2024 Steamboat Gravel - Select Course Sections
Просмотров 1732 месяца назад
The 2024 Steamboat Gravel race offered a new course to the Black race, omitting some previous sections, and adding a few new ones, most notably the Whooligan Pass. I was covering the Elite Women's race on the Black course with my videographer. Some of this video included our pre-ride on Saturday, and race day Sunday. The Moon Dust Section was too soft and deep for riding two up, so none of the ...
Swim Out of Cripps Hole on Lower Clear Creek's Screaming 1/4 Mile
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.4 месяца назад
I've run this section a few dozen times, and Screaming 1/4 Mile is my favorite section of Lower Clear Creek. Had a great run, hit all my lines, but when it came to Cripp's Hole, I was too focused on the hole rather than my boof stroke. Going left of center, I hit the drop and realized I stalled. Cripp's was like a tractor beam, it just sucked me back into the hole. I got into a long side surf, ...
Trestle - Big Wave Trains, Trash, and Trees @ 3100

A significant spring storm produced a few inches of rain along the Front Range of Colorado, and a few feet of snow in the mountains. Run off from the city streets of Denver and surrounding suburbs bumped the South Platte River to levels where Trestle Wave came in. You gotta take it when it comes because it drops out as fast as it comes in. Don decided we needed to put in by the skate park, whic...

A Lake Estes Olympus Dam release gave the Big Thompson River a pre-season treat to in-season flows. This is my first time on Big T and it allowed me to run in a new creek boat, the Gnarvana. Boulder Creek Town Run @500 cfs

With all the recent rainfall on top of a wet spring along the Front Range of Colorado, Barker Reservoir began spilling adding to the spring runoff. With a heavy thunderstorm adding to this release, Bryce and I headed to Boulder Creek for a higher than usual flow town run...playboat style. Compared to a typical 350 cfs BC flow, the creek was faster, holes were bigger and more playful, but less f...

Steven's Down on the Poudre is a Colorado Gem, providing class IV rapids. On this rapid, Tunnel Rapid, can be very tricky with lots of hidden FU rocks, pitons, and holes...level dependent. Urban Kayaking at Confluence WW Park in Denver

Today was just too fun, especially on the "All Day Wave"! On a warm day in mid-February, Don Dowling and myself hit up the Confluence Whitewater Park in Denver, Colorado. The whitewater park seldom freezes up, and there are always features to work skills...if you don't mind the foam. I hit up Confluence often during the winter months, and today was probably the most fun I've had there is awhile...

The rope was tied to teh raft, so the lift was minimal, but just enough. Yeah, these things can go badly. The rafter on teh rock reached out to me a few days later and explained what happened. All was good, and hoped everyone learned from this, including a new whistle for one of my crew members.
