The Emerald Ceili Band. Seamus Brogan Bango, Paidin Loughran flute , Jim Colgan fiddle, Gerard, now Father Gerard Mongan, accordian and his brother Paul Mongan on keyboards.
This was a special moment. If my memory serves me right it was the Monday after the Fleadh, Francie Sheridan a fantastic accordian player accompanied by Leo Donnelly RIP on piano joined by my father Jim near the end. Francie that day played 23 reels without a break.
Id love to hear Joe play The Wind That Shakes The Barley Coleman played it many many years ago and was a huge influence on this accordion master the late great Joe Burke RIP
Youthful Stephen Hayden there around 20 minutes in. Where do the years go.
Wonderful stuff: ) All those 'Collectors Cars' are pretty cool too!
I think so too! Glad you enjoyed it
Great to see young people in touch with their own traditions. Hope these children are still making music and enjoying it these 30+ years on.
Hopefully! Glad you enjoyed it
Fantastic....
Thanks

Thank you for sharing this great footage!
Thank you for sharing this lovely footage!
Assault ? 9:10
Their laughter and remaining for the rest of the show makes me suspect not. But I'm no lawyer.
Slow down
Remarkable musicians!
Great Sligo style music and fitting tribute to the great Michael Coleman
Im an Eskra in Canada!! Cheers!!
The accordion master. Perfectly still except for his fingers through which the music pours effortlessly and the joy of it giving that calm smile of inner enstasy.
As a child I remember these gentlemen were they tajlers by trade
My late aunt Rip talked about this man from killalvil where she came from good luck 🤞🍀
The late great Joe Burke RIP has now joined with his musical hero and mine too.the late great Michael Coleman who changed the musical face of lreland forever really
Beautiful, masterful playing. Makes my heart dance even if my knees aren’t up to it.
Only one way to bring back street sessions like this - Get rid of fleadh TV.
I agree entirely with you.
Thank you. I was quite open in my book 'Fawcett's Fleadh' where I spoke openly that the Fleadh street sessions (which were the envy of the world ) were ruined once Fleadh TV came in there with their sit down concerts, where musicans fell for the lure of money.
TV
Agree. I feel the first thing wrong was the arrival of the gig rig which played loud music and blocked streets.
and the busking
Sorry,don’t know this player
Who is the accordion player?
Sorry,don’t know.
Freddie Fortune.
Love Clonmel , would love to live there again, miss it a lot.
Rip aidin
Poor auld Pat Mahon.
Thanks a million for.sharing Great old tunes ..no age . Just BEAUTIFULL
Thanks for listening
My wonderful uncle Pat & Rose too 🥰 . They played so sweetly together & no one ever played a slow air like Pat 🎻. God rest his kind & gentle soul 😢 🙏 x
A lán acu sa reilig anois - a Dhia déan trocaire orthu.
Ty for upload
Rest in peace Gentleman Joe, you're now in the company of Patrick Touhey your fellow Galway musician and of course the great Sligo fiddler Michael Coleman your musicial hero and indeed mine too
Despite what John says, my Auntie Agnes would never give in that there were bluebottles in the Lower Shop.
Im originally from Inishowen in CoDonegal and these people have the exact same accent as the Urris area beside clonmany. Especially the man talking in the back of the car and the two ladies. Great footage
It’s great to listen to characters like John talking about times of old and the simple life people led back then.
Looks like a good time. There's a lot of youth involvement which is excellent.
Brilliant thanks. I was there.
Glad you enjoyed it but certainly not Irish trad at all
@@burtonfootballer5408 pure Trad.
Thank you
Thanks for posting these! Joe's presentation of the music was second to none - great, solid selections of tunes with the minimum of talk (laced with wit, however) to introduce each set. Well spoken too. The playing speaks for itself. RIP Mr. Burke! p.s. well done, Anne, another fine musician. Definitely deserves more recognition.
These videos are brilliant! Thanks for uploading them.
Glad you like them!
Lots of Paddy Wagons at that years fleadh...rowdy enough...
Best time of my life, no job or school to worry about, just tunes, tunes and more tunes.....
