Some footage following heavy rain and flooding around Lincoln and Tai Tapu. Fortunately no serious problems for residents, unlike our friends in many parts of nearby Christchurch.

Video taken at the LVFB's 50th Jubilee celebrations in October 2013 of a monsoon bucket demonstration using the Helipro Squirrel helicopter. Regan Graham at the controls of the helo and the bucket fillers are Kyle Steans, Ruth Deal, Tim Mitchell and Isaac Williams. The water supply comes from nearby parked Fire Service appliance and tanker.

Some video footage from a large vegetation fire near Springston in Canterbury on Saturday 6 July, 2013. Caused by high winds dropping powerlines onto trees. Significant resources from around teh district were required to extinguish this fire. PRT changeover

Our PRT (Pump Rescue Tender), Lincoln 417, is off station for some repairs and in the meantime our replacement is an old Hino. We changed it over the other night, a bit of a struggle to fit all our gear inside!

That bucket was designed in the Central Fire Depot Tapanui by Forest Service fire officers I still have the original plans I drew for the manufacture of the first three made by us. Then the pot heads at the top gave the design away. Gone are the days where people who new a bit about fire fighting in the rural environment are gone and the amalgamation of fire fighting services will never work as was evident at the Port hills and Pigeon vlly.
I should add that it is not a Monsoon bucket it is a Dew drop bucket . Monsoon is a trade name owned by True Test
