What fertile imagination(s) think up all of these out-of-this-world scripts........ Thumbs up, for imagination.....
Weak
Well that must be the worst work management in the entire existence 😁 Good script, cood cast... Definitely worth the time spent here 👍
That they're running Windows 95 in purgatory 😂

THERE IS NO WAITING ROOM FOR HEAVEN AS THERE IS NO HEAVEN
I would have chosen to go back to before I was born. There’s a nice symmetry to it. What was in the gift bag?
How can you know that you have eternal life? First, confess your sin before God. Then accept God’s provision of a Savior on your behalf. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for your sins, and He rose again the third day. Believe this Good News; trust the Lord Jesus as your Savior, and you will be saved (Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-10). John puts it so simply: “God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:11-12).
Has he just joined the Masons ?
Nicely done and very funny, but whose version of a "Philly Cheese Steak" is that? It looked dry AF!
too bad the ending is so banal, with him taking a bite of the cheese steak. something better was needed to end on a high note. otherwise, at age 70, it really trigger a reflection: would I go back to zero, no memories, drawing a card from the deck, taking the chance of another life? i could be born in bangla desh, or in a shantytown in south frica, or - this is really scary - in trumpland in southern indiana (or similar.)
why is the telephone ringing in the background, is that also some kind of metaphor too, i didn't quite understand that. i was wanted to yell at him to pick up the damn thing, but that is just my adhd talking ig
Some of this was taken from “the egg” it seems
I think this film tries to explore the concept of how one can take someone in a vulnerable position and carefully manipulate them using their personality and history to get what they want out of them. It seemed like Jim had a choice, but in reality he was presented with no option, in the sense that he was tricked into thinking this version of afterlife would fill the hollow void that was created out of the shock of his death which catalysed the guilt of his lack of achievements in life, in wanting to make the world a better place. It was a leading conversation, and Stanley had carefully orchestrated the conversation to put him in that place. He could have said a lot of things, refused to tell him about his wife (which we don’t even know is true as it could’ve just been a piece of paper he had ready). When describing the choices he had, he also explained the job by saying he could ‘help others’ while the second option was left abstract. The fact that Jim had to wait a long time before seeing Stanley could also hint at the fact that Stanley took his time to research about Jim and plan his way out. The whole retirement conversation that the secretary and Stanley had when Jim just showed up inside kinda makes me wonder how she knew about how Stanley was going to use him to get his ticket out of there. Maybe its because time works differently there? Maybe 600 years of experience has made them acquire a greater intelligence where they can predict each other so well, or maybe they were both in on it? I like how they used the concept of the afterlife and eternity in an office scenario to reflect on how our working lives can feel like an eternity and how the workers resort to trickery and manipulation tactics to get what they want. Maybe Stanley had a good heart initially, but at that point he just wanted to get out, and he didn't mind screwing someone over for it. The part where Jim had literally an eternity to think before signing but chose to do it in minutes is also very interesting. I like to think that Stanley got the cheesesteak in to hasten his decision making. It came wrapped in a foil which implies that it would get cold. Its presence pivoted his perception of time in the real world, where time is limited. This can serve as a reminder for us to think well and know the details before we make any decisions, and more importantly to take our time in deciding things. We could otherwise end up spending an eternity due to an impulsive decision.
I wonder what was in the gift bag, and could it have saved his marriage?
This might seem famiiar : ruclips.net/video/ocBEaoW5okc/видео.html
It’s the little things in life that can trap us.
Too bad for all the fbombs
Fantastic acting, especially ‘Jim’.
This was a cute film .
Your film was amazing! 🎉 What kind of camera and equipment did you use?
@@RohitBSrivastava thank you for watching and commenting! We used an old Arri Alexa and some anamorphic lenses. But honestly it doesn’t matter what you use - a better question is ‘how’ you use it! Especially lighting.
@@erbillion Thanks! How about joining our podcast to share your experience in making this film?
