When you disconnect the fuel line that runs from the tank to the filter be careful. Don't bend the line to try and put it in that opening on the bottom. I did that and I kinked the line. But I reinstalled everything and it's running fine so far

I replace fuel filter for 1994 n 1996 ford f150 with no problems. But this orange clip got me stump been pressing on that orange clip and wrestling with nothing happening. So someone give some ideas what I should do next?

Helpful video, ignore the haters, thanks for posting it. My problem was the clip with orange retainer ring...the other videos address the blue clip but not the orange one which is the one attached directly to the filter input side on my 04. Simple enough to get off by pushing in with a screw driver when you showed it, but not obvious on the first attempt. That was how I was trying to remove it but mine was really crusted on so I was afraid I was doing it wrong - your video gave reassurance I was doing it right and not to give up.

I bought the removal tool at auto zone, it didn't work worth a shit. I used a small piece of a sharpie cap split long ways. It worked like a charm and I got my 7$ back.

Should have started sooner, showing the location of the filter and how to remove it.

I tried to use the release clips that came with the filter but didnt release the line on all sides. I used a top from a Sharpie marker, cut it in half and sliced it down the middle. Old filter had clear gas on the output/engine side but rusty orange fuel on the fuel tank side of the filter. Worked for me on a '06 Lincoln Mark LT pickup. Truck was loosing power uphill on bridges as if transmission was slipping.

That is not a tool to take off the fittings,that is a new clip for the new filter,you should get two clips,those clips are for the older type and,or,different set up.

Oh spit, I wish I had found your video first. I screwed up. In the box there were 2 black plastic things and one white one. I thought the two black one's were to replace the orange and green clamps. I destroyed both trying to get them out. So I am off to Ford tomorrow .

I highly recommend filling the new filter with as much fuel as possible PRIOR to installation, as this will help prevent the rush of fuel through the new filter from damaging the filter media...fyi.
