How does a High Tech Combine work? | Field Mapping iPad
How does a High Tech Combine work? In this video we show you how our John Deere 9570 Combine works and what Tech is used to make the combine more efficient. We use a Precision Planting Unit that tells us information like yield and moisture. An iPad Mini is then connected to the Precision Planting Unit for recording the information and performing field mapping.

I grew my own Pancake Flour! From Seed to Harvest!
Просмотров 613Год назад
Have you ever wondered how flour is made? We planted, harvested, and milled our own Cereal Rye cover crop into flour. The cereal rye was grown using generative farming practices. #regenerativefarming #regenerativeagriculture #sustainablefarming #covercrops #notill #familyfarming #harvest #tractor
did the quality of Rye improved by using compost and no more synthetic fertz?
@@senryuuhoutaro3353 we have not seen much of a change in the rye quality or nutrient quantity yet. This might change as our soil and system improve.
@@gibbsfieldfarms Excited to see, the long term effect. Maybe the soil will get newer and newer micronutrients, to develop more nuanced taste. I live for tasty food.
Could you make a video what that continuous flow bin looked like before you filled it up? I’d like like to build one just like that, thanks
Do ypu have a watering system
What kind of hand winch did you use? how many pounds? so far wich one would you recommend? steel cable or stainless steel? Thank you.
Hi! Any chance you could share the design of blade and hand cranks? is it a metal sheet flat blade? Thank you
This is brilliant 😮
Nice work
Ooh, remove the plastic and use mulch
I had my vermicompost tested as a manure and it was loaded with Calcium plus all the trace minerals, potassium and phosphorous, not a huge amount of nitrogen. I use natural bedding, a lot more nutrients than paper or cardboard. My garden looks like a jungle right now, everyone is happy. Have you ever considered growing your cash crops without commercial pesticides or fertilizers? Check out Dr Elaine Ingham, she is the Goddess of the soil food web, has a lot to do with regenerative farming. Stay Well!!!!
I love your garden . The perfect looking gardens only work if you got plenty of time and money for organic fertiliser etc . Keep it simple it’s more fun
Do test all your bins
When your compost is active, it likely lowers your energy consumption to heat your shop in the winter. Good idea of doing two benefits at once
Interesting video! Did I hear you on the No-Till Farmer podcast talking about your vermicompost extracts? I enjoy watching and learning from people who are innovating and not afraid to do things differently so I’ll be subscribing. G’day from Brisbane Australia.
We can see that you're in love with the entire process. Can I be honest?....I feel like for the effort put into the composting process, the anticlimax for this process is the long duration to compost. Certainly, this is a hot composting method without turning. Without the pipes, the materials can break down in that same amount of time. But, you are the first person to demonstrate the complete breakdown of all layers
Smart!
I bury all of my compost
Do you happen to have plans, or design drawings for that setup? I am tired of turning compost. This is the perfect solution.
Go to Michigan Soil Works on RUclips. I built mine similar to theirs.
I asked pioneer yesterday, can I get my grain sorghum and field corn "naked'', their reply no. We I guess I won't be buying them anymore
I was able to get some Pioneer but I had to order it and pay for it in the fall. They do t give a discount to not treat it since it is a hassle for them.
Please put some mortar trays on the bottom of that machine!!!! You are literally giving yourself double the amount of work to clean that up off the floor and do w.e you do with it!
You can freeze bottles of water and toss them into the worm bin. That will help keep your temps lower.
My worms seems to hang out in the bottom of my bins
I keep a good food source on the top so they tend to stay in the top foot
Thats so awesome so smart any video in how it was done
@gibbsfieldfarms are you going to share an update on the non GMO field? How did the 60 inch corn test plot do.
Hopefully soon. Been very busy. Non gmo corn looked really good but we were in a D4 drought this year, it only yielded 150 bushel. 60” corn was 125 bushel. We are hoping for more rain in 2024 so we see some better results. 👍🌱
how many weeks before it cooled down enough to add worms ?
I believe it took about a month or so.
What are you going to use to extract it?
I have a continuous flow extractor I use.
❤
Both the Johnson Su Compost and the Continuous Flow Worm Bin use red wigglers. What are the advantages or disadvantages of each?
Johnson Su is a year long process to compost, a continuous flow worm system is a faster composting system that only takes about 3-6 months. The benefits of the Johnson Su is a more fungal dominate compost. Which is great for agriculture use since we are fungal deficient.
I understand that red wiggles stay near the surface. If that is so, does that mean they don't process the entire Johnson Su bioreactor?
