Born in Kingston in 1956. New York State's tax structure ruined it like most of the non-NYC state, sucking out tax dollars to fuel NYC's welfare/food stamps bums. Gangs/drug dealers for years were not properly heavy-handed-dealt with. So, the turn around is on; good! Direct tax dollars to police-law-and-order and the economy will take care of itself.
I'm in Houston, Texas. Down here the best pizza comes from one of the fast food chains. Needless to say, we don't have good pizza down here. I once lived in Rovigo, Italy and by far their claim to fame was Red Wine. I'm not talking about those made in mass, I'm talking about 5 to 10-gallon batches at a time made in people's garages. They sold their wine on the side to earn a few extra Euros. One night I went to a local Pizzeria. Interestingly enough, when you walk into the front door, they usually give you a free sample of their grapa. It's an acquired taste, to say the least, but part of the heritage nonetheless. Now what you have to understand is that pizza in Italy is not served as a giant pie that you take a slice from. You get the whole pie but it's about the size of a large plate. And, it usually comes with a fried egg right on the top. There main condiment is homegrown olive oil that is to die for good. But that is not the surprise of the night. It's without a doubt the wine. I had no idea what type I had ordered at first as I told my waiter to surprise me and boy did he. He brought out my wine in a craft and proceeded to pour it into a tall round stemmed glass. The first time I had a sip, my whole demeanor changed. I didn't know what was happening at first. I sort of looked around like I had done something illegal. Then the taste moved from my tongue to my skin. It gave me goose pimples and I had to put the glass down. I just sat there completely dumbfounded for a few seconds. I literally asked myself if that was the wine? I picked it up and had another sip. Yes, it was that cabernet savioune and for the first time in my life, I had tasted what wine was supposed to taste like. As I took my second sip, it dawned on me that I had purchased a whole bottle and I was only on my second sip. I thought, they screwed up and served me one of those top-shelf bottles that cost $500 and up in the States. However, it was their house wine and the entire bottle only cost me 5 Euro. The pizza showed up finally. Remember, eating in Italy is an experience and nothing comes to you quickly. Munching out on homemade breadsticks is a top priority. In Italy, they serve food individually. So if you ordered something called "Stinkole" which is actually a version of lamb that is fantastic with an odd name, it comes out on its own plate. Vegetables are served on individual plates one at a time. Nothing shows up on a single plate with the meat, vegetables, and bread all at once. Pizza just shows up and don't be surprised if it takes half an hour to see it on your table. When I got the pizza the waiter had to tell me that everything on it came from their little local garden that day. The flour came from the south someplace. The meat was purchased from a local butcher. To say the least, their pizza was drop-dead delicious, and with the wine, a top-notch meal to say the least. So when in Italy, ask around for the best restaurants. They just might be above a local bar or a building attached to someone's home. It's worth the effort to find out.
You should've seen it 40, 50 years ago. An amazing comeback!!!
Grew up 7 miles down the road from Hudson. Never went out of our way to go there if we didn't have to. Someone should have coached you IN ADVANCE to help you pronounce Claverack correctly........ The town of Chatham [[ and the 5 small Hamlets around it ]] would have been a far better choice. This show is a joke, unless you're one of those elitist, snobby New York City dwellers coming upstate for a weekend cruise........Remember, the Late Harry Belafonte had his mansion in the woods just outside of Chatham for a reason, not along the Hudson River in Hudson.
Kingston was exactly the same, long before people from Brooklyn started coming up. Except rents were cheaper.
Hudson is NOT all about food !!!!
It use to be my favorite place till the NYC people moved there and ruined it for all the life timers !!!!
Born and raised there. Your really missing the cool stores that used to be there. Really nice mom and pop stores. Suttys candy store😪😪 jj newberry, town fair! Cool toy stores. Hudson has lots of cool stories and memories. Warren street has always been the focal point of Hudson.
Fantastico video 👍👍👍👍
Honestly the people from Brooklyn can return to Brooklyn.
Food studio highly recommend

Cooperstown is for lovers…drinkers and lovers. I used to live, literally, above the distillery. (0 out of 10 do not recommend my landlord) However! I love to see my old friends and classmates. Yay Nate on drums!
Ole savannah is widely known as the worst restaurant in Kingston
smitten
Yikes..
Amazing after the Italians move out it's still little Italy????.
What a drunken rude mess , amazing camera work but wow between the slurring and boarderline insults I can see why non of the owners were too happy to talk to her 🤦♂️ I must say though the video did it's job when it came to seeing really amazing looking food and drinks and cool spots
I live here it’s boring
There is a lot to the City of Hudson, other than Warren Street. Rampant gentrification!
Used too watch this show every weekend...
Great video. Been to Little Italy in Manhattan and the the one in the Bronx. I wish all those businesses stay there forever.

Was born in Kingston new York until I left when I was 23 .They never show or talk about the violence and gangs that once made life shit for those who lived in its poor areas
Maybe Cuomo and the N.Y. democrats can bring back IBM (his father drove them out!) and make Kingston great again. No, their business is the welfare state.
