But the cows are fertile but once they are bred back to a regular bull or Bison bull they the offspring are fertile again and many of them were released into the wild. And that's why just about all the wild Bison of North America now contain ordinary cattle DNA.
Just about all the wild Bison? Well I wouldn't say all, but I heard a considerably large, perhaps a predominant percentage of the Bison now carry domestic cattle DNA as a result of all the many experimental outcrosses that were released back in the 1800's.
