Catastrophic Farms
США
Добавлен 26 янв 2007
The idea for the channel came to me from just having conversations with people I know. I would tell them about what I was doing, often including all the things that would go wrong, and apparently people found it interesting and funny. It was suggested I should tell the world about my lifestyle.
We cover a little bit of everything. Amateur livestock farming, gardening, canning, grounds keeping, building maintenance, and since I am a mechanic by trade, maybe even some automotive or tractor repair. There is always something going on around here, I'll try to include much of it, even the catastrophes.

Thanks. I like to add a touch of humor once in a while.
Roger Patterson is rolling over in his grave right now.
I never heard of him! :)
I saw bigfoot and a goat call you daad
I thought it was pretty funny Thanks for watching Uncle Mark!
😊❤❤❤❤😊sukses selalu abang,,,salam dari indonesia😊
Greetings to you. Thanks for watching.
cute goats ,, dalcone farms had a bore goat last year that had 6 babies , one died the mother raised and feed the surviving 5 , , so your goat should be okayraising 4 babies , dalscone is a farm in Scotland , they are on youtube also , good luck and God Bless
Thank you, I'll have to check out Dalscone. As it it went, a few weeks after this was filmed I did have to pull 2 of them off of momma. Floppy did the best she could but they drank her dry and it got to the point where she was kicking them away. I think she knew she was dry. So the decision was made to pull two away and she was able to support the other two. Thank you for watching!
Can't blame yourself. Life with animals has ups & downs. You did your best & with all the ups & downs you learn more for next time. For a "city boy" you're an amazing Mr. Farmer!❤
I do what I can. Thank you
Mr.Farmer you did not fail it is just life stuff happens stay strong ..I know it sucks but don't give up your a awesome herdsman keep up great work.
I appreciate the positivity, Mark. Hope you are well, and thanks for watching!
James Brasileiro Type his name in youtube and check the 3rd video specifically. You should be able to pick up something. I have some experience in horticulture so what I can say, is you definitely will want a hygrometer so you can know your numbers for humidity and temperature for your garage. Being in a garage, i imagine your humidity is far too low and you need more air circulation. Low humidity and no air flow is definitely going to crisp out the leaves like that. I’d also like to point out that in James Brasileiros video, i can see an advantage to cutting the leaves while theyre still green and hanging them individually vs. how you did it, hang the whole plant. As you check the drying leaves, if they did get too dry too fast, this is where you can pack them up in a damp towel and place them in a pot being heated slightly off a stovetop, and begin your process of rehhydrating your leaf…the downside, like you said, definitely more labor intensive
Thanks for the info. I appreciate the suggestion, I'll check him out. We usually run pretty high humidity in Iowa in August, but this year was exceptionally dry. Indeed it probably did not have enough airflow though.
YOU DIDN'T fail because you did everything you could do.
Hindsight is always easy. There are things I overlooked leading up to this. I'm not immune from normalcy bias. But I do the best with what i know and can see. Thank you for watching.
I have a friend that has sheep and he has a problem with parasites. I'm going to tell him about your channel to try to get some info from you if that's OK
That is certainly ok. I'm no expert, I'm just a part time farmer and an amateur vet though. I do the best I can.
Thanks for the video. Your video reminded me to give my dog his meds for something very similar to what your goat has. Anyways it’s nice to see the good and the bad of operating a farm. You have taught me that I do not want livestock, even if there’s a fire.
It's not all fun and games and cute babies. Some days it sucks. Thanks for watching, Bart.
Sorry TJ, it’s always hard, but you have learned with this experience and will recognize the symptoms for the next time it happens, it will happen, but you will be more prepared. Farming is tough, rarely do your plans truly go the way you want them to, but you learn, adjust and improve. Kathy
It's always a learning experience. I just hate losing 3 months of work and an animal to get that experience. Thanks for watching
Watching you push string up hill through the stalk reminded me of my “special ed” days. You would have fit right in.
Hey thanks Bill. I appreciate the watch!
By the way, even crunchy as it is, it might make very good pipe tobacco??