@@evoliveoil yes, but the Johnson Su is already pretty well broken down since it it a year old.
what is the flour milling equipment ? where to find it? do you like it or wish for something else.
This is the first stuff we had milled. We do not own any milking equipment yet. I had Heartland Craft Grains milk it for me on a stone mill. They are a state inspected facility.
To save you back, you could place a couple trays under the flow-through composter so that, when you crank the bar, the compost falls onto the trays and you don't have to shovel it, especially in that awkward position. You can then lift and move around all the compost in only one move.
👍🏼
Great video! Thanks!
What are you burning down the over crop with? Could you not harvest or mow the wheat then drill the corn?
I didn’t want to cut and harvest the wheat cover crop mix because I am trying to build organic matter and use the dead flat cover as weed control in my corn. I burned down the cover crop with glyphosate and 24d. We are lowering our application rates every year and trying to go away from it.
Rather than the hand pump sprayer, think of using RYOBI 40V Lithium-Ion Cordless 4 Gallon Backpack Sprayer , great job, thanks for sharing!
Heck of a copilot
Thanks! The kids love to help and ride with.
היי אנחנו קבוצה מישראל שצופים בערוץ שלך. אבל לא כולם מבינים אנגלית ונשמח מאוד אם תוסיף תרגום בעברית כדי שנבין אותך טוב יותר. תודה מראש😊
Great video. How did you make the cutting Bar?
It’s just a flat piece of steel with a cable on each end, it slides in between 2 other pieces of steel. Super simple. I built it similar to the Michigan Soil Works worm bin.
Why don't ya put a tarp under it when harvesting? Then you can just pull the tarp out with the castings on it.
Great idea! I will try that.
I thought the same thing, put a bin under there to capture it
Looks great, how do you mange the leachate?
I mist it heavy with water every day. Never too much. I have not had any leachate drip out the bottom yet. That is a sign of over watering
Been thinking about making one myself. We've got plenty of those seed bags at home too. How long do they last before breaking down?
I was told 2 years. I’ve had compost in those bags for 1.5 years and the bags were fine yet.
Great system Great info!
Thanks for the videos. I like watching them.
I think you're doing great! Thanks for sharing the details of what you did and showing us the results.
The use of seed bags is a good one. We tried using geotextile fabric but found it to be too breathable resulting in the outside getting too dry. Did you cover the totes and water? BTW, I so appreciate your videos as it's really hard to find detailed farm scale compost information for guys that don't have mega-bucks to hire consultants. Thank you😀
We do not cover them, but we do water them daily or every other day. It’s easy to make them on a large scale very cheap. We just try to use what we have laying around.
Just found your channel mate. Fabulous content love it.
Thank you!
What experiments have you done that have gone into production?
60” wide corn has been adopted on small scale across the United States and also in other countries. Works good for grazing cattle after harvest if managed properly. Non gmo corn has also been widely grown and used for specialty markets as well.
@@gibbsfieldfarms I work in software engineering and one of the complexities is designing experiments that make sense on a larger scale and can reasonably be leveraged when successful.
@gibbsfieldfarms are you going to share an update on the non GMO field? How did the 60 inch corn test plot do.
What temperature is your compost getting to in the thermophylic stage?
It usually gets up to 140. It has never gotten over 160.
@@gibbsfieldfarms I made 10 J/Ss this summer and I had some get to around 145 and others that only got to around 110. I didn't use any manure or alfalfa so that is probably why. I think I didn't have them packed enough and the material was not broken down enough and there was too much air getting in. I hope the lower temperature ones work out ok if I'm going to babysit them all winter haha. I'm keeping them in an insulated reefer trailer, can fit two on each side with enough room between to walk through. Hope I can keep it above 32f in -30 temperatures. I found you from your live talk with Young Red Angus. Keep up the videos I look forward to them.
@@gibbsfieldfarms Are you grinding the alfalfa and other materials up before putting it in the TMR mixer? I'm looking either a vertical TMR mixer or a bale grinder. I was using my skid steer to sort of roll the material and mix it. Trying to think of what would be a better investment.
Thanks for the great video! For space savings you can stack this at least three high. We do this when they are full of 2,200Lb liquid raw materials daily in our chemical plant.
You should sell the machines! Looks well built. Or at least the plans and materials. Good job!😊
Great Job Ryan! Keep up the good work
Thanks!
Beautiful stand
I love this design! I would love to get a copy of the design drawings if you have any available for sale or otherwise. Cheers
I built it similar to the Michigan Soil Worms worm bin. They have some RUclips videos as well with an in depth 3D video of their design.
