Drumprovisation (Aug 26/24)
A "drumprovisation" is an entirely improvised composition on the drums. A drumprovisation is borne of the raw materials and emotions within.
I plan on making more of these as inspiration strikes.

Back in the Groove Again (as easy as ABC)
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.3 месяца назад
As I listen back I cannot help but hear Jackson 5's ABC, because of how I accent with the cymbal hits. I have missed playing and it feels good to get back in the groove. #drums #drumming #drummer #improvisation #composition #solo

Sledgehammering Peter Gabriel

Announcer: "Today, it's hammer time in the Morton mobile. Coming out swinging and bringing the pain is Master Sean himself." Crowd cheers. "A master of what you ask? A master of murdering perfectly good songs with his multiple personalities." Ash, who happened to be present in the crowd, chimed in, "Gotta catch 'em all!" Announcer continues: "Soooo, today's torturous treat goes out to Petey: Ha...
Somebody to Love (Queen) Drum Audition

This is an oldie from when I auditioned for the Queen Extravaganza band contest. I can tell why I didn't win, but it is a fun watch. Enjoy!

Day 16 of Advent Drumming Recorded April 4, 2012 This offering is from my one-and-only show with EHO. It was one of our edgier songs, and everyone's in fine form on it. Rock on!

Day 15 of Advent Drumming Recorded June 17, 2010 I played for the 2010 Spring with the lovely Kory Darnel. It was a brief but enjoyable experience. Here is a song that I had fun with from my one-and-only live performance with her.

Walk Through The Fire - Peter Gabriel (a drum cover)
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.9 лет назад
Day 11 of Drumming Advent Recorded September 8, 2014 I have wanted to record drums to this song ever since I first heard it years ago on my mom's vinyl of the Against All Odds soundtrack. Peter Gabriel kept this track relatively sparse in the drumming department, especially when one considers his percussive behemoths like In Your Eyes. And so I wanted to give this one the Stamp of Sean Morton. ...

Day 10 of Drumming Advent Recorded September 10, 2014 This one may be a bit harder to get into for some or many. It borders on drum solo, but is meant to be viewed rather as a complicated groove. Here are some variations on the theme, as it were.
Half-Paced, but not Half-Baked (Rhythmic Offering #9)

Day 9 of Advent Drumming Recorded September 15, 2014 This title is really quite apt, because today I have finally completed my B.A. in Caregiving and Counseling. It took me a while, and drums did interrupt its progress, but I can now assure you I am not half-baked!

