Mudeford Lifeboat mayday call to yacht
Mayday Call at 5 o'clock in the morning to a yacht dragging it's anchor toward the shore with one person onboard. The concern was our crewmember that we transferred being washed or knocked overboard and being washed onto the rocks. We stayed between the yacht and the shore while setting the tow so that we would be able to recover our crew quickly should she get washed off the foredeck of the yacht.

Mudeford Lifeboat MAYDAY CALL FROM RIB Sept 2013
Best lifeboat service in the world!
why were the clowns in the small rib out at sea that day?
I don't quite understand this one? It looks more like a training excercise to me rather than a real distress call or may day? Why didn't the skipper of the RIB in need of assistance just take the boat inshore and to safety himself once he realised conditions were out of hand? As the vast majority of us would have. The RIB in distress was also heading out to sea, rather than back inshore? The sea conditions were not unmanageable for a RIB of that class and size to likely get back safely alone, at least so close to shore. Really no need for any assistane on that score unless the boat in distress had stearing or engine problems, which doesn't appear to be the case? Odd.
Why in the hell were they out in gale force 8
A little more weight in the nose should keep her head down in the puffs.
Great footage! Is it possible for me to use and share this footage on my youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, etc. Of course full credit will be given to the owner of the footage. Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards. Cheers.
Hi seven seas yes you are welcome to use the footage. Ian
@@atlantic18 many thanks!
why don´t they sail in front of the small rib so they break the waves??
Good point, it was a consideration but we are only a 8.5 m Rib so I think difference to them may not have been as beneficial as having them in full view in front. Should anything go wrong on board we would observe it and be able to immediately assist if anyone went overboard rather than having to turn around and go back and re approach from down sea. There is always options and its good to be able to analyse the footage to discuss them. Thanks Ian
استغفر الله العظيم واتوب اليه
ياالله
whoever is tailing them with that drone has some serious skill and a steady hand
If people are stupid enough to out in these conditions they should be left to drown ....
it is disgusting how long these tossers take to launch the boats.... i could be 5 miles out easy by the time they launch. its pathetic,. the boats should be ready to go at an instant, every second counts when a mayday call goes up, and tossers like this taking minutes instead of seconds..... putting the trailer ion the water can be done at 30 mph not 2 mph...... and before you ask, yes i do have a boat and yes i have launched before to rescue people while the rnli are flaffing about.. dont worry about putting on crash helmets until you are IN THE BOAT... this is a LIFE & DEATH situation.. when i go to sea on a boat i have everything ready up top as soon as i pull up from a 70 mile trip to the ramp.... if ramp is not busy i am in the water and going out within a minute of starting the car. getting boat back on trailer your not ina hurry and dont matter if it takes a while until your ready to be pulled out, but launching this realy is taking the piss........ Could you imagine if the London fire brigade fucked about like this ?
I don’t get how the coast guards inflatable boats rescue the bigger boats. Much respect to them tho.
Ribs can some of the safest rough weather crafts mine is a 11m Rafnar will go anywhere in any conditions small craft at 11m but she will out shine 99% or larger vessels
The Coastguard is responsible for co-ordinating rescues, the RNLI are the ones doing the rescuing.
The RNLI is the UKs #1 facilitator of illegal immigration.
Let’s hope you need them at some point, the job of rlni is to save lives. Politics has nothing to do with the work these heroes do G,f,y dick
Wrong.
Hi ,iF THAT WAS MY RIB EYE , I WOULD HAVE LEFT IN THE DOCK and not gone out ,if returning from Salty,s I O W Yarmouth .I would have caught the ferry if it was running .Well done R L N I .I HOPE THEY PUT A HUGE PILE OF CASH IN YOUR FUND
Respect Absolute Respect!
Thank you RNLI
Thank you for what you do
what was the call out for? rib seemed to be ok
The boat had almost capsized and had put out a may day call for assistance. They wanted to take two people off but it was easier to put one of the lifeboat crew onto it and escort it home.
Bad skippering.
What a good job
I can think of no braver people on this planet..
Best of the best!
These RNLI video's are addictive. One of only three charities I support, RNLI, Cat's Protection and Cancer Research. Will always go out of my way for them.. they all do amazing work, and often don't get the credit the deserve.
If I may, don’t support cancer societies etc. They take the peoples donations and .......give it to big pharma who does the research. When a cancer medicine is found big pharma than charges $50,000+ per month to the person with cancer for the medication. NO benefit is seen to a single person with cancer. It’s a complete gimmick. Same is true of Heart and Stroke foundation. I will tell you just how terrible it is. Remember Jerry Lewis and his yearly telethons for MDS? One day a vet spoke with him and explained MD has been cured 30 years before in animals. It could be cured that day in humans to. That the society was making too much money from the telethons that they most likely didn’t want it cured. Lewis went to the society and asked. What he found shocked him. He resigned as the chair over it. It devastated him. Heart and Stroke society KNOWS that it is sugar not cholesterol that causes heart attacks and strokes. But you cannot sell pills for sugar can you. Statin drugs sold to people makes money. However, it also doesn’t allow humans to absorb the fats we need from our diet to do daily healings to our brains. Over time...3-5 years our brains will start to shrink and atrophy causing Alzheimer’s. From the 3 years after the start date of the sale of Statin drugs Alzheimer’s has a 1:1 causal relationship. In other words as the sale of Statin drugs increased the exact increase in Alzheimer’s occurred.
Wow - planing in a gale force 8!
Well done RNLI. They are volunteeras who don't get enough praise for hard work and putting their lives at risk.
What was wrong with the rib
They didn’t seem worried when all the air came out of their rib at 2.30.
