One of the fobs for my 2004 S60 stoppped working (but the key still opens and starts the car) - nevertheless, I thought it would be nice to get a replacement fob. However, it looks like it's a lot of effort and special programming is required. Has anyone been able to find a replacement fob and successfully program it? Would love to hear if it's worth the effort.

This is an old video well a year I think, I got a 2008 Volvo XC90 V8 Sport my key won’t stay in and it’s miserable just hanging instead of staying straight in the ignition, I am so glad I found this video now when I get the replacement deal I can replace both keys cause they both do this and it’s miserable. Thanks so much. Will you be around to answer my questions if I need them once I get the replacement?

I have the same problem, did exactly this and indeed there was detachment at the sensor, fixed it and reassembled everything...the worse happened, now the key is operating at all, can't even lock and unlock. Everything seems to be in place though.

It should probably have worked better if you braked off the blade so you got a new sharp edge on the knife. You are putting the wrong cell in it. It should be a 2025 and not 2032 ...

It is overall a good video. Explanations would have been helpful, especially two things a) the winding of the inner spring that makes the key itself flip open for use, and b) use an Electrostatically protected workstation to protect the inner tiny circuit board (plus ground yourself while working with the circuit board).

Thank you so much for posting. Volvo is 100 percent crazy if they think I'm paying them $900 for a replacement key because their old key was garbage and the spring stopped working.

And where can I get this microswitch?

I can't get the solder to stick to the PCB. It only sticks to the iron. What am I doing wrong?
