How to Have a Relaxing Experience on Bimini
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.Год назад
This is my second video on Bimini Island in the Bahamas because we went again by cruise ship and did some different things. I won't be going over any of the resorts or casinos, but instead will show you an off-the-beaten-path way to enjoy a relaxing day and spend about $20. So this is not a comprehensive tour of Bimini Island, but instead just some short tips to give you a unique experience to ...

Melbourne International Airport - Florida

This is a tour of Orlando Melbourne International Airport in Melbourne, Florida. It's the same distance to the cruise port terminal at Port Canaveral and to Cape Canaveral as Orlando airport is, and it's WAY easier to get around. It's a small airport that has been recently renovated. I highly recommend flying in and out of this airport if you plan on visiting the Space Coast of Florida. Even if...

You will see what it's like to search for stunning sea glass in the cave-like rock structures on the edge of the Caribbean Sea. And this isn't just regular old sea glass, this is the good stuff, the bubbles, the multis and even the odd bottle stopper. We found some very rare colors as wel...
Dolphins Feeding and Playing in Key Largo
Просмотров 782 года назад
Everyday we see these dolphins playing and feeding in Blackwater Sound in Key Largo, Florida. This is a compilation of their antics. The screen enclosure up here on the 5th floor is super annoying, I know, but I can't really cut a hole in it. Every now and then we see some manatees join in with the dolphins. There's nothing so cute as a dolphin family with babies jumping out of the water and sp...

How can I contact Jennifer?
Hi Lauren, I got your email and responded with her information. 👍
If you walk along the pathway at the top of Blast Beach there are steps down onto the beach, avoiding that bank you went down, it scares me everytime we go there but since discovering the steps it's so much easier now and a lovely walk along the cliffs👍
Thank you for this!

