The narrator left out numerous important details here about this operation in this abridged presentation. Some points missing are: Q1. Could Haig have canceled this battle on his own judgment & volition? A1. No, because the chief of imperial general staff (Haig’s Army Boss) ordered this attack on the Government’s of Lloyd-George’s orders, due to commitments already given to the French Government, who were insisting that this attack proceed no later than the First July 1916! Haig had originally wanted the attack to commence in mid-August 1916, when the Kitchen volunteer battalions would have been better trained & conditioned there! Q.2 Where most of the artillery the correct type of ordnance to have been used against deeply-built concrete bunkers & barbed wire? A2. No, they were the wrong type! About 90% of the artillery ordnance expended by the Royal Artillery & others in the preceding week of the attack, were anti-personnel, exploding shrapnel shells almost useless against either fixed reinforced concrete emplacements or barbed wire obstacles! The required HE (High Explosive) ammunition had been unavailable in sufficient, necessary quantities at that time! Q.3. The narrator seemed only to draw focus that the battle solely took place on the morning of the 01/July/1916 or in the immediately ensuing days?!! A.3 It (The Somme Offensive) didn’t immediately end only then, but actually lasted about 5 months & it concluded in mid-November 1916, an important point not made or raised by the narrator here! The Germans actually fired their Chief of General Staff von Falkenhayen during the joint Verdun & Somme battles, replacing him with von Hindenburg & Luedendorff who later stated that the German Army could not sustain or withstand another Somme or Verdun Battle! This resulted later in 1917, to the German Army having to withdraw, back to the then, newly built & prepared, “Hindenburg Defensive Line,” some 40 miles behind their original line to consolidate their forces there & try to conserve their ever depleting & irreplaceable military resources & manpower!

He is coming back as a roaring, waring lion, to destroy sin, death, and the grave once and for all. Amen! Halleluyah! This seems to be about Anglo Saxon rule after England had united under King Æthelstan in 927 AD. Between then and the end of the Roman rule in 410 AD Britain was chopped up into lots of different areas with many different rulers. The borders moved around as the small kingdoms captured and lost territory and miscellaneous Jutes, Saxons and Angles arrived with their own leaders to try and crab a bit of land or help some tribal leader grab some land until they could turn on him.