That was water clearing from the mic
😉. Did I say that a year ago? Me and my silly jokes.
Man that boat was flying! I didn’t see what kind of power they had on that little rubber dinghy. Probably 4-1200hp motors or something ridiculous like that! It does take some special kind of balls to do that kind of job! Stay safe guys, stay safe!
A bit more than a "rubber dinghy" the Atlantic 85 is powered by two 115hp outboards
Can the larger enclosed life boats carried on some ships survive big storms?
Hi Joe the enclosed lifeboat on ships should be able to handle storm conditions they are designed to be self righting if they capsize and carry stores and first aid equipment to aid survival and recovery. Ian
RNLI you are true hero's. Putting your own life's at risk to save others and volunteering to do it aswell. Truly amazing 👍👍👍👍
I think you need a hydrofoil :)
That would be very useful for getting close in to a beech
@@CDB8939 Yeah but hydrofoils do need a lot of maintenance because if there is even a tiny imperfection on the foil it can change the way it handles
1:12 the moment when you realize why they all wear helmets. :D
Well done RNLI it's so useful people seeing these videos for one it shows the truly amazing work you do and two it should educate other sea users on the dangers they can face. I say that as a keen sailor, windsurfer and someone that loves the sea. Hopefully your videos will remind us that caution is always needed and having to call out the RNLI puts theirs lives at risk each and every time. Nice to know the RNLI is there but no one should take them for granted.
Steve James I
Steve James my point to ian in my rant comment
Great job, it's nice to see the rib at least hast life jackets on, I see ribs all too often coming out of Newtown Creek late at night after a pub crawl with young lads and ladies dressed ready for a summers day afternoon in a pub garden.
Same here in Australia. Lots of "have a go heros" with designer fishing shirts on getting caught up during a bar crossing. Usually on their mates Dads boat during uni holidays and no one wearing a life jacket.
@George Lynch nah, in Melbourne and Sydney most people who are about the scene and not the fishing are spending $200 on shirts they'll get bait gut on.
Yes, Newtown Creek is the best place for a pub crawl. So many hard house nightclubs to visit as well.
Super badass boat and much respect to the crew
I have so much respect for the R.N.L.I. Even as an experienced Dive boat skipper I once found myself 12 miles off shore (near the Eddistone) in a 5.5m RIB with rapidly deteriorating sea state and a broken steering coupler, it was very scary. I cannot begin to describe the feeling of relief as we watched the Plymouth R.N.L.I. rescue boat approach us... Remember no mater how experienced you are, no matter how prepared you think you are ...Sometimes shit just happens. Please support these guy's!
Peter Sobocki most certainly do
Peter Sobocki amen and delighted they were able to get you to safety congratulations rnli on a job WELL done
This is so good to see, the US coast guard doesn't have anything small in their fleet as far as I know, they end up calling out helicopters
warp21drive the RNLI also has the D-Class which smaller still!
The RNLI are not state funded either, staffed by volunteers.
Britain has some very rough seas and shallow waters - RIBs are ideal for this and were invented here!
@@CymruEmergencyResponder they also have a Y - class boat that is carried by both Tamar and Severn ALBs
@@CymruEmergencyResponder some of the ALBs have a Y class boat on them
WELL DONE,REMEMBER FOLKS WITHOUT DONATIONS,THIS SERVICE COULD NOT OPERATE,WITHOUT THE PART TIME VOLENTEERS, YES THEY DO IT FOR FREE! THIS SERVICE COULDNT OPERATE! SO WHEN EVER YOU SEE A DONATION BOX OR BUCKET FOR RNLI . DIG DEEP! YOU OR FAMILY MAY NEED THESE HEROES ONE DAY! THANKS FOR VIDEO FOOTAGE! ATB
WELL DONE THE UNSUNG HEROES OF THE LIFEBOAT SERVICE, ATB
Holy crap, how do you guys all fit your balls onto such a small boat? Hearing a boat full of guys catch air like that is crazy.
looks like a video game when you were at warp speed. ( : Thanks you for the work you do.
The rib had almost capsized near Barton on Sea and put out a mayday call we were called to assist we were asked to take 2 people off but thought it was safer to put a crewman on-board and escort them to a safe port.
looks scary as fook Ian ! bloody well done to you and yer workmates :)
Ian Parker ian i thank you and your rnli crew colleagues for being so courageous and willing to go out on a shout especially to assholes who dare challenge the seas and on a rib no less utterly selfish self centred ego maniacs wreckless endangering of their lives and you and your crews lives thinking we are stronger and brave we will have some chop and bounce fun Sorry i get angry as a woman who grew up boating and believe licensing and certification in navigation and inland waterways and sea nav should be made compulsory along with rigorous checks on vessels and ribs for condition and maintenance of same and for p.p.e and pfd and dry suits but sorry for the rant THANK YOU IAN FOR YOUR SERVICE AND WILLINGNESS TO HELP AND TO SAVE LIVES
Heroes of the seas
I was wondering, looked like they were doing just fine.
The rib owner needs to think about his ability before setting out in that weather
Confusing. i see a lot of whitecaps so I know that the wind was blowing a gale. But why did the other boat need rescuing? It was under power. Somebody must have been hurt.

great job
panic?
The trouble is that there are a lot of folk who believe that just because they have a boat with powerful engine they can charge around the sea as they like. And when the sea bites them, as it will, then they dont have the understanding to manage the situation and get scared.
Kimdino1 partially my point to ian as a woman who has grown up sailing on our family cruiser we had swimming lessons navigation education given to us and my being the eldest charting on our nav book for inland waterways oil checks filling water supply and doing reed freeing from propeller and rudder and capsize and staying calm by floating on our backs which now the rnli are driving home
Brave ride !
