@@alecnichols7845 i know. I am catholic, and i am Very displeased by this monstruosity. But i have to admit; to the general people of Japan, It was less harmful than the 250 previous years of infighting, different taxes for each province, rebellion, starvation, rape, general murder, etc.

@@Joao-jx1lo I am protestant (I just call myself a follower of Christ) and have been all over Japan and have seen several of the historical sites including where jesuit priests were martyred. It was life changing, plus I had seen the movie Silence before I left. I do agree there was more peace compared to the constant warfare of the sengoku era. It's a shame that Tokugawa Hidetada took it a step further than Ieyasu and outright banned christianity...their people suffered from the oppressive culture of ancestor worship and the lack of accountability with leadership. These "heroes" butchered people, and also had more than one wife and several concubines. Kato Kiyomasa is one of the best examples of the horrors that were committed towards those who didn't live in accordance to shinto law. I also don't agree with how the catholic church handled things either including this day in age. No denomination is perfect so I just look at myself as a sinner saved by God's grace and don't put my hope in people or a denomination and try to live in the truth that is God's Word (He is the Word) because people always have and will continue to fail us even if they are saved.

Warrior? No. Leader? He was definitely among the best that's for sure. I'd put him on equal footing with individuals such as Mori Motonari and Takeda Shingen that's for sure.

i think when nobunaga was the ruler of japan, the emperor would have ceased to exist like the ashikaga shogun because he saw old ways as corrupted and out of date... there were proof to support this, that nobunaga didnt respect in emperor, shogun and high temples status, he even destroyed sacred heiei temples, attacked honganji, deposed ashikaga shogun, and also asked the emperor to give him a piece of sacred perfumed bark of tree that was in imperial possession, and also he was declared heretics and as demon incarnation by others daimyo. On the other hand, he was embracing new ways and this was viewed as wrong and strange by many daimyo, for example he started to use rifles as new main weapon in open battles (nagashino), open minded to foreigners, built several churches in kyoto and azuchi, wore western attire, even azuchi castle was built with western influences too at the main keep... but hey it was just a theory tho

Nobunaga can't become a shogun, he don't have a lineage of Minamoto (Genji) clan, which is the requirement for a samurai to be a Shogun. Oda clan is a descendant from Taira (Heike) clan, so no, the Oda clan would never be a shogun. Nobunaga instead will create new title and government style for himself if he never perish at honnoji.

@@radhiteaji631 @Radhite Aji no? there no need to be Minamoto descedent to become shogun, the only real requirements were be a noble (high born) and have court-military power to require the title from the emeperor, just like Ieyasu did, he only become shogun after some years after sekigahara and only due his connections with court and his military power. Hideyoshi for example he couldnt become shogun because he was low born, however not only he take a higher rank (regent/kanpaku) but is very suggested he could take the shogun title if he was adopted by Ashikaga Yoshiaki. So Nobunaga could YES become shogun or even greater than this, a regent/kanpaku, or in others versions, he act like the Hojo Clan in Minamoto Shogunate, were he controls from the shadows.

@@mikeviscusi5681 Um, no they bloody don't. They are stylized like crazy in Nobunaga's Ambition. Just in a more realistic manner than in Samurai Warriors. We only have two surviving pieces of artwork of Nobunaga. One of him drunk off his ass that is rather hard to actually find online, and a woodblock painting of him sitting alone. The only thing they used from these is they gave him a pointy moustache. And yes, Nobunaga never used Western style steel plate. He did own a few sets, because he was a little bit of a westaboo, but he used them purely for decoration. His helmet design in most the games is based off a little ornament that represented his personal forces, which was basically a stick with a kettle helm on top. The red cape comes from a Kurosawa film.

Toetomi became paranoic and ill, died just in days before the Korean war was other. Tokugawa: New peacfull era of Japan, prosperous of people and economic rising. Ieasu died peacfully in his bed.

@@Cekachev I like the theory that Hideyoshi deliberately sent those samurais to their deaths in Korea because there were too many people and too few lands to give away. It's a win-win situation, really. If the invasion does turn out to be successful, then great, he now has land for everybody. If the invasion fails, then the samurai-land ratio will be more balanced, and everybody (who survived / didn't go to Korea) is happy. But I don't think he was really thinking of taking on CHINA. Korea is a more realistic goal compared to that power house; unless, of course, he actually went insane.

Dude, Ieyasu is awesome. My top 5 favourite Daimyo: 1. Takeda Shingen. 2. Oda Nobunaga. 3. Mori Motonari. 4. Ieyasu Tokugawa. 5. Toyotomi Hideyoshi.

Nobunaga himself treated Akechi Mitsuhide often like a punching bag (getting kicked by Nobunaga, pushed his head against a balustrade) there are multiple occassions, could be even more we'll never know of. Nobunaga's own brutality and decisions let Mitsuhide look like a fool (for example: Hatano submitted to Akechi with safe treatment, Nobunaga just killed the daimyo of Hatano, the Hatano accused Mitsuhide of treachery). It is also said that the imperial court was pressured by Nobunaga to relinquish power and break rituals and formality. Nobunaga might have demanded the position of Kampaku or Shogun. It's possible the court conspired with Akechi, or he by himself rebelled to save the court (Not proven though).

@@Noxlord007 Old comment, but from a Europeaner who'd actually met Akechi, the common guess he made over his reasons was that while the man played the loyal servant, he was an incredibly ambitious guy. He believed that he probably conspired with Hideyoshi to take over the Oda clan, which explained Hideyoshi's rapid response. If you know its gonna happen prior, its easy to move crazy fast.
