@fromthehartfarms I will watch other content on your channel, but I did not know about the miracle. I am very happy about your health. Is it a positive development?
@@murattamer4488 It has been nice. God gave me back my legs! He removed the interaction between my EDS and the MD which stabilized my si joint. I am still weak & get exhausted very quickly, but I can walk again! The part of my disability that I struggle with the most still has been gut issues. I still struggle with my humanity. Often I get anxious, but I'm able to deal with that better. Not as good as I would like, but better. Since it happened our family has come under extreme attack from the devil, but our faith is strong and we have grown despite them. When Jesus gives you a miracle it does not change the world, it enables you to cope with it from a stronger, more secure stance. I found our challenges increased, but we are able to meet them head on! Our God ROCKS! I posted a video about the initial experience in my video called "A miracle report in time for Christmas 2024"
@@fromthehartfarms thank you, i will watch. ı hope your suggestions are helpful for me too. I am 37 years old and myopathy started in 2015. In the gene test it looks like lgmd type 2j. I could walk without support until February, but I fell and broke my ankle and kneecap. This accelerated the disease somewhat and made the legs even weaker. I'm having a hard time walking right now. I can only walk in the house with support. It is a very difficult situation indeed.
@@murattamer4488 I'm so sorry about your struggles. I used to fall a lot too. I will definitely be keeping you in my prayers!
I have a black silver laced bantam Cochin and she he is so beautiful and love her or him. Some people say it’s a roo but either way I love him and will keep him 😊
Do you think this coop could be moved once a day or once a week pretty easily?
I do not. Sorry
How difficult do you think it would be to turn it into a tractor?
You'd have to stabilize the base and it'd be ungodly heavy to move. This thing is not a light weight coop!
Great vid! Contemplating buying one for our chickens and this was very helpful!
Thanks!
New subscriber here ma'am.....😊
Welcome to my channel!
Unfortunately, the animals are not kept in a species-appropriate manner. They have far too little space and they have nothing to keep them busy. That makes me sad.
I didn’t see you put the door slider on. I was wondering how to do that or what is the right way. Hope it’s holding up good

29:00 oh no hun, all you had to do was flip / rotate the latch 180 degrees
I liked the way latch works. It's installed properly, but the alignment was off. Once we fixed the alignment on the wall it worked great. But I guess flipping it coulda worked to. I just liked it to latch on bottom the way it is. But I love the suggestion. Might be a great alternative solution for someone who isn't as OCD. Lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!
How would you reccommended fastening the hardware cloth to the metal fence
I would hope the cloth has grommets around edges & use those & ring clips to connect to top rail of side walls of run. If using as an awning attachment to exterior I would extend that over coop side by screwing in eye screws to attach grommets to. Hope that helps. On bottom (if attaching flat against walls) I would stretch to ground as tight as possible and secure to lowest section of welded wire on panels.
@@fromthehartfarms last question, this thing is 450 lbs. How did yall get it in the truck, much less move it to where it needs to be. Will a basic appliance dolly work with 3 men?
Yes, it is a heavy load! I guess we cheated. We had it delivered & opened up the box to move individual pieces to a wagon and then used wagon load by load to transfer to set-up location.
24:04 Could you tell me the voltage on your drill that you used for the self tapping by screws? I’m really struggling to get mine through the metal frame
My drill is a 12V. But it didn't have enough power. We ended up ising my son's 16V.
@@fromthehartfarms I’m using a 20v max cordless dewalt drill, I haven’t been able to punch through yet though
That's rough! I'm sorry. Try predrilling holes maybe?
My husband says it may be the setting on your drill. Does it have numbers on a dial that you can turn? Higher number puts more torque on screw and might work better...
That music drives anyone crazy.

We live in hot country. I decided to give it a good paint before construction. Our sun here is brutal but we have little rain. Hope it works for me. Good coop though.
Besides the main topic of "how to" , to did this vid so us common folk could keep up so Thank you. Just a side note, you spoke just like my dad a grammama did and it brought Texas right back with a tender force so thank you for that too.
Awe! I'm so glad the video helped. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Do you know how wide the wall panels are on each side? 4 feet x 6? Or 5x5 ? Seems to be a typos on tax website and it doesn’t give the length of the wallls only the width. Trying to determine overall sq foot of just the building not the run
Hello my friend. Your chicken coop turned out very nice. Your chickens will be very happy. Could you write me the width and length dimensions of this chicken coop and the height of the roof and the height of the garden fence in feet?
I will get them for you soon. I'm not sure where I stuffed my manual. Lol
@@fromthehartfarms I am very pleased with what you have done for me. Please don't have any concerns about this.
@@halilbalaban1056 There are 12" in one foot. Please dont ask for yards or meters... I don't know THAT math. Lol There is a 1" floor height under the coop itself. Chick three js the cochin
Chick two is a houdan or polish maybe?
Feathered legs & crest & number of toes indicates sultan which is what he grew in to. But good guess. Both those have crests too.

Chick one is a silkie?
Yes. Chick 1 is a silkie. Black skin, 5 toes soft downy feathers as it feathered out. Not a great quality one, but a sweetheart none the less.
I liked your video and purchased the same pen and coop. I was wondering do you know why there are two 1” inch holes drilled in the floor board? I have checked the manual but couldn’t find anything about the two holes.

Americana and Ameracauna are just easter eggers
There is a registered breed called Ameraucana. Please watch my video follow-up Titled An Interview With an Expert, where I visit and interview Mr. Paul Smith who helped establish the A.P.A. qualifications for this new addition to the recognized breed list. There is a lit of confusion on this subject, and many EEs are labeled as a misspelled version of the recognized breed. This is exactly why I took the time to create TWO videos on these AMAZING birds. Thank you for checking out my channel!
@@fromthehartfarms yes I raise Ameraucana. But even mine technically i couldn't call that since i breed red brown and black one together . To me calling easter eggers Americana or Ameracauna is just deceptive to make people think they have something other than an easter egger.
@@garyhempel6316 I agree. One of the things Mr. Smith pointed out was that if you breed two different color (official a.p.a. qualified) Ameraucana together like say a wheaton & a blue together, the resulting offspring would no longer conform to standard & would therefore be considered Easter Eggers. I don't think people are intentionally being deceptive, just don't know. A lot of this is still new to me too!

Lol! Thanks for watching & commenting.
Do you think this is even room for 10 laying hens?
I do. I think it could accommodate up to 12
@fromthehartfarms4294 ok! I thought it looked big enough but not sure anymore, research has been proving to have very random results based on square footage, we are 1st time chicken owners and wanna make sure we have enough room, if it ends up being not enough we will upgrade or get a 2nd coop! Thank you soon much!
I normally wouldn't on factory made coops, but this one is spacious on inside. Main problem we've had is air circulation & temperature control.
@fromthehartfarms4294 yeah I could see that, I think were gonna convert a section of our current shed into a coop, I think itll be cheaper and we can make it to fit us!
