A short clip of 'When Is The Future'
Loved les wished we'd got people like this now, all to fake and full of themselves
One of the greatest comedians of all time. The world is a much duller place without Les.
Les, we need you now. We have no laughs.
There is no comedy now, just reflections, not a smile.
I am midway through his autobiography, easily one of the best written biographies around. At this time you can still pick it up for less than the price of postage. The reason he looks so gobsmacked is he was worried his wife was having an affair, due to silent phone calls and home visits of strange men to his house when he was out. Of course it was only the show team arranging this episode.
Aok 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
IM so glad to have stumbled upon this guy, literally laughed until i cried -
that raised platform on set is a health & safety nightmare 😂
Genius - thank you for uploading.
Bring back the good times we miss
Honestly. Bit tacky of this doco to term Les’s wife as ‘widow’. Why not just ‘wife’
100%. I’m only 57 so was very thing at the height of most of these but I live in the past. Today comics are so afraid to offend their comedy is often talking about one subject - themselves. And that’s an act that gets old very very quick.
I met him in Wolverhampton many years ago at the theatre bar. the matinee performance of a Pantomime. and just wanted to say how much I loved him as a comedian. i timidly touched him on the shoulder and said, ''Mr. Dawson? '' He turned and said, ''Do I owe you any money?''I said No.... and he replied, '' Do you want to borrow any money?'' I said no..''In that case, I AM the right honorable Les Dawson.''and asked if we were coming to the afternoons performance. '' Take my advice and don't ! I have no idea who I am supposed to be, and I make all my lines up in the afternoon anyway.. '' it was as if I was talking to an old friend. Well we did go of course, and he was superb... as usual.
One of the best comics every No swearing no sexist remarks No racist remarks just go old Fashion comedy Not like today’s comedians Sexist disgusting and racist Remarks The old comedy was a lot Funny than todays Crap
southern comedians try to be funny..Northern comedians ARE funny!
V G by B😢
Don't like evethat blonde she can't act her voice is sickly. Every one is praising him she seems to snidley pick holes like we were all actors and he sort of bended in or he thought he was thinner than he was les knew who hw was a genius
What a genius, he was often much quicker than his audience, show me someone as funny today, you can try but you'll fail.
If u ever on a downer just watch Les best upper ever
Absolutely 💯 brilliant. Along with the greats😊
My dad used to work at Lytham crematorium & knew les Dawson. Les used to come to the crematorium to visit his wife's grave . Whenever they saw each whilst driving they'd wind the window down & stick two fingers up at each other.
Dawson: the face that launched a thousand expats! With his piano playing, it wasn't just that every fifth or sixth note would be off key, but that the deliberate choice of ''wrong'' notes were perfectly crafted to garuntee a laugh. Genius.
Legendary Genius ,,,,,
Hmmm not quite Frankie Boyle
I have often wondered if Les had immediately been treated, when admitted into hospital, if he would have survived the heart attack? Clean and funny comedian
Apparently Hughie Green tied the Opportunity Knocks people into very unreasonable contracts.
My parents were born in collyhurst …My father was the youngest of 15 and they lived in a two up and two down,,, coal fire ..no hot water…and my mother came from a family of seven……. They were all immaculate …that all went out into the world and achieved great things…. Unbelievable..How things have changed…..
Ever associated with the great Les, it's a shame to hear of Mo Moreland's passing the other day. ❤
if only he had taken better care of himself
Les had so much skill and so much presence; he could just stand on the stage and, without saying a word, with just a look or a glance, make you laugh in anticipation. His performances on The Good Old Days are absolute classics!
Absolutely, he's still good now we're awash in middle class biege safe bast&ds at the moment. But, yeh, presence he was the ideal choice for blankety blank.
Great character !
Dawson, Dodds, Manning, Freddie Starr, Cooper, Benny Hill, Milligan, and Sellers, you'll never see their likes again. We all now live in a PC world. Todays comics in the main, with the odd exception, are rubbish.
Sir, you are so right!
Add Dave Allen, Eric and Ernie and the two ronnies and you’ve got the golden list.
This is why I live in the past with the aforementioned
And on the buses

Met Les once in the Empire bar during pantomime season. I was a serving PC in Liverpool at the time in charge of the kids of serving officers from F division. I was in the bar and he came in dressed as Widow Twankey. Just the two of us. Ever stopped laughing for 30 minutes!😊 Anyway when he went back on stage he told the kids I was in charge of to get their heads down for the night as their chaperone was pissed in the bar!! Maybe one or two minor details might be wrong, I’m old now, but i will always be proud of that memory. A wonderful man.
Just makes you realise how much we have let go.
His face what a lovely fella Les was Hughie green showed up a few years ago in some UFO documents seems his military service was quite interesting
Love les dawson ❤♥😍
Thank you.
You're welcome!
My friend big ounce. You made me laugh out loud for the first time in shit long
Genius.
As a young lad I would wait in great anticipation for Les to come onto the telly, or listen to his Radio show on a Saturday. He was my most favourite comedian of all time, and still is. His passing was as though a member of my family had died. I was gutted. A genius. A legend.
One of my all-time heroes of comedy :-) He also wrote a very nice science fiction novel, too, was a boxer in his youth, a pianist in a Paris brothel and so much more. Loving seeing him again, with his wonderful sense of humour and that wonderful face that could make you laugh without him needing to say a single word :-)
Roy Barrowclough was actually a shirtlifter in real life, so this role suited him.
Superb, old school comedian, without being racist or sexist. {:o:O:}
28:05 I loved the Roly-Polys!
Rib Tickling funny.
What a fabulous comedian was Les, laughter all the way.
We were lucky to have these comedians, back in the day !--when you could take the piss out anyone,-and roar laughing!-they brought the house down, where ever they went !--the can give us a laugh,-looking back-now these dreadful-"1984"-times are with us !--thank god I wont be around much longer !
