Slip-On Bookmarks Cut On Your Scroll Saw
I'm not sure about the spiral blades, but I've seen enough in your video to KNOW I DO NOT want a Excalibur scroll saw....terrible amount of give and vibration....I've owned several scroll saws and I've never had one of any brand vibrate and saw like this one.....the blade is not causing what I was seeing.
Well, this old baby has seen many years of hard work. Never been fine tuned because I need it constantly. No time to work on it. When I got it, it ran smooth as butter. I guess I got use to the shake rattle and roll. Had a DeWalt before it, many years ago, and that was a beast. Nope. Nothing better than the Excalibur IMHO.
I agree it will take practice. My lines are sometimes like that with my no.5 ultra reverse. But I just started 3 weeks ago.
I would like pattern for the highland cow
Great idea, ever time we start to some where my wife closes her door only to remember she forgot something and goes back in the house leaving the door on her side open. I can’t reach it from my seat and if it cold out doors I want to close the the door . This would save me from getting out and walking around to close it. A second use for it would be used as a club which she could use on me when I grumbled about her leaving the door open 😊.
Glad to see you found multiple uses for this. Thanks, Al B
Brilliant work. Thank you so much. 👏👏🖐😃🇭🇲👏👏
Great job, are you from Michigan
No. All the way over in Massachusetts.
I would love to get your Valentine pattern.
I like to know where you get your patterns or do you make them yourself
I make them myself using Photoshop Elements.
Can you send me a pattern, I don't have a computer, sorry 😢
@@vincechoraszewski2394 If you know someone who can receive email I can send it that way. Just send me an email at abaggetta@comcast.net and I'll reply with the pattern attached.
Plywood may be a better choice. Due to grain pattern the curve at the hook end is a weak point if any significant force is applied.
Good point, especially if you have a heavy stubborn door.
Looks like it will achieve ludicrous speed!
Very nice and unique project
Thank you.
Link wouldn’t open 😢
Send me an email at abaggetta@comcast.net for Dreidel.
This is great cause I live in cochise county😊. Thanks for taking the time to do this video
A man of many talents for sure... Still teaching old students! Hoping for a reprise of "Summer Breeze"! Best to you, Dave
Thanks Dave, but, afraid to report that Summer Breeze has dwindled down to a little draft.
That is not in the slowest speed range,The belt needs to be on a different pulley..look under the lid...
A great puzzle! Thanks. Where did you get your sanding mop from? A must have to do these puzzles!
This is called the Sand-flee, but doesn't seem to be available any longer. Was produced by R.J.R. Studios at one time. Amazon has it listed but not available. Might try a search on ebay. Great little machine. Hope it hasn't gone the way of other fine products.
Is this better then the OME one I need a new head myself
Good replacement.
I could see the drill bit walking as holes were being drilled. Looks like a sloppy machine. I'll pass.
May I ask what the grit was on your mop sander? Great work, by the way. Thank you.
I get my baltic birch from OCOOCH HARDWOODS... I've never been disappointed.
Could this be done with a coping saw?
I imagine it could be done with a coping saw, but it would probably be quite a bit of work. If you are skilled with it, maybe it would n't be so hard.
Nice job, Al! What might be easier, and I have done this in the past, is to use resin that you can color yourself to whatever color you want. Instead of adding a backer board, you can just firmly cover the back with a special tape. When you are all done, the resin is clear! Comes out well! Thanks for sharing your experiment!
Thanks for the suggestion. I've seen the resin and you are right it does a nice job, but I was trying to concoct something from scrap around the shop. And who doesn't have a lot of sawdust.
Very nice
I like what you did. I was working on my corner work bunch I had a gap on it,I cut one piece to short by 16th of a inch short so I filled it in with sawdust and glue. I’m going to try what you did,it seems to work and it looks good .thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas.😊
Thanks, Dave.

Thank you for this build. I was thinking that it might be good to add a 2” cross at the bottom for more stability. Just a thought.
Good idea. I just wanted to pare it down, so I could slip it into my back pocket or hang it from my belt. Took it with me yesterday on a photo excursion where I got down close to my subjects. Worked great.
So you could use these blanks on the leaf puzzle you made?
Yes. This would make an interesting leaf puzzle as I demonstrated.
I am just about to get into this, and I think watching you was the answer for anyone wanting those spiral blades.
Nice
When you compare the old with the new, the older stuff looks more like Baltic Birch. That seems a little more expensive, but it is a better quality.
Holy moly, that wood would be unusable for me. Thank you for showing what you got.
I will need to practice before attempting something that detailed, but the technique shown has given me a few ideas. Thanks
Thank you.
How did you do the inlay? Dremel?
Hmmm. No inlay used.
This is crazy good, but extremely time consuming......., could you cut these with aCNC or Lazer cutting?
I suppose it could be done with CNC or lazer, but where's the fun in that? Scroll sawing is all about the process.😄
Thanks Al, I need to move to a sanding mop for sure me things. How did you know? Happy with tnem?
I have the SandFlee works great, but just about any of the wheels you can put in a drill press or hand drill have a great effect on the project.
Where can i buy the patterns?
The link should be in the description above, but in any event here it is to my Etsy Store: www.etsy.com/listing/1085819062/christmas-slim-line-ornament-pattern?ref=shop_home_active_1
its good but every piece needs to be flat to be glued together or it will not work. if used on scroll saw before then they wont be flat and most ppl dont have jointer.
Good project thank you. The spring works great
Nice project great idea for the spring.
I in joy your video’s , I’m new at the scroll saw I just made my first gnome my wife and daughter loved it. I showed your gnome pouch bank and loved it but we’re having a hard time getting it. We went to Etsy store . Not sure what we’re doing rough.😎
That's strange, Dave. If you just click on the link in the description above it should take you to the page. Very creative! I love this kind of "thinking outside the box" projects!
Nice project thanks
Great easy build. Thank you
I think tightening h blade might help ?
Someone please help me!!! I'm needing a drill press to drill into 1.5mm steel, copper and brass. Hole drilled will be 5mm. Would this do!? Help pleeeeeeeass
@glowmovies1 thank you for your reply buddy! I've sourced one that drills through metal like butter ! 😁
There’s some kind of security issue which prevents opening link to pattern file, no matter which browser I use
Hi, Nick. No security issue. I had to drop the website. If you send me an email at abaggetta@comcast.net, I'll send you the pattern. Al B
The link to pattern does not work
Nice project. What kind of plywood Do you use.
As mentioned in the video, I'm using birch ply 1/4", the good quality stuff. I pick it up at Woodcraft. If you wanted to spend more time on these you could use a hard wood machined down to size. Thanks
Why do you do it in fast motion …
Well, I try to speed up the video in hopes that people won''t get bored with just watching cutting or peeling off patterns. If you want to slow things down you can do that by using the video controls on RUclips. Just click the little sprocket at the bottom of the screen and you can change the speed. Hope this helps.
Nice looking project
