Thank you so much for putting this online Hal! I am currently a PGM student working towards my class A and was lucky enough to attend this Teaching and Coaching summit. I took notes on my phone during the entire summit but your presentation resonated with me and how I want to teach the game of golf. Unfortunately, I lost the notes after my phone completely died and nothing was backed up. Thank goodness you posted this on RUclips! I allude to this presentation all the time and "being in the green" all the time. Losing the notes was completely devastating. Now that I can revisit this presentation anytime, and take improved notes on the subject I feel such a sense of relief. This completely clicks with me and has been a huge stepping stone to aid me in developing my golf philosophy. I would love to ask you some more questions personally to help fill some of the gaps that I have had in developing this. Expect an e-mail soon! Thank you once again!

i think having and building up and restoring Drive and Determination and keeping on trying and adapting are all far more important than being "confident", i know Dr Winters knows this but a lot of people seem to think it's about being "confident" when really it's about being in the zone and not overthinking things just doing the shots to get to our target thanks Dr Winters, i really hugely appreciate you giving advice to us..i am trying to rebuild my life and build up doing more of my songs and things like that so it is very helpful to listen to you thankyou

I realize this is a late comment Hal, but I only just recently came across RUclips vids of your podcast. The thoughts you and Brad make on playing then v playing now are great insights. I'm 67 myself, and I can tell you that sitting in the practice area of any particular tournament from the late 70's to the early 90's you could see a WIDE variety of golf swings from tour pros as you looked down the line. In fact, you could just about see a particular swing and guess who it was without seeing their face. These days it looks like an assembly line of robotic, identical moves that seem to stretch the physical limits of one's body, and the injuries that occur as a result are not surprising. Why is it that when you count 125 card carrying pros, and a smattering of those with exemptions, you see pretty much the same faces on Sunday at or near the leaderboard? I believe it's the mental toughness that separates the winners from the participants, plain and simple. All of them have mad golf skills, down to player # 125, but only a very few can rise up mentally with what it takes to finish strong. I always thought you were just such a player.

Hal, I really applaud you on featuring Parker and his insights to improving your short game. This is a part of the game that involves around 70 % of the total score, but is practiced about 10 %, from an amateur standpoint. By practicing his techniques, I have shaved a good dozen strokes off my rounds. His setup and execution look so simple that at first, if your brain is still clogged with older schools of thought, you'll swear this is total B.S. He has helped me to take each wedge in my arsenal 52/56/58/60 and create an additional 4/5 clubs with the different trajectories used, high/mid/low, along with lots of spin and flop shots that are looked forward to, not dreaded and choosing to bump or putt without thought like before. Thanks for your channel, Mike.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and being around Hal in several occasions and I have to say, he’s one of the nicest people I have ever met. He had an awesome teaching facility in Columbus TX where my son worked with his top instructor at the time Chase Cooper. This place was top notch and Hal had all of his trophies displayed in the clubhouse. He also had the bag of clubs he used to win the 2000 Players Championship. I’ve had my hands on the infamous “be the right club today!” 6 iron lol!! He has since moved from that facility but it sure was great to be able to be around those guys out there and listen to the stories. Good times.

Wow guys, thanks. I remember the first time I became acquainted with this stabilizing. I did this exact thing,.(1985) move or feeling. I thought of it at the time as a drill but it became proper because I didn't lose spine angle and the results were more consistent iron flushing and improved trajectory. It was difficult at the time because I was a slider, back and through. Went to the Orange Bowl shortly after finding myself in the hunt w D. Hart, R.Gamez, G. Nicklaus, P. Mickelson. I found this feeling on my own but this is a perfect example of the benefits of having a coach/teacher lesson and relationship.

The best golfers feel it with their hands, but that's really saying that they feel it with their minds. Good golfers hit fades with their minds. If your mind wants to hit it low, your body will produce the right action. Most golfers don't feel the shot with their minds before address. They stand over the ball with a cluttered mind. It rarely produces the desired result. You want to know what you're going to do well before you do it. And when you address the ball, you need a calm mind. To calm the mind, think of your best shots in that situation. Then think solely of the target. Do not think of past bad shots. Do not think of total score. Do not think about trouble. The best swing thoughts are the visualization of the desired shot. If you're trying to hit it low, visualize a low target in front of you. Visualize that you are trying to launch the ball below a gate. The mind directs the body. If you were going to roll a ball across the green with your hand, you wouldn't be taking actual practice strokes. You would be focused on the target. Your body would respond to the target you are focused upon. You wouldn't need alignment lines or a caddy to line you up. You would roll it naturally according to your visualized target. You wouldn't need training aids. The solution is in the mind.

I work with a lot of juniors and really want to contribute to the mindset of getting out of our own way (with the mind). I try to keep mechanics as simple and basic as possible and play as many random type of games as possible. (On the range, around the practice green) to get them to get confident at forgetting and recalling. Anyway, thanks again and please stop to say hello or even play some golf if you're ever in town. -Turner Acosta

Golf is and should only be about the golfers and the spectators (fans)...not about the administrators. And at this stage the ego's of the administrators are hurting the game they are suppose to be managing and supporting. The issue about Saudi money is hypocritical and plain BS! Americans are driving cars fueled by Saudi oil...even Biden went to beg Saudi for oil...and most Americans are purchasing products and services from Saudi and Saudi-backed companies...so why this issue with a Saudi-backed sport....? Does any of these PGA players feel good about their rankings knowing that there are better players in LIV that are discriminated against...? Golf is a job...and anyone should be able to work anywhere and earn an income. Just my opinion....

Great points Hal brings up about learning from those came before it’s true in golf and life. I’m 65 just retired 30 plus years in an industry. Most of the younger reps thought they knew more than “ the broken down old man” lol. However there were 2-3 reps that called me to pick my brain and still do and they have risen to the top . Number 1 because they are super talented and 2 because they learned from my mistakes. Hal is taking on the-role that Byron & Jackie B provided him super cool to see. Jon Rahm was mentioned as a guy that learned from OLLIE I also remember Jordan Spieth learning how to play Augusta from Ben Crenshaw and credited his help in winning his Green jacket