This does put a smile on my face
What type of drumset is that
Peace Paragon Maple drum kit in orange sparkle.
Dafuq? You are fk goated bro!
Those hats sound amazing
They are Sabian 14" HHX Stage Hats. Partly I think the phone mic is responsible.
Good to see you back in the saddle, Sean!
Wow WOW!!!!
I absolutely love this album. We give kids wore this album out year after year. The best Christmas album ever.
Brilliant, one of my favourite songs
Solid job!!! This is a tough one for sure, I’m gunna try this one out soon
Well, thank you, Ben. Glad to inspire you to make the rhythm your own! Even gave me a reason to listen to this echo of the past.
@@DrummaSean bro you slayed this beat, im a sucker for tom & hi-hat groves, it's just so fucking sexy, more drummers need to post groves like these. It's how you know your linear patterns are progressing & your confidence to actually use the kit haha.
Dont think Larry Mullins hits that many cymbals in a gig!!!
@Diarmuid This comment made me laugh. So true!!! Hadn't seen this vid for years and I do feel it is more than a bit much cymbalness, certainly a far cry from how I'd jam to this tune now.
❤️
So happy to find this. I love love it. Yall are incredible. Thank You so much! ❤
That was a great grove but it was the recording that did it for me. Was that just the room that gave it that echo, it added so much
suckmadick youtube The room naturally has that echo. Definitely have never thought to add audio effects to any of my drumming videos.
Now as kid from the 70's that was chritmas music Grants albums what great memories!
I adore them
Love it! Love it!
Absolutely charming and what a sweet job Groucho did.
what a good baby....he's just sitting there, not cranky from waking up or anything.....
What cute group of children!!! Nicely, dressed, nothing like the way they dress nowadays. (Hey, aren't Americans racist? These guys were not stoned out of the stage; people actually applauded them...)
looking at this interview it's hard to believe that it was so much of racism going on in the country at the time what a class act
Great episode lovely family
Wow they wasn't planning on being famous wow😁 They are great
Papa was a rolling stone.............wherever he left his hat and coat was his home.6:00 shame on leon for leaving his beautiful wife and kids.
Ken Morgan .... I agree!
It saddens me... I saw Unsung today and it was of course about the Sylvers. Well, I was amazed by the song Olympia and to have as much exposure as they had during that time is awesome. what saddens me is what happened to Olympia. her innocence totally taken. And the obvious love Shirley & Leon had for each other end with Shirley's struggle. It's breaking, but I absolutely love the song Olympia and to see their performance of it
+Alexis Renee Yes!!! Their Unsung was great.
The one Sylvers kid that D.O.C. sampled wasn't born yet, right?
That's the oldest Leon who wrote it, but Foster sang it.
steeltownbrown52 ....Right, foster wasn't born yet.
Where's Pat and Angie.... not born yet ?
+SilkySlim Nope the last 4 Angelia Patricia Foster and Christopher weren't born yet. But that was Angelia she was pregnant with
SilkySlim ..... Not born yet, but Angie was in mom's belly during this show. 😊
Rest In Peace Shirley Sylvers,.. you did a fabulous job creating a wonderful talented family !!!
+SilkySlim What was she a mad scientist? I believe they both until this point had something to do with forming and raising their family. But I do not believe that scientists started creating people until the 1970s.
I never saw the sylvers father before, just seeing the mother on unsung a few years back.
How could any man walk away from his family? I'll never understand it. Weak move Mr. Sylvers.
Leon and Shirley went on to have not just one more, but three more kids for a total of 10. They kids went on to start a singing group in the 70's call The Sylvers with hit like Boogie Fever and Hotline.
good info thanks
Awesome video dude!
+JefeChops My pleasure. : )
Precious children.
Black Royalty....
DUDE. Watched this THREE TIMES in succession. THREE. That is all.
+Survivor2002 So glad to hear that you enjoyed it so much! This cover has also given me much satisfaction and repeat listens. : D
This is awesome. Groucho was such a great host and the young Sylvers are so adorable and talented
I Missed This Kind Of Black Love Within The Black Family.....My Question is, WHY Did Leon Sr. Leave Shirley With All Those Children To Raise By Herself? ....Sorry To Get So Personal.
hard to imagine...but even happens today now more than ever. idk how people abandon their own offspring.
dee rasta I Would Have Loved To Have That Much Children. (Even Though I Have One Daughter In Which I'm Blessed To Have) And Look At Shirley Sylvers, She Has Fine Written All Over Her.
I Love this!!!
great version pops and all. Grants lives on .
I've listened to her sing this song since the 1960s on an LP by Grants store! It's my favorite version! She's sings it really fast and jazzy! Thanks for putting it on here!
+Linda Bennett So glad to brighten the season that tinsel bit more for you! It, too, is my favourite version of this song. : )
+Linda Bennett Agree 100%. For me it was in the 70s. I love this song. Who can forget the remarkable Silver Bells by Mahalia Jackson or the Jazzy Winter Wonderland by Aretha Franklin. We played those Grant's Christmas LPs all the time. What wonderful memories my parents gave us!
Groucho was about two light-years ahead of most hosts of the era in presenting African-Americans in the best possible light ,((I could say the same for Ed Sullivan and Ted Mack.) I don't think he saw color, as long as they were funny and/or entertaining.
I loved the Sylvers!☺
My aunt Shirley was so beautiful. Looks a lot like my sister Stephanie.
are shirley and leon still alive wonderful family I remember the sylvers songs boogie fever and hot line
Sadly, no. I've never met Leon Sr, but I know he died many years ago and my aunt Shirley died just a few years ago.
***** I read that he developed a drinking problem and left her with 10 children ?? He looks like such a nice man !
That sound like a probable explanation, but I'm not privy to what happened exactly. From what I've heard about him, he was an awesome guy. Highly intelligent, but as I know all too well, alcoholism can change a person entirely. All the siblings on my dad's side, with the exception of aunt Shirley, were alcoholics, so she wasn't a stranger to that. She lived a pretty good life, otherwise. She'd come visit us in TX from time to time during her later years. She was an amazing woman and we missed her. She was the very last of her siblings after my dad passed in 08.
***** I love that video I've watched it twice now thanks for all the info by the way are u a son of one of the original sylvers just curious ?
Who was the youngest Sylver here? I didn't catch his name.
+Les Toil, that's Ricky!!
Ricky was the youngest on this video.
+Von 615 Thank you!
Aww so cute! Thank you so much for sharing. Amazing quality too.
Oh how sweet! I love this family. seen a video of later years and the family has lost some and the dad left the mother with all those children plus more. shame on him. Somehow they made it.
This is priceless. Sad that Leon & Shirley split a few years later. Whats great is what happened to this awesome group of children. The Sylvers!!!
Now that's HISTORY!!
Great Couple! Educated! Positive image of Black People! Props to Groucho !!
+George Mosley Positive example to ALL people.
It looks like Charmaine and Olympia were very close. They all look like they are a very close knit family. Beautiful clip.
Wow, I'm from Opelousas, Louisiana too
