Into the clouds
Notice as I climb after take off that the horizon slowly starts to disappear. This is what it's like to fly into a cloud. You can see when I notice I begin to descend. If you can't see the horizon its next to impossible to fly wings level. Turns out the cloud ceiling was about 600ft and pattern altitude is 1000ft. You can also see me over shoot by turn to final. I was too high and had to do a slip to further descend.

I designed a top hinged canopy for my Challenger. I'm 6'4" and a fixed canopy would be far to difficult to get in, and more importantly, out of after a crash landing.

August 10th in Mentone IN at the 2013 PRA Convention. One of the busiest 5min of the entire convention. You see a pristine turbine Mosquito doing amazing maneuvers along with a take off and landing of an MTO, a taxing M-24, a Calidus landing a SnoBird flyby and a M-22 take-off.

A quick flight around the patch with my new GoPro attached to the wing. Despite being near sunset the air was a little bumpy. My plane is an experimental class Challenger 2 that I finished building in 2000. The wide angle lens compresses the image at the edge of the frame which is why the cockpit appears distorted. Nice sunset and fall colors at the edge of the Pine Barrens in NJ.
BRS Ballistic Parachute test fire

It was time to replace my 12 yr old BRS ballistic parachute on my plane. I decided I'd really like to know it the rocket motor, igniter, and parachute still functioned after it had technically expired. I'm very happy to say it did, and I'm now more confident than ever that the new replacement will work just as well. I hope I'll only ever see it fired after it's replaced in 10yrs.

As is the case often (and surprisingly so), some actors look so much more handsome when they are not in a movie or on their tv show. This is the case here with Peter Scolari. Incredible classic lines on that head, more evident in profile shots. // Also of interest: his voice is in a lower register than one would expect with his looks, much as is the case with Dick Cavett. // Julia Duffey is a knockout and seems like a wonderful person.
I wish they were really married.

Peter’s comic genius is well known (RIP) but I think a lot of people sleep on Julia’s.
Not me. I loved Peter on Newhart. All the characters were very good. However, in my opinion, Julia Duffy made the show. She was incredibly great on Newhart. Her comedic timing and delivery were impeccable. Julia was absolutely amazingly funny in the role of Stephanie.
They were both great, Peter and Tom Hanks were very funny in their sitcom.

Michael passed away at the far-too-young age of 66. Mary Fram (Joanna) passed away in 1998. Mary was only 55. Both went way, way too soon and too young.
