written by Chuck Pyle and released by Jerry Jeff Walker in 1991 We had a great deal of fun at Saena's Open Mic Birthday Party! Got to sing whatever the heck we felt like, so Saena and Paul hopped up on stage with this one. Thanks for listening! Here's the lyrics to our version: Yea, well it won't be but a week or two, You'll be out lovin' someone new Must have happened a hundred times before. I...

Bayou Town Shanty and Adieu Sweet Lovely Nancy
Просмотров 1332 года назад
Bayou Town Shanty was written in 2019 by our very own Paul Cooper. It invokes images of stormy nights while docking in Galveston Bay, playing the blues and getting into drunken brawls. A true shanty if there ever was one! "Adieu Sweet Lovely Nancy is one of the best-known songs from the repertoire of the Copper Family. It was published in the first issue of the Journal of the Folk Song Society,...

A Man's A Man For A' That (1795 Robert Burns)

Robert Burns, known as Scotland's bard, wrote this one - a song that reflects his belief in equality for all people. “Honesty is worth more than fancy clothes.” “The man who learns to think for himself is worth...” much more than the fool who dresses fancy and struts around to show off. “Burns imagines a future world in which all people will live as brothers, in mutual trust and respect.” ~allp...

The Robin's Petition (1814)

Apologies for some of my earliest concertina playing. We all had to do something during the pandemic! The words were originally a children's poem from Maria Edgeworth's Continuation of Early Lessons (1814). It is part of the story "The Bee And The Cow" from her series of tales about "Rosamond"... but the poem itself is possibly older. A version with some more verses had already been published i...

Thomas Tegg is my ancestor my 4 times great grand father, I am from australia, where two of his sons moved to expand the publishing business. James Thomas Tegg, its just incredible to see all these different areas of writing and literature that he delved into. Thanks for this,

I'm a descendant of Hew Ainslie.. This was very cool!

@@wyldemeade oh, thank you, HAPPY NEW YEAR ! !! !
🤍🙏🤍
My family I believe are Faa's....xX
What a wonderful history to know about!
This is it, the song I've been looking for for 19 years. This is the melody but the style is all wrong...it should break your heart. The way Ben Grant dry it in his play about the Acadiens. At least I have the name no⁰
Morag, thank you for your interest in our music. I have heard this wonderful tune done in a number of different ways, including by traditional groups. I would not venture to say what is the "right" style. Perhaps it is like fiddling - the right style depends on what county you are from. I will look up the Ben Grant version, and I thank you again for getting in touch with us. Paul
@@paulcooper3837 For me and most people, the right way is the way we first heard it...you may be forgiven for doing it differently 🙋🏼♀
Cute
Glad you enjoyed it, Doc!
great job guys.
Thanks for listening!!!
Good effort, but the harmony is not quite there.
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you watching!
I do agree. There is potential but the tone from each singer doesn't quite match. The woman is very high and strong. There is also a bit of variation from the words on the song. I would like to hear your revised rendition?
@@Theagchm thanks for watching! We're going to leave this one up warts and all 😁
The tune is the same used for Burns' Dainty Davy, which I believe also has another tune.
Lovely rendition of this song. I've come across the lyrics before, but I was wondering about the air. Can I ask if ye put a new air to the song or is this an older air, if so where did ye come across it? All the best from a few short miles from Kilmurry!
We're so glad you enjoyed it! It's the traditional tune as far as our research could take us. If you look it up under the Irish name "Cnocáinín Aerach Chill Mhuire" you will find some beautiful and gentle renditions! If you click on "show more" above and click the link for bio it will take you to the source of info the family that the original composition came from. Thanks for commenting!!!
@@wyldemeade Great, thanks for the information. If I'm ever meandering through your neck of the woods I'll have to look ye up! G'luck!
Thank you!!!