Yes that could be done also. I noticed that in the last few days it's been much more humid here and the leaves have softened up a bit. So maybe I didn't do anything wrong and late summer was just too dry.
Thanks for the great video! I too would like to try my hand at growing tobacco. How about some more Farmal tractor videos too! Take care.
Thank you, I appreciate it. I had a really good 460 video this past summer but something went wrong trying to transfer the files from my GoPro and I lost half of it. Otherwise it has been running pretty good lately so I haven't filmed much of it. I still have to put tire chains on it for the winter, I put one out last year on doing that.
Amazing Goats... Greetings fr. Philippines ❤❤❤❤🙏
Thank you, we still have one girl here from this kidding, Lemon, She's a beautiful grown up gal now. Thank you for watching!
It is strange that they nest outside when they have indoor nesting area. Bumper year for baby peas!❤
Yeah I don't recall them ever doing that before. There must have been something about the barn they didn't like this year. Too much noise with so many more goats? Too many cats? I don't know.
Those are some nice looking ducklings. Congrats.
Haha! thanks for that Brent.
You need a longer handle, Bo. You're bending over too much!
Where can I find one?
@@CatastrophicFarms Isn't it just a pipe? Screw a longer pipe on it.
@@chuckmallory9213 oh yeah probably!
With christmas around thre corner, will you be doing any christmas specials, with decorations, goats and christmas storys?. Your viewers would like that verry much!
I don't know, that sounds pretty elaborate for a hobby farm. Thanks for watching, mr Hayes!
Please how can I get them
@@sirpioclifford2709 they remaining kids are not for sale. I do have some older kids for sale though. But thank you for watching!
I see that Mr Farmer is a bit of a pyro. Don’t light yourself on fire.
I was kind of fun!
😅7
Please tell me all 3 made it (see a year old). Where are you located? Do you raise to sell?
Hello, yes all three made it fine. I have since sold them. I raise goats mostly to sell though I do sometimes hold some of the girls back for future breeding. I am located in Iowa. Thanks for watching!
The best way to fix it is to cut the top of the gas tank half way off where u can get to the baffle and clean it out good and weld it back up that is how I fixed mine and I have not had eany problems since
Yeah that would be probably the best way. Thanks for the tip. If I continue to have problems I may look into that. Thanks for watching!
I liked it very helfull
I'm glad you did. Thanks for watching!
How beautiful they are!!!!!
They are. thank you for watching!
Unbelievable. Congratulations on the new peacocks. Did you know that you can hear a blue whale's heartbeat from more than 2 miles away. That should give you enough warning if one is getting ready to attack you.
Didn't know that, but I do now. Thanks for atching!
Got 2 myself to get down...Nice looking herd getting quite a few time to sell
Yeah its getting crowded around here. Thanks for watching!
Good luck hope all goes great for you Ole friend
Thanks Mark!
Yes. Show me the AUCTIONS. I would like to see all aspects of life as a goat farmer.
Ok. Thanks for watching!
Yes, ALL the time! Nails too!
Makes one wonder where it all comes from.
You are blessed brother, congrats.. Quadruple stack, all female. Great content too btw.
I am, thanks! and thanks for watching!
Dirty Screw ! 😅
Yes, lots of problems with dead Ash trees. Did you know that 76% of all statistics are wrong?
I didn't know that, Thanks for watching!
Nice video, Bo.
Thanks Chuck!
Love it man thanks for the video
I love it too. Worth every penny I ever spent on it. Thanks for watching!
Bummer 😢
Yeah it kind of is. Thanks for watching, Denny.
So how long is a baby on the bottle?
7-8 weeks is the norm. Sometimes they pick up eating solid food earlier if they are around older goats.
OMG that's alot of bottle babies. Sympathy for the loss of Rose.😢
Its been a tough few weeks. Thanks for watching
sir you are a saint, keep up the great work.
Thanks badgerbob. I do my best.
Thanks? Just what i needed.
Good job Mr.Farmer. Dinebag is cute. Hey, did you know that the unicorn is the official animal of Scotland.
Thanks Brent.
So happy she's doing ok your gonna make a great momma goat for her 😂😅😊
He kind of looks like a momma too. lol
Glad she figured out the bottle!❤
@@ckolacia2743 me too. I was worried there for a while

@@iclmb510 me too. Charlotte was probably the prettiest goat we ever had around here but she struggled with babies. Thanks for watching!
Hope her leg is healed

Good job Mr. Farmer!❤

Very precious. This video is great, please post more like it. Thanks Mr Farmer!
I’m glad to see Daisy back on all 4 wheels again. Did you know that in the second to the last episode of “The Dukes of Hazard” Daisy Duke proposes to Enos? However the wedding never happened. Now you know.
