Golf mk5 TDI Rolling Road Dyno Pull, Mapped PD engine, Hybrid Turbo Smoker with unusual torque curve
In this video we look at a CW Golf mk5 with a 105hp PD TDI engine that has had plenty of work done and produced a rather unusual torque curve for a TDI engine. It also made loads of power and torque.

Liam brought his mk2,5 Mazda MX5 to Cruise Culture 2024 and put in on the WOT Power mobile rolling road for a power run. The car is sporting an aftermarket ECU, exhaust header and individual throttle bodies. However the EU has not had a mapping session on a rolling road yet. WOT power do you think it makes.....

In this video I show you Bens other car, this beautiful mk2 VW Golt GTi 16V, now converted to 20 valve turbo power, with a VAG AGU 20V engine. The ECU has had a flash map and there are a few supporting mods too. The car made good power and produced a clean torque curve. Be sure to check out Bens E36 328i in my previous video.

In this Video I show you Bens Lovely E36, 328i Coupe, with Cone filter, M50 intake or inlet manifold, M3 style headers, and a CAT back Exhaust, in addition the ECU has been modified to allow the engine to rev to 7200rpm. In this video I show you this lovely, very shiny Ford Escort mk3 XR3i. We put it on the WOT Power mobile rolling road and see what horsepower and torque it has. It has a modified exhaust system and a free flowing air filter but 121000 miles on the clock. Watch what happens when the car starts to smoke after the last run. It seems a CV boot let go and put grease all over the exhaust.

Nothing to do with a safe map . That's lag .. not torque capping the power .
@@welshd1k yeah my hunch was a very large turbo not waking up in the low rpm. Owner has messaged on insta and appartly its much better now, no smoke and way more torque

Torque was probably brought in linear to stop the pd105 engine famously throwing a rod through the block.

@WOTPower The PD105 is well known for it in the PD scene. It's the weakest engine out of them all.

Lambda sensor does not have any control over fueling at WOT
@@slotsmithy this car won't have a lambda sensor. The K-jetronic mechanical fuel injection system is not computerised and is open loop all the time. What I meant in the video is I would have liked to put my lambda sensor sensor in the tail pipe to check the fueling is good throughout the rev range. Thanks for watching and commenting. @@dietznutz1 Do you know what... I'm getting myself confused, it's a different MX5 that's been back on the rollers. I answered in a hurry and thought you were taking about the other MX5 video. Going back.to your original question. Yes I'm sure it's accurate. I appreciate it was down on power, a good chunk lower than stock, very dissapointing, but have you seen the torque curve? This was defiantly not running right. It had an aftermarket ECU but hadn't been tuned at all. It was always gunna be down on power

@WOTPower I had a high mileage 1.6 8v 5dr ph3 meridian in China Blue off dad, then replaced it with a low mileage 1.8 16v in Moonstone. Lovely cars. I planned to keep the latter long term, but fate floodwater and a telegraph pole had other ideas.

165 - 167 hp is what all of them actually do stock from factory. it`s probably tyred as that curve is not supposed to be bumpy, it supposed to be smooth, but it could be something like a bad spark plug or bad remap, etc... a quick remap usually gives them 200+ hp at the engine so this one is definitely not remapped properly for the new turbo, I see a different exhaust manifold, etc. it needs a health check, a boost controller and a remap. the engines are robust, the gearboxes sound like a helicopter but they don`t blow out unless you really beat them. The original clutch doesn`t hold good for launching even the stock power, you will need an upgrade. They hate E10 petrol.

@@WOTPower You`re welcome! Hopefully he does. they are fun little cars and the engines are a very close relative to the 4g63 engine in the evos, this one being called a 4g15. I still don`t know why the 2.0l is called 4g63 and the 1.5 is called a 4g15 but that`s Mitsubishi for you right there.

@@WOTPower they do, but they're good engines so I'll give them a pass 🤣. To be honest, mine has 200k miles and still did the stock power figure. I don't think I've ever seen a sturdier engine. It lost virtually nothing in almost 20 years and 200k miles!

Nice Mk2. 👌 Is there a chance the wet weather could have had an effect on the dyno?
@@golfmk2 it's a beauty isn't it! The rain did wet the rollers, the wheels span for the first few seconds while checking strap tension but the tyres and rollers dried very quickly and after that it was quite normal. Wheel spin is very easy to detect. It's quite apparent in the result.

my 328 has 220bhp it has a stage 1 map and m50b25 manifold

Valve stem oil seals fit the top hat type also check the cam and tappets for wear as they do suffer with this and u will lose power but at 124000 miles the rest of the engine maybe tired
@@MegaReddevil71 thanks for the suggestions I'm sure Mark will read them. I don't know ow that's it's enough to worry about. Obviously the moke was the CV boot letting go, the first two runs there was no smoke at all, so the valve stem seals should be fine. Its got all those miles on it. Its probably about where it should be i think. Maybe some bore wear, some valve seat leakage and your cam wear is a good shout. If I was Mark though, I wouldn't be thinking that ifs low enough to be pulling it apart....... Thanks for the comment, and thanks for watching

@@Alandixon88 yeah man! There's load of untapped potential all locked away and made boring at the nissan factory. I would love to get a little K11, test all the components one by one over a day or two on the RR. Make a real case study of it. They're bloody brilliant little things.
@@WOTPowerI got 11hp/6nm more with full Gizfab exhaust system and i got stock inlet manifold. That original exhaust manifold is bad also.
Love that, looks to be quite a simple conversion too for a considerable performance gain over the A series
@@nickproofcertified yeah man. Its quite a compact little thing, both the minis I seen on the RR have had a a subframe that some specialist makes for this conversion. I think after that it's then fairly straight forward. Cheers fir the comment bud
The subframes can be purchased from Ryan at RCL Frames, he sells everything for the conversion and very supportive. These are a fantastic engine, I've te slightly bigger 1349cc CGA3DE in mine and islts and awesome swap. Would love to getine on the RR but all the way up in Newcastle

I'm not sure if its ever been apart, I would need to ask Mark more about it, but it certainly looked tidy for its mileage, the car and the engine.

That's the problem with the Busso 24V. The ports are big and has no VVT. Good for a track day car and less so for a street car in the 21st century. If you want a track car, this engine is a good choice., looks good, has power, old skool, sounds amazing.
