Hi Viktoria! I really enjoyed your video. I'm from Serbia, more precisely from Vojvodina. It's a northern part of Serbia, a region which was part of Austria-Hungary in the past and we have a significant Hungarian minority. It is fascinating how I recognize almost all of the food you presented here, and it is also part of our cuisine. Many of these dishes are a little bit archaic, and most of the younger people maybe don't eat it anymore, but I remember all of them from my childhood and I will comment them below. 1. Griz u mleku and Sutlijas ("semolina in the milk", the other I can't translate). Very good, I like them both, maybe I prefer Griz as you do. 2. "Nasuvo" (literally "dry"), or "Grenadier march". Excellent 3. Slanina (even sounds similar like Hungarian name). It's ok, I like it 4. "Hleba i masti" ("bread and fat"). We usually use pork fat, which is sold in supermarkets, we don't use fat from the roast. We usually sprinkle it with sweet paprika. Very old food, people rarely eat it now. But I did when I was a kid. 5. We rarely eat garlic bread, I think it's not Hungarian but French ("French toast") 6. We make Hurka a lot in Vojvodina, and we call it the same. Personally, I don't like it. 7. We eat all kinds of livers ("Dzigerica") as you do. I'm not a very big fan of it, but I eat it. Personally, I prefer chicken liver. But you forgot to mention goose liver, which you Hungarians use to make pate, which is excellent. I usually biy it when I travel to Hungary. 8. "Bubac"(chicken stomak). My mom liked it, but me and dad didn't. It's spongy, rubbery... No! 9. Liver paste is great. We call it "Pasteta". It is very popular in all of Serbia, not only Vojvodina. 10. I never tried Piros Aran 11. This one is my favorite. "Flekice s kupusom" ("flakes with cabbage"). I eat it all the time, and I learned to make it myself. I realize that you hate it, but I adore it. 12. Pasta with cheese is quite common in Serbia, but we add eggs. I think its something like "Mac and cheese", Canadian national dish. 13. "Pihtije" (untranslatable). Some people eat it all over Serbia, especially in Vojvodina, but I hate it. I used to run away from home when my mother was making it. Gross! 14. Cvarci (it would be "csvarci" in Hungarian). Very favorite food. Especially in winter. Yummy! 15. My mother used to eat chicken legs from soup. I never had the guts to try eat. I never met any other person that eat it. I read that it's a Chinese favorite. 16. We don't have such combination as "Turos Teszta". I tried it in Slovakia, they call it "Bryndzovy haluski" and it'y their national dish. Not bad. 17. We definitely don't have fruit soup. In Serbia generally is not common to mix sweet and savory, but it is Hungarian style. My grandma (who was an old Austro-Hungarian lady), made such combinations. 18. Milk bread was also one ancient food of my grandma. I ate it many times for breakfast, and I have no special opinion on it. It can be eaten, but not my favorite. My grandma had a variety with pasta in milk. And that would be all. I think your video is very interesting. Greetings from Serbia! 😀
