© BBC. Part 1 of 3. Les Dawson hosts this edition of the popular game show. The celebrities all appeared on the BBC One travel show 'Holiday' in 1987. Les took over as host of Blankety Blank from Terry Wogan, and the show became even more popular with Les as host. I have several editions of Blankety Blank in my collection. Bob's Full House - Boxing Day 1984 - Part One

Annika Reeder TV debut.
Comfortable happy times . No worries about ‘ what’s if’
Used to love this show
Died from prostate cancer
Les was sooooo hilarious 😂 😃 😄 rip
2023
Les was just bloody wonderful. Much missed. R.I.P.
This has to Be one of Bob 's Best show . Television Genius!!!
i Love this show !!!
OH , Brucie , YOU Were one of the Best Television Presenters this Country has ever had . Legend !
s6; holiday special
Frank Bough was fired from the BBC after a prostitution and cocaine scandal lol
Les was amazing. An absolute class act.
The prizes were not bad on this show.
Love how Brucey adds it up in his mind at the end lol
I am now 69 and apart from Les I have no idea who the panel were.
Frank Bough was a household name but I don’t recognise any of the others.
Never heard of any the guest
Who wrote these idiotic questions, they never made any sense.
They must have spent a fortune on the production of the show with that huge set. Also, always wondered how Bob could read the questions while they were in the isolator, it doesn't look like there is anything on the thing he reads from.
What a pro
Muff?
Do we know what happened to the contestants? Would love to know how the show changed their lives.
Fuckinel...All the other celebs must have been working except Frank Bough.
For those of you foreign to British concepts here: at 3:00, John Inman from "Are You Being Served?" appears in drag. Around Christmastime in England, many theaters would put on pantomimes (plays/musicals based on children's stories). Often, these would feature men in drag as the main character's mother. The women would play the male lead, and one man would usually play the female "widow"/"mother". Mr. Inman is one of those, in "Mother Goose".
I thought that I had seen nearly every available episode of Are You Being Served and even many of the other Britcoms John Inman had starred in yet I never would have suspected that the figure in the Mother Goose costume was Mr Humphries.
@@howardkerr8174 There were only two he did for ITV
Les dawson was hilarious
Alan Freeman acting a bit rapey
think this was an early experiment by the BBC in diversity. We have Bernadette, a man with a suspicious mustache, a six foot schoolboy and Frank Bough. Seriously though, Bernadette was rather lovely. Oh yes.
"Lightly disguised garbage" hahaha 🤣🤣🤣
Wow! Anne Gregg (RIP) Who wouldn't fall in love with this lady xx
They don't make telly like this anymore
Good
I mean they do, Blankety Blank is still on.
The Brains needed to be on this show , its up there with Forrest Gump and Mr Bean ! Still, the Prizes could have been better ! but the van crashed yesterday and all the good stuff was written off , just like to say Thank you to Oxfam ,for graciously supplying the BBC with tonight's prizes . As for guests , their intelligence levels lasides and gentleman are quite remarkable , i was witnes to this backstage when they signed in at the entrance , ALL , their Names were spelled correctly ! Except for Paul o Grady ! Who sent us some scounce tart instead ! - just a little LD Style get up for ya ,,,,, ;-).
I've heard that opening joke numerous times and as Les was telling it, I thought why is he recycling an ancient joke and then came the unexpected punchline.
Even after 30 years, the set and graphics still look good.
But in the UK its not dollars so why the name?
The term $64,000 question is known globally, as it is now a common phrase to use when asking a very important question in life. So the British kept the name, but of course due to British game show prize rules, limiting prizes per edition, they had to change the payout to £6,400.
What are the rules
Anne Gregg, So sad, a lovely lady RIP xx
one liners quick of the press legend :)
Nice that this episode of the $64,000 Question is taken from the original ITV broadcast. I bet that if this was ever repeated on Challenge TV or any other channel in the future, I would expect the promotional slide calling for new contestants on the show (as seen at 11:13 - 11:27) to be plastered over with an endcap for CTE (Central Television Enterprises), Carlton International Media, ITV Studios Global Entertainment or even Granada International, given the fact that this programme (as you can see in the credits) was made by Central Independent Television for the ITV network.
The question good old Hugh Duncan?...................................Wasnt it meant to be Duncan Goodhugh?.
Anne Gregg, what a lovely stunning woman! RIP xxxxxx
Indeed she was
Love the theme song and the bit at the end where he danced with Rosemary 💕
10:42 It's a ZX Spectrum+, complete with Tasword Two, Computer Scrabble and Make-a-Chip. And that's the loading screen of Chequered Flag on the monitor, complete with tape loading error message. Whoops!
Your announcer is Peter Bolgar
Urgh, that set!
The set changed to the 'Roman' style studio set for the following series & for the first edition of the series Les Dawson came out wearing a toga to the laughter of the studio audience.
The younger contestants on here are probably 50+ now. Sheesh
On Io
I think Sheila had a thing for old Les
Jay McD She’s a bit fruity altogether!! Wonder if she’s on Facebook? Hhaaa!
Notice how Les decides to kiss Sheila on her face but Bernadette on her hand...........
I got a strong hunch Martin's gay
And he has the moustache to prove it.
And he looks like Andy bell from Erasure!!!
this looks like Trump Card in the USA in the 1990s. filmed at Trump casino in New Jersey. who, of course, is now our president in the USA.
