The REAL problem with American food is that there’s so many additives, coloring, pesticides, and processing done with everything, including “fresh” and “healthy” food, that everything is bad for you. Our food is literally designed by people in labs to be addictive with the chemicals that are added, and the law lets manufacturers and food processors get away with it. There are laws in Europe that ban the stuff that is in practically everything in the US. But there’s not much we can do about it either, because even when we make healthier choices, it’s still covered in stuff you don’t want to be eating - hidden chemicals, pesticides, etc. Stuff that is truly “clean” and “natural” is difficult to access, and when you do, it costs 5x as much. It’s frustrating to me that people blame American citizens, or make fun of them, for their health crisis. It’s like sneaking cocaine into someone’s coffee and then blaming them for becoming an addict.

The window chalk is such a good decorating hack. I drew an entire Christmas village on my front window this year. It’s my favorite decoration.

Berlin is one of my favourite cities, the DDR Museum was good, the glass dome at the Reichstag, I have vertigo and crawled down from a quarter up even the security guard took pity on me and escorted me to a chair. Apparently great views from the top 😂. We also did the lone remaining lookout tower of the Wall. Metro is incredibly clean and reliable (Ottawa here I live take note). Love the Nivea shop too.

Flemish is Dutch. But we also have german speaking part in Belgium 🙂 Also sugar is addictive in itself. You made a mistake with calling the fries "french fries". And you should not have gotten aioli. That's not a good choice. You kinda have to go for Mayo, curry ketchup, tartar sauce any of those. Andalouse was solid choice too 🙂 Brussels waffles are a lot better than Luikse waffles btw. Liege waffles are sugar waffles with pieces of sugar in it. You picked a weird flavour chip from a French supermarket store btw 🙂

The purple cuberdons are the only ones we eat normally. The other tastes are really recent. The Jules Destrooper Waffles, are known as the new year waffles (lukken). That’s when we eat those typically. The (warm) Brussels waffles we mostly eat at home or at a restaurant but not with the touristy stuff on it: with some sugar, a dot of whipped cream and sometimes with a little bit of vanilla ice cream. Liège waffles (Luikse wafels) are eaten - freshly baked and warm - on the street. They need nothing with it (only tourists add chocolate and other stuff to it) Babelutten are from Veurne and I went to the store there 30 years ago (they were 15 cm long sticks). Leonidas are good price/quality chocolates. But truffles are not what is typically bought and more heavy on the stomach. Pralines like ‘Manon’ etc are different and more sophisticated. Fries are typically eaten with mayonnaise. The typical chips tastes are salt and paprika (croky and lays are most bought).
