thanks for the review of spindrift
I used to have the mdrp brake discs but after one season I switched to the storm hc discs again, just because of the play you mentioned. It just doesn’t feel great on the trail and on slow tech stuff the feeling is even worse and the storm gf discs are a lot cheaper 😂
How tall are you? I went with 160 mm cranks (Unite) on my Spindrift AL M. I am about 172 cm and it´s been great decision
Cane Creek Hellbender from day 1. Also BikeYoke Revive. Zero problems
I dont know if i should buy or not
how is for climbing
Great Review! 👍😁. I’ve seen some videos/comments where people said the seat post or seat post “holder” was too high, even when the saddle is all the way down. Did you ever notice it being like that?
Is it ok to have 10mm more travel on the Stoic 3?
Ah, you are in Flums and ride the Seeabfahrt. And Dark Side Of the Moon! :) Nice!
@north-eastshredder1787 I would like to ask you maybe you told that in video but I did not catch it. What is the travel of your new yari fork. Thanks!
Thanks for the insight I just picked up a spindrift al 27.5. You mind sharing what cane creek headset you have ? Thanks
Thanks for waching the video. I have Cane Creek Forty headset. I can’t give you exact part number, since the one I have is for a different bike.
Thanks for the insight I just picked up a spindrift al 27.5. You mind sharing what cane creek headset you have ? Thanks
Hi, great video. I have bought this same headset. Did the crown race that came with the bearing fit your fork steerer? Mine seems too small.
It’s a very tight fit. You have to hammer it down with special tool or plastic pipe.
@@north-eastshredder1787 Ah okay. Thank you.
Sooooo ... The frame of the spindrift wasnt broken? Somehow it seemed that it was but in the and you didnt like the usability of the coil spring. You should ve used lese dramatic music for that.
Why do you hate "the" so much?
That’s why I would never buy carbon frames unless I’m sponsored
I have multiple >10 year old Ibis frames with a gazzilion hard miles on them.
there’s no way you are bottoming out that 180mm with only 20% sag riding like you do!
I have a spindrift. I bottom out the shock on mellow trails even with 20-25% sag. You really need spacers with Propains Pro10 system.
I also went from a nukeproof mega to propain spindrift 💥💥🤘😎
Great honest review
Canyon R&D seems bad tbh, look at how many torque and spectrals break :/ i wish canyon was good enough
"20% sag on shock and 30% on fork" that sounds like it should be the other way around.
30% sag on long travel fork is always my preference. I would run 30% on the shock as well, but lighter coil don’t provide enough support on bigger hits. Stiffer coil - less sag.
@@north-eastshredder1787 I am 95kg suit up. running Sprindex 480Lbs, preload 2 rotations, LSC - +2 HSC 0, HBO 0. SAG 27%, Fron 38 with 22% SAG. So far happy with setup. With LSC full closed I have tons of midstroke support
what weight are you?
77kg with full gear, water not included.
What’s the headset you got bc I dont know what I need for my spindrift
You need ZS49 top part and ZS56 bottom part. Acros webpage has excellent info about headset replacements. My headset: HOPE Headset Top S.H.I.S. ZS49/28,6 HOPE Head Set Bottom S.H.I.S. ZS56/40 Keep in mind, that you may need stem stack spacers as well. Since different headset may result in stack height difference.
Does this bike make a lot of noise? I'm thinking of an aluminum one, can you recommend one?
With coil shock it’s pretty noisy. Air shock is a lot quieter.
Hey good video. I have the AL version of the bike but have completely different components. I have been super happy with it as a bike part shredder and occasional travel enduro bike. I even put a used Boxxer Ultimate on it and it has become even more of a park weapon. It's such a versatile bike but I would recommend that people buy just the frame and then build it up with the componentry that they want.
I have the AL version, full 29 and I bought the frame-set. I build it up with parts from my old bike. I have no issues so far. Would be interesting to put a Boxxer on it🤔
@@ThiccBoi69420 do it! Such a ripper and super capable!
Is there a disadvantage of a bicycle? Does it make a lot of bad noises?
@@hajun._08I don't understand your question? What sort of disadvantages are you referring too and also what do to you mean by bad noises?
@@hajun._08 The only disadvantage is that it is heavy. Around 18 kgs
The #1 thing wrong with it is its name!
Ben bu bisikleti almayı düşünüyorumda, acaba amortisör, hız ve sağlamlık açısından performansına 10 üzerinden kaç verirsiniz? Veya propain marka hangi bisikleti almamı tavsiye edersiniz?
