Decade-long Break Ends: Koraidon Tin Pokemon Card Opening! Will there be hits?
This video was a big help, thank you :)
So if i obtain another pf the first 151pokemon from another expasion Doesn’t count?
Any deck ideas for the 1,2 and 3* cards only mission?
Use a melmetal deck. Destroys it easily
Golem w guard press
I used Primeapes and marshadows.
As soon as you take into account that the FIRST TOSS IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS. And only count those… your own rules… it falls hell bellow that .5 bias… showing it’s rigged.
Suggestion for your Koga Deck: I would drop the two Jigglypuff and replace with 2 Leaf Supporter cards. That way you can still have some mobility after you use your Koga cards.
Can you make a link so we could download this excel sheet? This is really good. I know i need to open pikachu bc is the only one i still miss 1/2 diamond rarities but for 4th and 5th rarity i miss more mewtwo and charizard packs, but i would love having these data in a more exact way
There is actually a link of it under one of my other mew immersive videos I think it’s the oldest video I have about it. If you can’t find it I can still post the link here too though
First turn Articuno - Misty is faster 😜
I def had some good luck at first 2-3 times I tried the card, but I've gotten roughly been about 1.25 heads for per 10 flips that I'm getting over a sample size of 80 flips. I'm sure many people have been feeling the same, ofc the ones who have it bad will complain the most lol.
If you guys don't know first Gen kento pokemon cards then you will have a hard time play this game going forward lol.
That's great!
Misty have me tails on a laughably regular basis only to give me me 16 heads in one use. I stopped using it after that and gave up on having a water deck.
do you have to fight in advanced to win the venusaur, or can i just farm in easy?
No sadly there is no way to specifically farm the Venesaur one but doing the advanced will give you a guarantee to get a promo pack
Como abro los promos?
ive opened 25 of these and no venusaur, gotten like 8 greninjas rho
I'd like them all psyduck is my favorite
I know i have all of them but part of them are promos, special ones and ex and still no mew. Edit: I figured out what it was. It didn't count a promo card
Wait so say I’m missing venusaur and do not have the regular version or EX but I have the new promo one, does that count for venusaur?
@Jewmama Apparently not. I had a promo butterfree but it didn't count until I made one
@@lazarusbooth8898 thank you for letting me know that sucks now tho because mewtwo is the only pack I don’t need to open beside getting venusaur I was really hoping that this promo would’ve worked
I just started the game am I late to get this cards? also availed premium
need to spend quite a bit to get this
@@sutnack7537you don’t I’m only 5 cards away and haven’t spent a dollar
@@sutnack7537 not too much to be honest I’ve only spent 30 and am very close only 15 cards off and I have all the rarer ones
misty is overpowered but with my charizard deck i can beat the water decks sometimes
Either 1 flip or no first turn attack.
The highest i got is 15
Been running 2 butterfree, an articuno ex, 2 basic articuno, and a lapras ex. Trust me its better than koga stall.
i got lapras ex my fourth card, was thinking there was another ex in the promo deck 😅
Promo cards will most likely not be able to be traded
Not sure how rare they actually are. I’ve had about 12 promo packs and I’m sitting on three Lapras EX cards. My buddies have all had a similar situation happen to them too.
I opened 26 and got one which was the 26th one
35 packs in, zero Lapras in sight.
I got it in my 2nd pack😂😂😂
@@xsparik you and I both bro. At this point I’m doing all the achievements in the Lapras event to just do it
@@alexbell8865 Lol same
@@Rankedbros5 i got it in my 1st thinking thats what is supposed to happen 😂😂
I CANNOT get a Lapras despite having everything completed. But I got 15 pickachu’s so that’s good news.
I got it in my 2nd pack
I got 5 LMAOOO
Hopefully mankey and Pikachu will do me well in the future. You know having 15 each
I had the opposite problem. Pikachu was the last one I was able to finish max flair for. I've had almost 10 lapras. Not sure about the pull rates or maybe I'm inversely lucky
@cash_ketchum4958 everyone's saying it's a simple 1/5 however I don't believe it. Took me 33 to get a single butterfree
Bro I can’t get anything BUT those two.
@@cash_ketchum4958Send me your id, I might need a Lapras from you once the trading begins. 35 packs in, no Lapras so far.
