The pool pump can be running but you have to turn off any water features that cause extra evaporation. If you turn off a spa with an over flow just add some extra chlorine. If it drops then it's probably a check valve.

Sorry for getting back so late, your done by now but for next time if the O-ring is old it may be time to replace it. If it's new, sometimes you have to make sure it is stretched out good. Make sure it's lubed and sometimes it helps to have the tank half full before putting the lid on and as the water goes down make sure the O-ring stays seated.

It was about 100 sf. Always look at how big your cracks are and calculate off the package. I always by 2 extra and return what I don't need. Good luck.

You need either a wire brush or rub a chlorine tablet across it. You need to break the shell off of it. Add some Silvertrean or anything with Silver in it. Sorry for the late reply, hopefully you got it fixed by now.

Sorry for the late replay. Two things to try; 1st, you can try and force it out with an extension on your wrench and see if it can be fixed (here is a video on that ruclips.net/user/shorts79rbTQy2rnY?si=0sf5WnhFwffpbuHY) 2nd, if it does not come out and it's a DE filter you can just leave the backwash valve open and leave the water hose in it and running while you clean up and lube the o-ring. The water will eventually wash out most of the dirt. Sometimes I even put the filter back together and turn the pump back on while in backwash mode so the dirty water is washed out the backwash hose. With so many regions and plants available I just say to learn if it gives off lots of seeds or if it has a bad pollen problem like pine trees do. Say no to trees that have leaves that are so small they go through the skimmer basket. And never put live potted plants right next to the pool, rain and watering cause phosphates from fertilizer to get into the pool and cause algae.

No special chemicals, Chlorine is a great sanitizer but feel free to shock it if your going to go swimming later.

Those stains will fade away. Fun fact, you can order some cook self adhesive stickers that look like sea animals that stick on without draining the pool.

@@HappyPools I threaded the drain cap but it still was leaking. Turns out that it needed a new o ring g. Problem was solved. Praise God.

Yes, only when it is below the water level because it will not run dry. If it is level or above it will suck air and lose its prime. It's always scary at first but heck, it's Halloween season, isn't it? Just make sure you know how to turn the flow off just incase your pump is slow.
