1955 Ford 850 pt. 5. Broken piston rings.
Tearing down the engine and finding more than what we expected, broken rings on 3 of the 4 pistons where I thought it would only be one piston. The one without broken rings was a new piston with a new push rod. I guess we better get a parts list together.

2004 RAM 2500 Cruise control fix, Clockspring
Просмотров 2,9 тыс.Год назад
Replacing the clockspring in my 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. The cruise control was turning off randomly and sometimes I could turn it back on and sometimes not. The windshield wipers were acting weird as well. Changed the clockspring and all is good now. Disconnect battery cables before doing any work on a vehicle that involves electrical components, especially Air Bags!!! clockspring from: RockAuto p...

In this video I am removing the front end and external engine parts so I can pull the engine away from the tractor and get it on an engine stand. I have already discovered that one of the pistons has broken rings. I am going to rebuild this engine and then dig into the drive train as there are some issues there that need to be addressed. Since I am this far into this project, I am going to do a...
Broken rings1955 Ford Model 850 pt. 2

I get the head off of the 172ci ford tractor engine and find what I believe to be broken piston rings and other issues. I will continue taking it apart to see what all needs to be done to make this a working tractor again. I think at this point I am deciding weather I will do just a simple rebuild or go all the way with a full restore. The cost to restore this model tractor may cost more than t...
Repairing a Ford Model 850 Tractor.....pt 1

In this video I intend on installing the front axle bushing and then troubleshoot a coolant leak. I start with the process of removing the head to check for bad head gasket. As I get more into this project it becomes more apparent that there is more wrong than I thought.
How to replace the headlight switch. 1990 Chevrolet C1500.
Просмотров 3,8 тыс.Год назад
In this video I am replacing the headlight switch on a 1990 Chevrolet C1500 Silverado because the lights will randomly turn off. This seems to happen more often when using the high beams. I believe the switch has gone bad due to the fact that it is 33 years old.

Not sure if you monitor this video, but if you do - I sure could use some of your expertise. I live just north of Tom Bean Texas and I have a 1955 850 that is leaking water at the top center of where the engine and transmission meet. It looks like it is coming up from between the engine and the rear cover plate which would be (I think) a huge job to break this thing in half to replace the gasket. Any thoughts recommendations on how I can stop this water link without having to break her in half? THanks! Scott V.

Hi Scott, Thanks for the kind words. I don't know of a gasket in that area other than the head gasket. Mine was leaking in the same place and it was the freeze plug in the back of the engine right above the transmission. In Pt. 4 around the 8:06 point you can see the freeze plug that is leaking on the back on the engine just below the head.

Sounds like a head gasket to me. If you’re fairly mechanically inclined, I would replace the head gasket. If not, I would try some blue devil head gasket sealer. That stuff works wonders.

Thanks for the replies, it did turn out to be the lower freeze plug that’s partially behind the bell housing. Was able to replace it without having to break the tractor in half with some help from a guy on the Yesterdays tractors web site. The plug had corroded through from the outside. Thanks again!

Great video ! Ive got a 1999 dodge ram 2500 diesel. Im thinking it’s probably close to the same procedure. My cruise control just clicks its self off sometimes & will only work when I’m driving south on the freeway. Has something to do with steering wheel position I’m betting.

Mine would just cut off while driving. Sometimes I could turn it right back on and sometimes it wouldn't.

It would cut off at any speed Billy it did seem to happen more when it was accelerating. I did see it happen a lot when climbing hills.

Sorry for the late reply, I was on vacation. I saw on Ryan Hall that yall were getting some winter weather. The only thing I can think of on the flywheel would be a bad starter bendix at one point or another. Yea may be switching the hyd pump for one of the newer ones. Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe at one point there could have been a lack of oil getting to the pistons.
