Incredible story!!!!

Desmond Doss actually had tuberculosis at the time of hacksaw ridge so he had to stiffle his coughing so as not to give away his location while finding and saving injured soldiers, he was diagnosed while in the V.A hospital recovering from his wounds and lost a lung to it. It makes what he did even more incredible. However this is just the tip of the iceberg of this amazing human being. His story is still taught to recruits to this day to show what one man is capable of doing if he truly believes he can and Desmond did. Amazing movie of incredible man.

Love Andrew Garfield! His portrayal of Desmond Doss was fabulous…

yeah unfortunately the impact fuse is unrealistic because we didn't use impact fuses on naval operations we always use something like a 0.5 or slightly greater so it could penetrate and not blow up on the outer armor or deck

Do you know how hard that would be to pull off? In real life the wings would have literally broken apart because of the weak airframe from the time but other than that jesus christ you would have felt the explosion on your ass

Vaughn was good in this he should do more war movies. He's a great comedic actor but he could really kill it in more war movies if he chose to do so.

Great movie based on one of the most heroic American heroes of WW2. Army Medic Corporal Desmond Doss who went into every battle his unit fought in completely unarmed because he wanted to save lives not take them.

How many rounds does he fire?

I met him and his wife years before the movie or book had come out. Well the book may have but I hadn’t heard of it. They a very nice old couple. It was at a seventh day Adventist hospital I worked security at after being medically retired from my sheriff’s office. Some of the older volunteers and staffers were all giddy. They told me a little about him after they’d left. I was awestruck after learning about his heroism, and it wasn’t anything compared to what the truth of his heroism really was! Neither is the movie!!

Best movie I've ever seen. Based on true life soldier. He was a great human being saving 70 some soldiers. While never using a gun. A true hero
