I loved the concept of the movie. It was very close to home. But didn't vibe with the execution.

"Unexpressed emotions come out in the most ugliest ways." I have experienced this quote myself and also found the same being expressed here in this movie... The movie deals with a topic which is a niche. The niche is regarding being oneself. In reality, things are too simple. Everything boils down to survival and sustenance. Either you have to be on survival mode or sustenance mode. Survival mode for those who are not affluent or sophisticated yet and Sustenance mode is for those who is from a sophisticated setup and they are supposed to sustain the lifestyle and the legacy. Best example is Ambanis... Although we got to see the lavish wedding of the century, none of the children have the choice to choose a life away from the industry/Business/Family. They are meant to stick with it and cant ever think about leaving it. I wish to say something... This movie depicts the story in career aspect but the actual reality arises at home... The way you live and the practices you do... Everything is a ritual and is done in a mechanical way... People are mechanical to each other. There is no honesty and unconditional love amongst the family. Every one has a mask worn around in order to stay together as a 'Family'. I see it very much around... If in case the masks fall, no family would remain a family. And there starts the actual TAMASHA... Request a movie on this.

Comparing cigarette with freedom doesn't make sense even from Anurag Kashyap. Smoking is injurious to self and also others. Anurag Kashyap could had used a different analogy for his struggle with the censor board. The organization and people around Kay were trying to eradicate his addiction so he could live a healthy life. Quitting smoking cannot kill his soul but rather clean it, now its his subjective thinking/personal opinion that people are trying to oppress him but reality could be different. His smoking habit was responsible for broken marriage and ill brother. The result of Kay losing his fingers and soul is an effect of relapsing even after warning. Every wrong doing has a price to pay.