So should i wait for new one ?
Doesn’t look like new Spindrift releasing this year. Just before new releases, you can get old bikes for banger deals. So depends on your preference and budget. If headset routed cables doesn’t scare you and you are willing to pay full price, might as well wait for new Spindrift. However this gen Spindrift is a very solid option, but I would recommend to wait for a good deal. Currently CF 27.5 is on sale. You can also check Outlet section on there website for cheaper prebuild bikes. If you want peace of mind get AL frame.
@@north-eastshredder1787 hey great review! been looking into this bike, and i noticed that they are all out of stock on their website. Does this mean that they are coming out with a new release here shortly?
@@north-eastshredder1787woops
nice video
With your comments on shocks I just want to say if you want a more progressive feel then try a progressive spring, standard springs on coils are designed to be linear, and if you want more progression go back to an air shock. Good review though.
Thanks. Coil shock is just too good on chunky trails to go back to an air shock. How progressive suspension feels comes down to linkage design as well, not only the shock. If bike is designed around coil shock, linkage compensates for linear feel of a coil. A lot of people running coils on these bikes, so I assumed that Spindrift works really well with coil shocks… But you’re right, progressive spring is something to consider.
Where are you from?
Hello, Guys. Thanks for watching this video! Part 2 is out: ruclips.net/video/OiF3m7tfeqM/видео.html 🚀
Acros Headset is truly a piece of shit. My compression ring failed as well, but luckily for me good people at bike park shop gave me a replacement
I have Stoic 3 almost three years now and I confirm almost all information. But I bought it with expactation, that I will replace almost everything as the stock components wear out. Over all I like the color, the frame and love the geometry. The biggest disadvantage is missing ISCG mount... I had to buy BSA adapter after I damaged the third chainring
Hi, shocks using trunnion ?
whats the part number of the headset and the bearing for the botton part?
Just added info to description of this video.
Hello do you think Gt avalanche expert is better?
2023 model of Stoic 3 is definitely better. Better fork and brakes, longer travel.
Most of photos are broken tyee frame ;) not spindrift
That comforts me as well.
Cool video, shorten your allens with a grinder
Haha. Already did. Even after shortening I can adjust only half click at a time.
@north-eastshredder1787 well that's a bummer!
Hi could you recommend some cranks for my canyon stoic i also hate the gap but i have no idea what cranks should i buy or how to know wich cranks will fit there i just want to get rid of the gap.
You need bottom bracket as well. So for the best compatibility you can get same cranks and BB as I did: SRAM DUB BB and Truvativ Descendant crankset.
@@north-eastshredder1787 thank you
Could you post me spec of your handlebars? I have stoic and i would like to raise my stack with 50mm raiser handlebars
Spank Spoon 60. 61mm rise, 31.8mm diameter.
Should i get a stoic 3 then budget is 1k?
Depends on what you want to ride. If XC, then no. If sweet downhill, then yes. Stoic has pretty long effective reach, so it can be not very comfortable to pedal.
5:43 I'm done with Maxxis tyres as all were wobbly, some had badly misaligned thread,so thread pointed to the right, and one most left and right did not match.
7:28 That's Stan's no tubes tape.
3:56 Chris King also presses the bearings into the cup. but their headsets last a long time, they got 10 years warranty and stay smooth. 5:20 That's absurd.
Great stuff. Keep it up. Audio tip: If you don't already, use a pop filter. Place mic on the side or above the mount. this will reduce breathing and pops.
Thanks for the tip!
None of this was a surprise to me, as I've seen a german dude from Lane 6 Riders had issue with two Propain Rage frames, headset got loose in the frame after few runs and jumps. He gave up on the brand. he got a refund. He did videos on the bike. It's in german, but you get the point, loose headset, warranty frame unrideable in few runs and jumps.
When chainging the headset, don’t forget to buy a set of stem spacers (besides all the special tools this job requires 😅). Stack height with different headset may differ. If the video was usefull, please give it a 👍, it would realy help the channel grow.
Great video! Could you tell which exact headset from Cane Creek you bought for your Stoic?
Cane Creek 40.IS52 Bottom Headset Lower Part 1.5 Inches - IS52/4 and Cane Creek 40.ZS44 Short Cover Top Headset Upper Part 1 1/8 Inches - ZS44/28.6
Stoic 3 owner myself, so far i only replaced the saddle, grips en cut the handle bar a little, bled the brakes and it has dmr vault pedals. Only this in 2 years time and still loving it
