Nobody loves to get close to a train more than I do but isn't everybody taking pics just a little trespassing? I'm glad those guys got away with it but I've been warned and cited and kicked off the property more times than I'm willing to admit to here. And I know what's safe and what isn't

I can almost smell the coal fire when it's coming out of that tunnel. And the sound of that whistle echoing in the mountains, oh my goodness! And the sight of all that mechanical wonderfulness in action.

I yelled at a guy to get behind a railroad crossing gate in Medicine Bow, Wyoming when Big Boy was coming through. The guy got mad at me... but it's people that do those sorts of things and end up ruining these special events for the rest of us. Follow the rules and everyone will have a good time.

Almost had a repeat of 2018. You can usually tell the difference between a railfan and a passerby very easily. All you gotta do is see how they act. Are they in my shot? Yes. Are they trespassing? Yes. Are they causing a potential threat to themselves or others? Yes.

You can't fix STUPID. You can hear people telling that idiot to get off the track.

Ed has amazing patience to be able to put up with this sort of thing as regularly as he has to.

Standing on a city sidewalk with cars and trucks feet away, not on rails, is far more dangerous in my opinion.

Let me educate you anal retentives. First, if there's anything flying off the side of the train and you're standing on the outside of the curve, you're a sitting duck. Secondly it's far better to get the big picture on the inside of the curve. Lastly, kids who are in the area follow the rule of "monkey see, monkey do!!". Act like responsible adults!!!

I've never understood why people stand so close. I think it's fair to assume that most people aren't absolute fanatics like us, so they pretty much have no idea of what they're looking at aside from just "train." All you can see when you're standing that close is the running gear. You have to be back at least 20 ft to get the whole locomotive in the frame. Standing back = Better pictures
