Trying this out. I like to climb trees and often times find myself surrounded by beauty and wonder. Here I will share that with my viewers, whomever you may be. Enjoy.

A community member had a special request for firewood as her stove has a small fire box and can only receive a 15” piece, so we cut everything at 14” and hand split on site. Stacked and measured.

The sunshine shone brightly today; tank top weather for this woodman!

Whist enjoying a soak in the hot tub, I spotted an animal traversing the snowy south face of Cope Mountain. I thought it might be a bear, so I sent the UAV on a mission. Not a bear but a doe and her fawn. Happily enjoying a little knoll.

Collecting big wood from a burn site. Most of this wood is wet and heavy but dries rather quickly and burns, well as good as one can expect spruce to burn. We live on a resource deficient island and this wood has been laying to waste for 6 years!!! Not on my watch, as long as I have air in my lungs and the ability to save this precious limited resource from rotting away.. That is precisely what...

Been doing my best to save a natural, very limited resource-firewood. This wood was left to lay after a fire came through the area in 2016. Much of it has already begun to rot, however with a little resourcefulness there is plenty of good wood still laying around.
Enjoying the burn 🔥

Collecting and processing firewood is more over a way of life than anything else. I will , until I am able to no more, collect and process firewood! Makes my heart ❤️ happy.

I was thinking it looked a lot like my area, then I heard you say Gig Harbor. Not too far away from Olympia.
Did you literally talk to that bear!?
He just cracks me up! A dog with a mission and sure footed!
Lol on "a couple degrees warmer and I probably would be shirtless." 37 degrees is almost the perfect temp but I like 38. I sweat less at 38. Thanks for the splitting trick. I have seen the tire method somewhere but would like to see yours! You are making great use of that trailer! Shore shoulders! 😆 What a great load of wood!!!
Lol
"Excuse me dad... just gotta go show my STICK off to... Someone!"

Heyyyyy! Kodiak on the tube! My favorite place on the planet, for sure!
Mine too!!
So peaceful.
Straight and tight-grained Spruce! Do you use a fro and mallet at all for splitting?
No fro and mallet but an axe and wedge!
Best drone shots ever
Thanks Unc.. More to come.
Wow! The moon was gorgeous! Alaska is so beautiful! Lived in Fairbanks for 2 years.
It really is!
Gorgeous!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Don't know a lot about wood but god damn that is some straight ass grain
Here ya go showing us the true Akaska again! I am telling you, Kodiak is some kind of beautiful when captured thru your lens! Gracias!
I don't think I have ever seen a Jeep commercial where they were using it as a skidder! Jeep needs to know another use for their adventure vehicle!
I’ll skid me some logs with my Jeep any day. Especially dry sitka spruce.. Light as a feather.
A great operation you got going there. It never ceases to amaze me how everything that you put your heart and hands into is...having a hard time thinking of a word or term. Here are some words that come to mind - quality, abundance, artistic, conscientious, resourceful, helpful, joyful, validated, provision, skilled.
Thank you very much! Life is short, being able to do that which brings me joy is the greatest gift ! I don’t intend to take it for granted but enjoy it each and every day.
Gotta love a clean split even if there is no sign it's gonna split!
I was thinking about this comment today when I had three wedges sunk into a block of stubborn spruce.

make sure you dont break to hard!!
Probably wondering where the porridge has gone 😮
absolutely love these guys
Ah, the life of a bear family. Nice filming!
Where does a bear go in the woods? Anywhere he wants to! On the move with a mission!! Great capture
Are you kidding me right now!
I can see clearly! What a great sighting! Thanks Shane
Very welcome
A man, a jeep, a rope, a dog, a saw, a trailer - complete
Was there a lake in that cirque beyond the ridge?
No, just a bowl..
Phew, that’s a long way up! Sorry for not coming down to see you nephew. Take care in those trees!
Take care of you Uncle Matt. I love you. See you some other time 🤗..
With a scene like that I'd never stop working
I didn't hear the birds chirping but heard the rooster crowing!
I'm in Denali park this looks fun
It is!
Despite their name, mountain goats are not goats at all, nor are they closely related to them, the Mountain Goat (Oreamnos americanus) is the only living representative of its genus, its closest living relatives are the chamoises (genus Rupicapra), both genera Oreamnos and Rupicapra are grouped together into the subtribe Rupicaprina, which belongs to the tribe Naemorhedini, which groups both the chamoises and mountain goat with the gorals (genus Naemorhedus) and serows (genus Capricornis) of the subtribe Naemorhedina, Naemorhedini is now one of three tribes included within the subfamily Ovibovinae, Ovibovinae is a subfamily of bovids native mostly to Eurasia and lives mostly in cold-climate habitats, the three tribes within the subfamily Ovibovinae are Hemitragini (Tahrs (contains 3 genera: Arabitragus, Nilgiritragus, and Hemitragus)), Naemorhedini (Gorals, Serows, Chamoises, and Mountain Goat (contains 4 genera: Oreamnos, Rupicapra, Capricornis, and Naemorhedus)), and Ovibovini (Muskox and Takin (contains 2 genera: Budorcas and Ovibos)), it is shown that the tahrs (tribe Hemitragini) are the most basal extant tribe of ovibovines, while the tribe Naemorhedini is the sister group to the tribe Ovibovini, it is also found out that the subfamily Ovibovinae (Muskox, Takin, Gorals, Serows, Chamoises, Mountain Goat, and Tahrs) is fairly similar to and most closely related to the subfamilies Hippotraginae (Grazing Antelope) and Alcelaphinae (Hartebeests, Wildebeests, Hirola, Tsessebe, Topi, Korrigum, Taing, and Hirola).
Wow 🤩 Thank you for sharing all that information.. If these critters are not mountains goats 🐐, what shall I call them?
Ooh! Thank you for showing this!
You bet!
I must say, your skills in a tree are something that few of us get to enjoy firsthand but let me thank you for giving us a taste, a view, a feeling of what it's like.
Wow, thank you
Oh wait, that RIP is a RAP?
RIP...
Hobbs sure likes to lead the way once he knows what direction you're going
Yes he does but I’d still rather not have his ass in front of me while we’re walking together. I prefer he is by-my-side!
Looks like a nice fresh water source for drinking if you think about camping out, lol as soon as I was typing this, you said the same thing
Alex asked, “is that your driveway.”
Road to Saltry Cove. Along the American River.
Nice! I've had two Wranglers. Fun to drive on the beach!
I have been enjoying this rig but it’s not too practical for a woodman-thinking about trading it in for a truck!
We rented one of those in Oahu and found a beach where we could drive on and did a little but not knowing how it would do in really deep, soft sand with street radials on it, I didn't test it.
If you come to Kodiak, we’ll go explore!
A log splitter! Looks like a industrial grade one too!
Homemade but definitely tough, tougher than me!!
