I'm using this to make a padded head board that hands on the wall. 😊
Thank you!
Your welcome!
Its 8mm stihl is european. Also stihl uses t27 a lot.
Definitely a great score 🎉
Yes indeed!
I had a 1981 Jag 440 fan cooled. Great little sled
These are fun little sleds. Much simpler to work in than new ones.
@@VincesDIYs I love the old sleds more than a new one. They are more fun
I have a 17in bench, is it ok to go with 3in cushion or is it too much?
I would measure/compare it to a chair that works for you.
I have a broken hinge but everytime i open an app THE LAPTOP DOSEN’T RESPOND
Good work man! Love seeing yhe kids getting involved. With how much you wouldve spent in bearings and welding and all that time on the rail would've been cheaper getting a good used skid, but each to their own. Regardless good work, good content!
Thanks! If I add the hours and what the sled is worth, I probably paid myself $1 and hour 😁
Looks like you moved from the country to a subdivision BOO LOL
Haha, Working on moving back to the country.
Were are you located
Ontario
Also if it has white smoke still it needs ahead gasket the coolant leaks into pistons and makes it burn coolant blue smoke means good oil 😢
It’s fine now. Just a lot of left over coolant in the exhaust.
U mean u cut the clutch off not the primary primary is the big one
Primary is the small one attached to the motor. It would not release / come off the motor with a puller etc. so I cut it off and installed a better working used clutch.
Lol might need a head gasket or coolant burnt out
It cleared up after a good run. Thankfully no gaskets needed.
Very well done! Another classic Polaris back on the snow. Great to see the kids involved in learning how to bring a machine back to life.
Thank-you!
Great work. If maintained it will run run as good for a long time. Awesome video. Thank you. Inspiring.
Thanks! It’s running great now and our kids love it.
Great deal😊
Now that it’s working well… :)
Definitely burning coolant.
Yup, it had a lot in the crankcase and pipe so it took a bit to burn off.
Putting that much heat on that clutch you probably melted the in sheath bushing, and probably the crank seal !
Cranks seal was fine. I ended up replacing the clutch as some of the ramps, rollers, et. were worn. Basically the clutch was neglected like the rest of the sled…
You might want to do a coolant leak down test , that looks like you need head gaskets
Its running fine for the past year. Just alot of coolant in the pipe and crankcase.
Who repaired your water pump if you don't mind me asking ?
I tried to find the person but it’s been three years. If I come across the info I will post it.
400 dollar sled? an aggressive ultra?? what??? heck of a find man. very familiar with that era and machines. wrench on my man. from one Vince to another 😂 happy holidays from Northwest Alaska. subbed!👊
Thanks Vince! :)
Quite the video in the making (over a few years).
Yup, it took a lot longer than I imagined at the start.
I would have never bought that nightmare that welded trailering arm will crack whenever you weld suspension parts they always break
Ya, we did not know what we were getting into. The original weld, was very thin so I’m quite sure it will be fine. It’s doing fine a few winters later.
It's very cool that you can fix all that stuff by yourself. I bought a 2000 Polaris Indy 500. It needed a lot of work. It's been in the shop twice to get repairs. And the last guy that worked on it, He knows his snowmobile's. He told me that I have the wrong skis on it. He said those are Yamaha skis. Are they interchangeable? Just curious it runs fine. The way they are, but I really would like original equipment on it.
Skis can be interchangale depending on the mounts. I would just run it as is and see who ti steers and feels. You could later look for used skis on facebook marketplace or get aftermaket C&A or Skydog skis
cool video
Thanks!
Sorry about posting the twice. 1st version had a copywrite issue with some background music. Let me know what you like / don't like about this video and how I can improve my content.
Those water pumps take oil , don't you hear that winning noise kinda sounds like a turbo that's the water pump making that noise.
@@larrywarner9314 yup. They make the noise when they are dying. The rebuilt one made that noise for a little while but then quieted down after a few hours of running.
@@VincesDIYsI have a Polaris Indy that won’t stay running I’m gonna be working. On it tomorrow morning and I also have a ski doo mxz 400 it won’t stay running
Great video. Thanks
Your welcome!
So having gas in the tank really makes it start much better.....
