Minecraft FlatWorld #20: Library
Now that we're pretty much wealthy and able to buy lots of Glass, we can build a second Village next to the first one and devote it entirely to Librarians from which we'll be able to buy more Glass and whatever Books we still need; we just need to fill the Library up with Beds and plan for dealing with the Iron Golems they'll eventually make.

THat should have been fixed in patch 1.0.0.5: Fixed a bug where it was possible to merge a Pipeline or a Conveyor Belt into itself by using a Pipeline Junction or Splitter/Merger, which would cause duplications
It was.
There are a couple of options in the settings UI that determine what respawns when you reload the game. The vegetation around your base probably respawned because you reloaded. The house can catch fire in a storm if it gets hit by lightning. I have never seen a campfire start a fire except when I stepped on it, catching myself on fire, and then ran around my base lighting everything else up.

If you fill your container stacks from the top down, you can get materials from ground level instead of having to fly up to get it.
I'd considered that; the problem is that then we lose any extensibility later, unless we keep moving the entire sorting system higher every time we need more room.

You can place miners on foundations. If it won’t place (too high), remove one foundation from the node so you can see it then place the miner then replace the foundation.
When placing foundations on the ground, you want to use at least 2m foundations because when they snap to the world grid, they also align vertically from the center. This means that two foundations aligned to the world grid could be 1/2 meter offset from each other. This makes it impossible to merge the two grids properly, since there are no 1/2 meter ramps.
It’s probably a better use of power slugs to only overclock extraction buildings. You can always build more production buildings (constructor, assembler, manufacturer, foundry, etc.). A side benefit of this approach is that you will use less power.
If you’re thinking about rebuilding your factory, you might want to use the blueprint maker and put together groups of production buildings.
Also, you have to power the train station. The power flows along the tracks to power the train,.
The train has a tight turn of roughly 4x4 or so foundations. You may want to place your straight pieces first and then place the curves.

It is fun watching you two work on this together. 🙂 I friendly hint. You can actually fill multiple Milestones with resources, then perform multiple "Launches" without waiting for it to return due to a known glitch they've left in the game. Once you launch, you cannot "Fill" a milestone with more resources until the container returns. It's like pre-filling the space container, then just going ahead and collecting the credit for each milestone , so I think they'll leave it there. The new Parachutes with Update 8 are excellent for any cliff jumps now and re-usable. Don't forget you can build that lookout platform (or just "make" one for the two of you) to overlook a factory floor/area. You probably do want to split the limestone to multiple constructors. Looking forward to more from you both!
Hadn't known about the glitch. The only trick now is that we're a few episodes ahead of release, so the stuff each thing wants is taking some time to get together anyway.

given your dedication i find it incredible how your channel is still this small. i think your style of content would've done much better earlier on in youtube but maybe consider adding in some background music? unless you just do this for documentation purposes which is still cool
I suppose documentation is an element, in the sense that I see the whole thing more as a playlist from start to finish. I'm not sure what background music I'd go with, but I'll think about it.
Dont worry too much about music, most of the value is in any pre-planning that goes into a recording session, or the followup editing/cutting. Music can be weirdly divisive and drive people away sometimes@@wastedinc

imo, you have 2 major flaws in your setup. First and more serious: do not have items that stack to 500 (wires, screws, ets) in the sorting system sushi belts. One stack of 500 will need around 45 secs in mark5 belt to empty. Meanwhile, all the other belts are stackup on items for the same amount of time, because of the 500 stack. These items (the 500 stacks) should be on dedicated belts/overflows. The second flaw i see is that you mixed the storage system with a factory system. You transport ores, in mark 4/5 belts, but you smelt less than mark2, leaving you with way too much excess ores to stackup and disrupt your sorting system. Even if you try to build a megafactory (get all->produce all in a single location), there is no need to mix the production lines (ores and tier 1 stuff) with the final products. There is no need to store ores and ingots for example. This setup needs precise calculations. 100% of imports MUST be consumed from the machines with no excess leftovers.
Yeah. We're used to thinking more in terms of Minecraft or something, where things are more equal. Now we're thinking toward pretty much what you're recommending, in stages to prevent shutting everything down and losing power as we work on it.

To reduce the number of smart splitters, maybe do 2 rows of storage, instead of one. This would use all the outlets of splitter. And use less resourses.
The problem you experienced in beginning of video is same issue I have found also. Since the update 7, for some reason smart splitters will stop working. I tried resetting what was going where. But nothing would get it to start doing what it SHOULD be doing. The only fix I could find was to destroy smart splitter and replacing it to get it to work again. This typically happens after I have continued a game from main menu. They don't stop working while playing. But only after I quit game and load later. I always do a hard save before quitting, so not about auto save.
This was Update Six-we haven't even opened the game since November the Tenth. I'm not sure what Update Seven will end up fixing once we get to it. Mostly, I've heard that there's a Blueprint Designer now, which sounds like it would save a lot of time. We've got four more episodes uploaded at the moment; then we'll update to the modern version and get back into this.
@@wastedinc ; The blueprint designer isn't avaiable until tier 4. I just started playing the game with update 6. So not sure if smart splitter was malfunctioning for me at that time. But do know that in update 7 it randomly seems to malfunction. As stated, usually when I first load game. I then will find a smart splitter totally dead. And have to replace to get function again.
A wall is the same height as a 4 meter foundation piece witch is same 4 a 4 meter ramp. So you could stack wall pieces to get correct height references. That's easier than using foundation pieces.
At the time of your recording there was a bug with the data pack in 1.19.3, which meant that the "Getting Wood" advancement did not work. Greetings from map creator

I was thinking that the ceiling might be the problem, since the other villages are all open air. Then I just need a lattice to prevent ghasts from getting out.
May be game tries to spawn golem at the 2nd floor (on upper layer of stone bricks) but fails because there is not enough space?
They should be spawning golems as close to their own level as they can get, so I don't see why that would be the case. Incidentally, I just upgraded to 1.19.3 and tested it out for next week's episode; that gave me a little more information about golems in the Nether, but it's a surprise until Tuesday.

I was hoping they would let me add new bamboo and camel stuff to existing worlds after release. but it still under datapacks button for new world with "experimental... still under development..." warning like it was in snapshots. And It breaks my husk farm on skyblock because mobs can no longer spawn on top of scaffolding. I will probably skip this patch and wait for 1.20