I'm actually going to be taking a cruise ship to this island in 2 weeks. I was wondering would you say that the beaches there are safe to leave your bag and shoes on the beach while you get in the water?
I wouldn't leave my belongings unattended on any beach. But when we cruise, we usually ask the passengers sitting next to us on the beach to watch our things. However, I always take my key card and money with me into the water.
The Blast Beach is where they filmed Return to the planet of the apes and its part of Hawthorn beach . Back when the filming took place the beach was still suffering from years of industrialisation and the ground weeped dangerous yet beautiful chemicals of blue and yellow . On the beach there is still a WW2 Pill Box that was part of the North Sea defence along the coastline to protect the docks of Seaham and Sunderland from a potential German invasion.
Wow, I had no idea! Thanks for the information.
That water is so beautiful wow
I was hoping Easington wouldn't be discovered for the sea glass. It's the only TRUE place for Seaham glass ! Why ? Because long shore drift pulled the glass waste from Seaham and deposits it on Easington. All those people picking Seaham glass are actually picking Wearmouth glass which could date back to the 7th century
Ah, the "goat path". As a kid there would be a dozen of us ambling down there with no thought for safety in the summer just to plod in the polluted sea (from the pit waste that was tipped all along the coast up to the 1980's). It was so bad you couldn't even see your toes when you were only ankle deep !! These days I still go down that path (in my 50's now) but with respectful caution. In the winter it's dangerous mud, in the summer it's dangerous loose soil/gravel and it's easy to slip but treat it with respect and it's the fastest way down / up It was always Boaty's bay for us kids or boatmans bay for older ones. Hawthorn hive was "smugglers cove" as legend had it there was a tunnel up to the top of the banks for smuggling
What a place to grow up, it sounds amazing. Thank you for painting that picture. I really enjoy visiting that area and hope to go back soon.
This helped us so much! My family is so tired of having to wait while I take pictures. So they thank you too!
I'm so glad it made everyone happy. That was my goal. :)
The triangle would mean do not drink. Poison
That's only if it's embossed on the outside. This was a fuzzy shadow on the inside of the glass.
Looks like cobalt blue
Wow!! This is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing. And love your photos!
I'm so glad it was helpful and that you like my photos. I had a lot of fun making this.
It's sad that seaham glass is becoming harder than ever to find there is hardly any really good bits of sea glass some people were selling it by the pound last couple of years and a local told me it was running out through over picking it is still hot and miss in August 24
I agree. I started going 7 years ago and it was so easy to find glass. Last fall when I was there, we hardly found a thing, and that was after a big storm.
Hallo Barbara , thank you so much for the advices. Perfect ✌🏻
I'm so glad it was helpful!
I wonder how many years it will take for this island to be ruined. Bimini is no place for a cruise ship.
I agree. They need to manage access carefully, so that the island benefits from the money, but doesn't get run into the ground.
Wonderful video, thank you for posting.
So glad you enjoyed it!
Never approach the bay from the top of the cliff. The land is very unstable and metres of cliff can drop at any time. This video clearly demonstrates the danger the women were in. Locals would never attempt such stupidity. To access the bay walk along the beach from the north as the tide is going out. Get the tides wrong and you will be stranded. This is a beautiful bay but please don't underestimate the dangers of access.
Thanks for the comment, but it was two experienced locals who showed us where to go (and we saw a third use the goat path while we were there), plus it was written up in Beachcombing Magazine. So apparently we're not the only stupid ones. Plus we made it clear in our video that nobody should attempt this (we will never do it again) and that the shore path is much safer as long as you hit the tides right.
There’s so many people picking at seaham now, that finding any large pieces worth picking is very hit or miss.
Now that is a tropical paradise.
Any other seaglass beaches in PR?
I'm not sure. I only go by cruise ship, so there isn't time to go anywhere else on the island. I know there are some sea glass Facebook groups that have info on PR.
Jauca has a lot of seaglass. The beaches with a lot of rocks are going to have the most seaglass. Was just there in April.
The Schiphol location has a habit of overbooking and then trying to suggest it is your fault. They also put us in a room with a toilet that did not flush. As the hotel was full we were told our only option was to accept the situation. When I pushed back on this being the only option (for example finding us a room elsewhere) I was told that I would be asked to leave and banned. Compared with other CM locations this is an unpleasant and stressful property.
I hope you wrote a review on Google or Trip Advisor. I've stayed there so many times and have had nothing but stellar experiences with them. They've gone out of their way to accommodate me on numerous occasions.
@@BarbaraIngramTravel On Tripadvisor. We did speak to another manager the next day and they promised they ‘would look at the issue’. There is no evidence they did. They had other issues. When we left that day there was a huge queue waiting to get rooms which was getting a little spicy.
@@truebrit3578 Sounds like something strange was going on. Maybe they're shorthanded?
@@mystoriumX why are you being an apologist for them? If a hotel is shorthanded its fine for them to offer you a room with a broken toilet or tell people who have reservations that they are overbooked? I had used their Bowery location several times and posted good reviews about it - other than their signature bar being privately booked every evening so it was practically impossible to use.
6:30
It’s no longer an International Airport.
Ok, thanks for the info. I was just there a couple of weeks ago and hadn't noticed the change.
Wondering if that interior cabin has a mini fridge behind the cabinet?
Yes they do. I will need to show those in the future. Thanks!
What is the dragon glass made out of? I Loved your video!!