Definitely helps… :)
Hi from Don, see all your added hp improvements to MS 180C Good job, 👍 The saw will handle 12-14-16-18" bars Now try this what I did Add 20" bar too it: I did it and it handle 20" bar and chain , the only difference is cutting speed is slower but if you want cut that log that's 19" round the saw get it done I did it it and all is fine : Note: there is couple mods to this: Make sure oil holes work or you might have drill bar for this oiling flow, make sure it bolts up perfectly , and you may have to change clutch drum too or stay with .043 3/8p Note: drive links will increase due to the length Amazon does sell 20" bars and chains just order correct one
Good info. Thanks Don!
Hello, I am trying to get a builtin bench made with 3in cushion. What should be the height of the bench in this case?
I would just measure a chair that is comfortable for you and take off three inches.
I own a FJ-80 and FJ-100. The FJ-100 has the worst engine design and most complicated to work of the two engine.
Ya, it’s spun doing the starter. On the other hand, it is very reliable.
isnt this high risk for kickback?
Yup. Need to pay attention where the tip of your saw is.
Can the last upgrade you can do, maybe get a 7 tooth sprocket from a 8 tooth sprocket. Big saws can be changed I use! Keep your thumb around that front handle bar. Work safe & take care our friend!!
@ 1:34 Epoxy made screen stuck with glue and made screen permanently unrepairable incase screen goes faulty in the future. Sometimes lcd fuse burn out and replacing the fuse can fix the a faulty screen, but now this screen is not possible to open without breaking the hing or screen itself. you should be carefulllll next time. clean fix makes your customers happy forever.
Should still be able to get the screen out. But it was useless as it was so it was an improvement.
Geez, do you have the supercharger on that thing??
Nope
Very helpful, thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful!
Open frthe otherside of the muffler plateon front of the spark arrester, iremove my arrester for a bit ,wow,...
I’ve got the slightly larger 3700. Stihls are just nazi saws dressed up in virginia clothes.
Get a skip tooth chain for your longer bar too your rpm’s will say up when using your longer bar too
100%!
I can only say two things. If you are setting your depth gauges like they say. Try taking two more passes off of them. Your chain will bite way more. Then just let you bar rest on the log rather then try to push through it. But otherwise love the video and your attention to details and cleaning your saw. Oh yeah I liked and you know the rest
Thanks!
Very good job and good helpful video. I know it's time consuming but it saves you a lot of money from doing it at the dealer's. I've the same engine (slight difference tho as mine's a R 350 CDI here in France. But yes, very helpful, clear and straight to the point! Keep up mate!
Thank you. Glad you liked it!
@@VincesDIYs I'm about to do mine now and have a question please. Did you warm up the engine before undoing the injectors. My car's been sitting for a while and it's pretty cold out there. Was thinking of perhaps using a heat gun to blow some hot air in order to soften the soot and get that screw loosened? What do you think?
I did not warm it up but it would have been a good idea. A heat gun would help as well.
Those nails hahaah pointless
I've never seen the rope trick. Pretty cool! Great way to prevent limbs dropping on your roof (or whatever is below).
Yup, I learned it from Buckin Billy Ray.
Thanks. I learned it from watching Bucking Billy Ray
If with the exhaust modification, it averaged 9.1 seconds and with the carburetor change it was 9, how did the 26% plus speed come out?
26% improvement is from stock. The carb change improvement by itself was minimal but it does give you the option to add or remove fuel.
Let me know if this video was useful and what I could do next time to make it better?
Let me know if you enjoyed this video and what I could to to make them better!
Let me know if this was useful and if I should do more GL 350 videos
Was just admiring your vice and thinking I need to upgrade, when you mentioned exactly that. Blimmen psychic or something.
Haha!
I just performed this repair, thanks for the video! Question. Both of my fan covers (upper and lower) inside the oven have a "U" stamped on them. What is the correct orientation of the covers? The top fan has vent slots on the top edge of the cover, does the lower cover use the same orientation? Your video doesn't show the removal of the lower cover, so I'm not sure which way to mount my cover ("U" facing up or down). UPDATE: From looking at drip marks/stains on the cover, it appears that the vent slots should be facing downward on the lower fan cover. So the top cover has the "U" on the right side, and the lower cover is inverted with "∩" on the left side.
We have since moved you I would not have been able to look at it. Glad you got it figured out. 👍
Good day! I have the same fireplace, and the damper seemed too fall apart and does nothing whten you pull it. ideas? i cleaned my plugged Catalyst thanks to this video!!
Sorry, we have since moved so I can’t look at the linkage.
