Nothing better in the Folk Acoustic world than this! What a tragic loss for Tracy & the world that Dave Carter was taken so soon. Beautiful legacy that you have Tracy ... just a gorgeous song and a beautiful duet.

I saw them in 2000 at a Unitarian Church in Orange, ca. I first saw them in feb 99 and caught them whenever they were in so cal. First time I saw them Dave was selling his solo CD snake Handlin Man, Which he signed as well as ‘when I go’ cd. The sweetest guy ever. So I was in a hallway before they were ready to go on and they were kind enough to say hi. (I was sort of a fixture when they played in so CAL). I requested RED and Tracey winced. Dave said “she doesn’t like that song”. To which Tracey nodded vigorously. He told me his original lyric about mr. Rogers was. “Friendliest fucker I’ve ever seen” but his label convinced him to change it. They played it live that night. Such an amazing moment in my life.

I wonder if "Sweet Maria" is a reference to the same named unique weapon in Fallout: New Vegas....

I don't think I've ever read a piece of poetry that so well captures abject, persistant dispair driven well beyond the point of feeling anything at all. I knbow this wasn't aimed at war, but it reminded me of my military days.

I've heard people who don't understand this type of music say "ugh this is soo baddd lol xD" but don't realise this is some of the best post-hardcore/ emo music ever fucken released in the 2000's era, wayy more influenced by classic melodic hardcore and emo than other bands at the time. I wish there were good live performances of these songs floating around. At the very least, they should play some of this stuff on the almost there tour!

I agree with all the reviewers, this is one of my favorite Dave Carter songs. He was a friend of mine as he lived in the same dorm at OU (Okla.) He was quite a musician and a terrific person. Found out he had passed away 4 years after it happened. Sure do miss him.