It is still sea glass, it's just affected by ore that it was mixed with and when cooled at different temps, has amazing affects.
is there a way to go see the underwater pyramids that close to the bimini islands?
I'm not sure. I haven't heard of those.
Thanks ❤️ this is so helpful ☺️ off on a cruise next year to Costa Rica so I will pop by !
I'm so glad you found this helpful!
Lovely collection! I have read a lot about #seahambeach - would love to go one day 🥰
Thank you! It's such fun to go there.
Wow, wow, wow just watched the video! I just was in awe of the way you got down and up there my vertigo was in meltdown just watching. Finds were fabulous 😍👌Thanks for a great watch 😊
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I'm terrified of heights and we had to turn off the camera at one point so my cousin could come retrieve me from where I was glued to the side of the cliff and couldn't move lol.
If you did you own snorkeling and not part of an excursion, I assume that you brought your own snorkeling equipment?
Yes, we always bring our own equipment when we cruise.
Nice
Interesting. I've wondered a few times whether there was (still) a working path down to the beach from the level crossing (White Steps). I looked at it today, though I suspect it was the slightly more northerly entrance that I looked at. I just thought it looked too risky, unlike the path down the cliff from a level crossing just north of Hawthorn Dene which I climbed up today, and down on an earlier occasion. I just came upon your video when looking for information as to whether/when it is thought the railway is/will be under threat from coastal erosion. Haven't found any reference so far. This railway is one of the few alternatives to the ultra busy East Coast Main line (e.g. if there is a problem with it, or to send freight trains along). There is a campaign for the reopening of the mothballed (but, unfortunately track removed) Leamside Line from Ferryhill to Washington (Wearside) and on to Pelaw (South Tyneside), and I wondered whether if coastal erosion was a threat to the Durham Coast railway line this might create greater urgency for reopening the Leamside Line.
We did hear there was a big land slip in December, but haven't been back and don't know what it took out.
It seems to me as if the multis are getting depleted,so disappointed, because I'm planning to go there this summer, and I'm all the way from South Africa. In 2018 I still could get a few beautiful multis. Hope luck will be on my side again.
Yes, we've seen a dramatic decrease in the past 6 years since we've been going.
I also found black sea glass but it is not green when you shine a light into it it is more blue wat dus dat mean what kind of sea glass is it then
If it looks black unless you hold it up against a bright light like a cell phone, then it's considered "Black Glass" or what they're now calling "Pirate Glass." It's just not as old as the amber or olive green colors.
I also found black sea glass but it is not green when you shine a light into it it is more blue wat dus dat mean what kind of sea glass is it then
If it looks black without any light, then it's still considered black glass, even if it's a different color. It's just not as old as the olive/amber colors.
What if you found black glass but its nog green but bleu
Anything that looks black without shining a light through it, is considered "black glass." It was just traditionally made with very dark olive/amber colors. But later they made dark glass using all different colors. In the sea glass world, it's all considered black glass of you can't tell the color just by looking at it. The romantic term 'Pirate Glass' has recently started circulating when referring to black glass. Even though it has nothing to do with pirates.
Short and sweet. I love it.
Glad you like it!
Hahah hi 👋 me again… just a heads up… Easington colliery is a canny rough place…. In fact there’s some streets you could just about buy a house for the price you probably paid for your air bnb 😂😂… last time I was there there was a lot of slides as I was walking past… well scary, also the bay between hawthorn and shippersea is called beacon point bay 🤘
Oh I’m watching while commenting… you have beacon point marked on the map🤦♂️ also… that creamy coloured one you have as dragon glass I think is actually opaline glass… and that bit is the biggest most perfect one I’ve seen!! 🥰
And I reckon that dude down on the beach is Paul gammy… known locally as ‘jammy Gammy’ … him and his friends go to some spots they have to absail into!! … that massive dragon egg you found though 🥵🥵🥵 dreams are made of that ! The storm thing… yea I find big lumps at high tide but I find you need a few tides after a storm to just filter everything out and leave the goodies on the top 🤘
Yea… the black truffle has the BEST cake! 😂
I had to laugh at your replies while you watched...very entertaining! 😂 That was not Paul on the beach, but we did look for him during our 2 weeks there, however, we never ran into him. We did meet Andy Iceton, though, and thoroughly enjoyed chatting with him and learning more about the local area. I've been going for about 6 years now, but finally decided to make a video since we never could find any reference info for the area south of Seaham. And the piece I called Dragon Glass (instead of opalescent) was because it had green stripes throughout (hard to see in the picture), so I took the liberty of categorizing it as something a little more special than the regular opalescent. 😉 I do appreciate your knowledge and comments, and thanks for watching!
Hahaha sorry to spam comment ( it all helps the algorithm 😂) but my goodness… apart from the fact I had flashbacks and now probably will have nightmares 😂… what an amazing video ❤… it’s really given me the bug to get back there! … I’ll be walking round at low tide though 😂😂😂… looking forward to watching your other videos… you’ve definitely earned my subscription 🎉😂
Your comments brighten my day lol. Yes, it was super scary and I'll never do it again. 😊
Hahahah your face on that picture 😂… mine was like that … but with tears, greyer, and stuck to the floor 😂
Hahaha ! I haven’t even watched but the moment you mentioned the goat track … my stomach dropped and my heart went mad… I’ve walked(crawled on my hands and knees) up it…. Once! … I’ve bottled out of it a couple more times… there’s no way I would walk down it though… it’s terrifying 😂🫣…. Gonna watch the vid now… massive bigs up to you if you did that ❤🤘🤘🤘