My favorite deck is any deck that doesn't use coin flips. (Ninetails my beloved)
If you were calculating the average expected total number of heads when you play misty you should be expecting 1 and not .5 because the geometric series 1/2 + 1/4 + 1/8 + 1/16 ... adds up to 1. If you were calculating how likely on each flip is to come up heads or tails I think you methodology may have the misstake that every 1heads result is actually 1heads and 1 tails, and 2heads is actually 2heads and 1 tails etc.
The coin flips all feel terrible. I'm either getting all heads or all tails which could be my luck but it feels like there is something very wrong with the game.
...this dude can't do math.
I am pretty sure the method of obtaining data from the coin is creating a bias. I am gonna be honest, I can't remember much from statistics. I think the number of flips should follow an exponential distribution and using that you can determine the probability of heads or tails. The exponential distribution models the time/distance/tries between random events, in this example the number of flips between getting a tails. From a game design perspective, I would not be surprised if the coin is biased in favour of heads. Theoretically half of all misty plays will result in tails, resulting in many people getting long chains of using the card for no benefit. It should be equally likely to get 10 fails in a row as it is 10 heads on a use, but 10 fails in a row feels much worse inherently and also feels like it should be rarer. In conclusion stats is hard and frustrating and most people get it wrong because our brains aren't built to understand probability. Lots of wierd things happen that make sense but not in the moment of trying those probabilities like if you have flipped a coin and it landed heads 10 times in a row, heads and tails are equally likely, but it never feels like that on the 11th flip.
How would it be creating a bias exactly? Wait yeah I know what exponential distribution you mean and yeah that is also a thing but that is I think though related to thus not really what I am trying to find out here. Also yeah agree with that game design perspective and that makes a lot of sense, also mainly why I was curious what the actual values where of this one
@@PokemonCardCollector9000 I am not entirely sure how it would create a bias, I am going off really shaky memories from 2 ish years ago. I am probably totally wrong on that. However I am pretty sure the number of heads will follow an exponential distribution. unlike the binomial distribution where if you squint it looks like a bell, the exponential distribution looks like a ski slope. I think the name comes from the exponential decay of the number of each outcome. It is quite easy to calculate the exponential distribution, something like P(desired outcome)^n = P(it takes n tries for the desired outcome). For example the probability of a coin landing on tails taking 4 tries would be (1/2)^4 = 1/(2^4) = 1/16. The graph of it is y = ap^x where y is the number of times it takes a certain amount of tries, x is the number of tries, a is the number of times the test is run and p is the probability of the desired outcome. The graph for the number of heads between each tail is y = 0.5^(x+1). Hopefully there is something coherent in that block of text. If you have any more questions, I am significantly better at speaking on discord.
Misty either gives 0 heads or 12 heads depending on if it’s you using it or your opponent lol
the words bias is not used correctly in a statistical sense. your method of estimation doesnt produce a bias. distributions dont have biases.
I coin can have a bias, so in this case yes the word bias is used in the correct sense. Dont worry im doing university courses in statistics I should know :)
@@PokemonCardCollector9000 edit: when you are discussing the bias as in the colloquial sense, then its ok, but then your statistical bias then needs to represent that i.e. probability estimate - 0.5. what you are calling the bias would be the probability and since a normal coin would be p=0.5 a bias in the coin would be +-[0,0.5]. anyways, you didnt come to a conclusion, i would have liked to see some sort of test or CI as those would be a natural extension. also, still liking and subbing for stats videos, dont worry
I've seen quite a few suggestions to change the card's description to "flip 3 and attach 1 energy per head". I feel like it would actually make the card both stronger and more fair.
Stronger, not functionally fairer since nothing really needs 4+ water energy. Having a Lapras with 25 water energy is hilarious but unless you wanna swap it in every turn and out the next not quite useful.
@vbarreiro Definitely more fair for both players, as the rate of 0s would be reduced, but it also can't spike.
