My Lutgern Pastor is very schooled on Diedrich Bonhoefer. I think whatever was said by him . Either went over my head or I just considered it Jibberish. I do get the idea that Luther and Dietrich Bonhoefer were very different people.

Less impressive was your assumption that modern Christians are lingering to “same old beliefs” about scriptural principles, while contrasting that to the more presumably more valid “same old” Enlightenment assumptions. This is classic ad hominem. I’m stunner at the use of the term “a priori” as a posture when anyone who’s read Kant knows it’s an epistemology. I highly recommend Charles Marsh's _Strange Glory: A Life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer_ if you're looking for a responsible and highly readable biography.

Lars is a wise ass punk. His church attendance numbers are an embarrassment, he's running his church into the ground. His mocking of God's Word is likely the underlying reason for this. He'll be out on his ass pretty soon.

I was memorizing this verse the past two weeks. In Amharic, it doesn't explain it the same way it's rather more general. If I could translate it for full context, it says; My heart burned and my kidneys have melted, I am contempted and I didn't know, and I became like an animal towards you... Honestly, I used to think of it as a warrior's way of explaining things, anyways when I read the English version I was in tears. I remember an accurate time I was like that in front of God about a year ago and how that would've potentially destroyed my life if it wasn't for God's gentle care and guidance. I understand Asaph word for word now. Thank God who knows how to restore and hold. I am forever grateful for his love and it's my honor to have him as my forever portion. LOL, the gift of "bulking" has never been one of my gifts either. I have been the same height and weight since my late teenage years though that's not a bad thing and I am thankful for it.

The believers have grown weak because God's Holy Word, the Foundation, is changing constantly with new versions, just like the new age which introduced new religions every week! The King James Bible is mathematically perfect see "Truth Is Christ". Numerics prove man could not be the author. China is writing a new version, A.I. is producing a new version, the list goes on. The Religious Right have merged with the Conservative Party in the United States to become one entity, much like what occured in The Third Reich under Adolf Hitler. The stated goal of the Religious Right Leadership is to install a Theocratic Autocracy upon an increasingly secular population. The parallels between Germany in the 1930's and the United States at this moment in 2024, are alarming. I watched it slowly evolve during the 1970's with Jerry Falwell's Moral Majority movement, and its close affiliation with the GOP, as a means to grab power and control. Christ has been used as a prop to attain it. Weave patriotism, mythologies, and a self centered Christianity together and we get a new version of what the Nazi Party accomplished by merging Church and State into one entity under Herr Hitler. V. Putin has done the same in Russia, as in other nation states around the globe. It is tragic that Bonhoeffer's wtitings have not been taught in US History classes concerning the development of Fascism, what it is, and how it goes about consolidating power to gain control. We are watching it unfold in real time in the here and now. Many Christians are ignorant of History, and are blinded by the prospect of domination, wealth, and worldly ambition. God's Kingdom is not built upon man's foundational structures, but in the hearts of His disciples, living in the world, but serving Him, and tending to the needs of those all around us. Worldly ambition and grasping power is an exact contradiction to the teachings of Jesus. I contend that this is a false gospel that would attempt to reshape true faith into a political/ religious organization, using coersive laws to impose legalistic rules upon society. The fruit of that is greed and lust for power. That is what the serpent offered Eve, and through her, to Adam, and here we are, right where it all started. A self serving religion is not true religion at all. "True religion and undefiled is to love God with the whole heart, and to care for the orphan and the widow in their distress."" I will tell thee, oh man, what is good, and what does the Lord require of thee, but to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with thy God" We need God at the center of our beings to live that out. Thank you for this presentation, and for the warning about Eric Metaxis's scewed version of Bonhoeffer's biography. Metaxis is part of the Religious Right Nationalist's usurpation of true faith in the Jesus of the scriptures.

It’s blasphemy to call your protestant CULT a church. Only Jesus can found a Church which he did two thousand year’s ago called the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church which is also his mystical body on earth! To reject the holy Catholic Church is to reject Jesus Christ himself. Protestant’s belong to 40,000+ man made CULTS which are Pagan and anti Christ. To call protestant’s Christian is unbiblical heretical anti Christ and blasphemy! Only Catholic’s go to Heaven because there’s NO division’s in paradise. Here in the UK we do not have a State religion, but the Queen, as Head of State, is also Head of the Church and Defender of the Faith. An interesting paradox. We do not pay church taxes and each individual Parish has to find funds to help keep the Church building whole but the Church of England does have huge invested wealth which is used to pay Priests and help with the running of Parishes. Now we have a new Monarch who styles himself Defender of all Faiths but is a practicing Christian. His son, our next Monarch, says he has no affiliation with Christianity or interest in the Church. Are we heading towards Religionless Christianity? As I have grown older my position has changed and now I view a secular society as one in grave danger: was it Jung or Nietzsche who suggested that God is dead and in that case humanity will replace Him with another God? I fear we have reached that point in Europe.

Hey hopla! If Bonhoeffer would be alive today he will never agree with LGBT agenda in the church. He was as radical as a true follower of Christ should be and not allowing the sin to spraed out wings in the Churches only because the society got sick in our days!

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was teaching theology before the war and wrote books also in that time. The Book "Discipleship" was wrote in 1936
