I've never been much of a Moulin Rogue fan, but this scene has always stuck with me. For this one song, the POV of the film shifts to the Duke, and you're just perfectly in sync with how uncomfortable, overwhelmed and confused he is by the player's proposal.
I remember my English teacher made us watch this movie at the very beginning of the school year and he had…POSTERS and posters everywhere in his room, we decided to do a reenactment for his birthday in the cafeteria, some people actually joined in. What went from 15+ people to like 35. He actually played along and said the dukes line so perfectly. “And in the end should some one die?”. It was greater because the duke was his favorite character and actor! He had the handlebar mustache at the beginning of the year and a bowler hat. He truly loved it. He was the greatest English teacher!
When I first saw this scene, I was literally LMAO. It is so random . and the "it's a little bit funny... this feeling inside..." awkward silence.... that still makes me LOl
I watched the MR musical today in London. It was not worth it and I come back here to seek comfort from the movie. Argh they didn’t sing the original songs from the film but pop music. Like Lorde and Katy Perry Lady Gaga..
This is my favorite scene in the movie, and I am about to see the Broadway Production on stage tomorrow. I am beyond excited, but I don't think this scene will be in the production.
Still amazes me with how these high caliber actors sing and dance at the same time sounding perfect all the way through, live. The stamina is insane. I love this movie and the musical.
The "whs whs whs" is my boyfriend's favorite part in the whole movie. Forget all the on point acting, set design, costuming, musical composition, tragically delighting story that makes you cry for an hour and a half straight... nope. He just likes when Zidler goes "whs whs whs" in this one scene. 🙄

That's awesome!!
this is so wholesome
Movie magic that is sadly gone, for now, from cinemas, today. Thank you, so-called ''inclusivity''. (Rolls eyes)
So much cocaine in just one scene...
Obi-Wan and Faramir

And the Duke's "mmm" 😂
1:25 So, so random The audience will have a confused cheer
Love the fact that this is them weedling themselves out of an awkward situation and getting something out of it too.
This is what one of my dreams would be like
what song are they using, I forgot the name of the original, please someone help, thaaaank you!!!
It's a classical tune called Galop Infernal from the 19th century.

The movie has pop music intertwined too.
I once find this musical weird, especially how they act. Not until I understood the meaning.
At 0:48 you can see a crew member with a baseball cap behind Nicole pushing the guy in the swing 😅
Omgg, yes I will not see the scene in the same way again It wouldn't have looked that bad if he didn't have that out-of-date cap, lol
This is my favorite scene in the movie, and I am about to see the Broadway Production on stage tomorrow. I am beyond excited, but I don't think this scene will be in the production.
How it was? ❤
Curious as well
Nicole Kidman comprometida 1000% con la película. Ayer vi Moulin Rouge por primera vez y aún no logro superar esta escena.
This movie had the best cast, best plot and best script
One of the best scenes in the movie, foreshadowing too.

I just love the Duke, lol
1:55 best part of the whole film

You're kidding, right?
lol, the audio and video are separate reels combined and synced up
I agree. Seems like the other dweebs never seen the broadway act.
Generally I like it

Well, your boyfriend has a point and good taste That part is just priceless, lol
Tbf.... that part is pretty good
But he is right tho. It is so random (how did they even come up with it, lol) and funny, it becomes one of the best bits in the movie, lol
Moulin Rouge is evil art. Watch my breakdown of this so-called classic here ruclips.net/video/MAxrQpPLHrE/видео.html
The new Can Can. 😉
Offenbach - Infernal Galop
“And in the end shall someone die” …you could say that 😭😭
fun fact: the original track is from overture to "Orfeus in the Underworld"
This feels more bollywood than hollywood
Baz was inspired by a Bollywood film he saw when he was making this
@@obesewhale1899which one, do you remember?! 😮
This whole film felt like a fever dream.
Does David Wenham play a woman in this movie?
I don't remember this part in "Romeo + Juliet".. XD
Neither do I. I must have fallen asleep or something. 🤣
This is a great movie. But it’s gotta be the cringiest film imaginable for people who hate musicals. 🤣
I used to dislike musicals but watching this I’m more open to them now
Merlin's beard....slughorn getting down....