Isnt that basically a huge nerf, since the moltres basically has that ability but then for the cost of one energy instead of actually playing a card
@@SarajevoKyoto The spike is meaningless though. A Starmie with 2 energy or with 2 million energy functions exactly the same. Maybe in later expansions when they add more boss Pokemon with move costs of 5 energy the spike will matter, but as it stands, the absolute most a Misty can do for a game is “Articuno either both Blizzard and switch out without losing the ability to Blizzard when it comes back in”, which yes is good, but not incredibly powerful for how rare an event it is
@PokemonCardCollector9000 I suppose you could see it like that, but it also doesn't use up your attack that turn and isn't tied to Moltres staying alive. We don't have a water-type "Moltres" either as far as I know, so Misty works in its place. I think overall the card is in a really weird place, but there are definitely solutions.
I mean, the coin flip in itself being fair doesn't make the card fair, as of now, there's a stupidly high amount of Deck that want to haxx their way to victory and Misty card is kind of the queen of that playground. I had some foes straight up quit the match after rolling tails on Misty, Marowak Ex and even Pincurchin, the problem with those kind of card is the fact that they are, in essence, unfair to play against, no matter if the flip is rigged or not.
Oooh yeah absolutely, its a game changer if you flip tails or not. The only plus side is getting free wins like that if you play against people flipping tails. But it’s not fun, I was more trying to figure out if the coin was biased or not just out of interest
I still think Charizard moltres is the strongest coin flip deck as you get a min of 6 coins before Charizard and if 4 comes head you can one any pokemon without extra energy and if you put a min of 5 before starting you can one shot 2 turns in a row.
My conclusion....if you buy pokegold 0.6, free to play 0.3,
I think just looking at the first flip of each Misty card is way more accurate to get information wether its a playable Card or not. Who needs 5+ flips on a single Misty? Most of the time a single heads is enough to get the advantage and win. ( my opinion ) If Misty would only get you 20% heads at the first throw its pretty much a bad card.
I agree with you fully and did consider only looking at the first flip, but for completeness took all of the flips into account. Technically once the first flip is a heads the second flip has a 50/50 chance again to be heads so would still be relevant information. Unless they have different chances for every subsequent flip but that would be a lot of work on their end and I don’t expect that to be the case
@@PokemonCardCollector9000 Game developer here (not for this game). While I do agree that most of us wouldn’t do something like tweak the odds on different flips of a coin, it would only take about 20 minutes and a few lines of code to make something like this possible. It’s not a hard thing to do, we would just question *why* it’s being done.
@@meteorfossil Yeaaah I figured after placing that comment that it actually wouldnt be too hard to change it haha, but thank you for the clarification!
I just wish she wasn't this polarizing, especially early game
Starting player should get energy but shouldn't be able to attack. This would already balance the game against Misty.
My prediction would be out will be slightly above 0.5. To make it feel fair, but give you a relatively good feeling when hitting the trails. The game relies on you being in the app and be seduced to buy things. Someone feeling good about their game will not quit out as fast.
great video, I wish the most viable strategies in the game weren't relient on coin flips, nothing is more frustrating then missing every Marowak coinflip
the strongest deck in the game is Pikachu EX , which barely has coinflips
I feel the same about Zapdos ex coin flip
Let’s say if a tails on misty = lose and you get like 10 heads in a single game, means there are 10 other games that you just lose on the spot. Sure you smash them that one game but all the other games feel just bad when you get tails over and over again
Yeah that is pretty much also what happened to me, I had a few games with some really good flips but then also way more games where I just didn’t get any heads at all
after missing 10 misty coin flips back to back. the card just felt unusable to me. and then i see the lapras bot hit like 5+ in a row multiple times for max tilt
yee
something to look for could be if the bias stay the same like is it a 50/50 split between 0 and 1+, then not counting the 0s is it 50/50 between 1 and 2+ etc...
Good idea actually, it should be technically. If you look at the occurances, if there is a big dataset then getting 2+ flips should occur in a 50/50 split with getting 1 heads. Same for if you get atleast 2 heads the chance of the next one is again just a 50/50 chance. At least it should be So again a 50/50 split between 2 and 3+
I've once counted 12 tails in a row using the misty card, then i switched to a marowak ex/dugtrio deck and started getting heads almost always
had the same experience
The bots I've went against (30+) always roll tails first on misty in the lapras event even on expert mode
They might have programmed the flips for the event slightly differently actually
I opened ten packs after linking my Nintendo account and didn't pull a single rare card
How do i give my own wonder pack ?? 😅😅
