    Good video and explanation, much appreciated! I’ve found when re-fitting the tunnel or matting back, taking the handbrake lever off completely or just unbolting it (but leaving it connected) and moving it over while refitting helps immensely. Makes refitting a breeze. I’m going to riv-nut the handbrake bolts on mine to make unbolting it easier. By the way, your footwells are immaculate and would make most defender owners envious!

    • @Rich_Runs_Cars
      @Rich_Runs_Cars Месяц назад

      Thanks. Yes, I have to admit to counter-productive laziness in not removing the handbrake lever! That sounds like a great idea, as I will surely need to remove again before too long. Yes, the footwells are amazingly good - but the rust is in other places on this one!

    The 5 speed automatic transmission that Mercedes-Benz used it a masterpiece, with a V8 or V12 you dont need more gears than 4 or 5 the motor has enough torque to move this full size sedan around. And the 5 speed automatic transmission is really reliable compared to the transmission that replaced it. I have never understood why a normal vehicle need more gears in a automatic transmission than 4 or 5, it is just something that will break and be expensive to repair...

    My opinion to whoever decides to buy S350,500,600 W221 from now onwards. No matter how cheaply or well you purchase W221 be prepared and happy to treat it as a yacht. Typical works that pops your way (but not limited to) are: Air struts air suspension changes, changing box that is attached to transmission changing gears, intage manifold change, parking break. You need to be rich enough not for purchase of the car but rich enough to spend during ownership while still enjoying it. Then happy S Class driving days.

  • @petkuscinta9797
    @petkuscinta9797 2 месяца назад

    W221 is arguably in my opinion last S class that has greatness in it. Some would say W222 but 222 starts having elements of saying good bye to boomers/Xgeneration and transitioning to younger that likes swipe sreens and lights and electronics. I have no idea what I am going to do once my W221 2012 model comes to the end. I highly dislike new cars where you feel like entering shop selling TV's where static energy just . . . you feel it.

    Good detailed video. The wolfs look great! Question about the acoustic mat system. How does the handbrake mount with the mat system in place? Does it bolt on top of the mat or to the seat box as originally designed? Also, is there much clearance between the handbrake base/mount and the transmission tunnel mat? I have the same mat system and the handbrake doesn’t really fit with the matting in place. Also, how is the seat box mat fitted around the latches for the under seat box lids. Cheers

    • @Rich_Runs_Cars
      @Rich_Runs_Cars 3 месяца назад

      Thanks very much! My Wolf's have both had the matting in two parts - one for the floor/footwells/tunnel, and one part around the seat boxes. The part for the seat boxes has sections cut out of it for the latches and for the handbrake, so the handbrake bolts directly to the seat box, as originally. There's a small amount of clearance between handbrake and mat for the tunnel, but not that much! Happy to share photos if you drop me a private message. I'll also be doing a video on tidying up the footwells in the next couple of weeks, so will try to include in that.
