I discussed with Retcon Raider, who told me that there was a mission planned where the Refugees caused a fire on the Gippers' property, which caused a conflict. There were references in the map files to a confrontation with them, where we could either resolve the conflict peacefully or have a firefight.

If I had the choice to go back to the initial confrontation between Ludlow and Crow, I would have arrested them both, instead of just Ludlow. They're both fucking egomaniacal psychos. I had to turn on Crow when she decided she wanted to attack Steeltown after I got back from the Ghosts. Like, there's a fucking army on the way. I dealt with Ludlow, which was the main problem, and you can actually work in peace, the way you want. Markham seems like the kind of person to actually have been open to negotiation, I don't think she's intentionally cruel, and according to Blue, she just lost her way. She built a robot to be a yes-man to her, so she was convinced she wasn't doing anything wrong, even though she knew deep down that she was being shitty. By what Ludlow says, he was blocking any attempt for the workers to even talk to Markham, so he was undoubtedly the main problem. He was the one that made workers pay for bathroom breaks and sleep, and beat and abused the workers. But then Crow wanted to negotiate, and threatened to attack and kill many people in Steeltown right before an army of bandits come? She was threatening the safety of the entire facility just so she could satisfy her ego, and she pushed me way too far. She had to go. And look at that. If you convince Markham and the Synths to work together, everything gets immediately better. Workers aren't abused and deprived of rights. People are actually getting work, and they can come and go as they please. And the synths aren't enslaved, because you convinced Markham that they're actually sentient. And even Blue is really happy with this outcome.

@@HollowBagel To satisfy her ego? What was egotistical about it? No change had even been hinted at, and keep in mind that Markham *knew* things were very wrong and kept following the CE. She didn't suspend or fire Ludlow for his appalling behavior and attitude. She could've done anything to try and hear out the workers -- even if Ludlow was blocking *them,* she knew there was a strike and that people were very upset. She wanted them to go back to work but clearly held nothing but disdain for the complaints and allegations the workers had. In post-apocalyptic Colorado, there is always going to be another crisis. In his Letter from a Birmingham Jail, MLK Jr. condemns the moderate "who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; What timetable should they have been waiting for? After the bandits are gone? How many people should be maimed in dangerous working conditions on the promise of "maybe later?" How about when production needs to catch up with those delayed orders? And frankly, I think Markham having any change of convictions or character by this point is contrived no matter how many points of Kiss Ass your party has active. We see what she does and does not value. Her state of denial doesn't make her innocent, it only provides the motivation for the *wrong way she acted.* People do bad things for reasons, that does not make the things they did not-bad. I can't imagine what Crow did wrong. Your choices were to be a strikebreaker now that the *symptom* of the problem has been removed, or to support the strikers. She just made it clear what that choice meant. Shake hands with the boss if it makes you feel wise.