Ok, I really thought that the Shlopfler acceped the job so that he could actually wait for his wife to eventually come through him so he could give her the giftbag he was about to bring to her in the first place. Instead he traded that for a shitty sandwhich and an opportunity to ravage the gift, meaning he didn't give a damn about his wife. The glasses guy moves to the next eternity btw, he's a moron too.
Man, these videos need more love (I'm talking to you algorithmic overlords)! Really fun, lighthearted short. You make great content
I’m wrapping up another short film with a named actor! It’ll go through the festival circuit first, but keep an eye out towards the end of the year/early 2025 for it. Hopefully I will release some shorter content before then, but I’m also working on a my debut feature so let’s see! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!
I'm very late to the party, but dude, your short films rock! The pacing, color grading, camera angles and panning keep me locked in. I like how we don't get to know much about the fast food killer, so it's an open question about who they are, and the weird guy kinda sets our expectations to think it's him. Great job to the actors too; I thought their line delivery was excellent.
Never too late! Thank you for your kind words, I’m glad you enjoyed it :) and nice one with picking up on the twist - no many people got it the first time!
Symbolism explained: we all have our own views on afterlife. That is why the man is unable to accpet that he is dead when he landed in a mundane, office-like setting waiting in a queue. He is stuck because of the mistakes he made in his life: he was a narcissist. Hence to atone for it, he is made to help people. The person who he will replace is also waiting for 600 years for someone who will request a cheese steak. He accepts the offer. Because he is horrified by the other option: to go into oblivion (when he tries to run away and opens the door, this is what he faces: darkness and nothingness). He is a narcissist so he will never accept being nothing. He wants to matter and do something. Hence he takes the position. There is a bag which he opens at the end. This will be his offering (like cheese steak was for the person who retired) he will wait for hundreds of years for someone to arrive and ask for it. Then only can he leave. The person who retired says that he "did not choose". 600 years ago he received a similar contract and he did not choose. It took him 600 years to make a decision: he chose to go into oblivion. He was such a bad person that even after being made to help people for 600 years, he hates this work. He left without even greeting his collegeas for the last time. From one narcissist to another.
This is a great short. I had a story idea many years ago about purgatory being an actual waiting room, and this just hits the nail. I think this could be expanded to either additional chapters or a longer feature. Good work 👏

Great work. Thanks for sharing. Would love to know what you're working on now. I've got a complementary pilot for a 30 min dramedy with a Fleabag x After Life vibe. Here's the pitch: ruclips.net/video/dJhUNZ0P2Ao/видео.html
Writer had lunch with a friend who said "I'ld sell my soul for a philly cheese steak right now."
Plague Doctor goes uncredited!
Dorian is a natural, gifted actor who held this film together and grounded it. Interesting examination of eternity, ambition and motivation, as well as the temporal.
is that lavendar town for the credits
👏🏻enjoyed this parody, ending up in a purgatory like that office, cannot think of anything worse 😂 Death seems quite a taboo subject .Im speaking from experience, having a terminal cancer, being close to death myself with palliative care. Its an ingenious approach , not only to death but to how we really spend our days whilst we are living and well.Congratulations.
Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, and I appreciate you for taking the time to watch it and comment 🙏🏼 Thank you for sharing your story. I suppose it’s just like Stanley… “I’m sorry. Is that what you’re supposed to say?” I am sorry that you’re going through this. But I’m glad you can find the humour in it, and as an old quote I heard once goes “death is so sad, we must laugh at it”. Really, it could be worse. You could spend 600 years to eternity working a desk job where not even death can free you! I’ve actually got another film with a similar subject. It’s very nearly finished, and will go through the festival circuit for a year before I release it online. But I’d like to share it with you, if you’d like to see it. If you have instagram, just message me on @erbillion and give me your email or something! All the best, and keep finding the humour in existing!
Guess I'm lucky living near Philly Had a cheese steak for lunch today
I know this sounds strange, but my final impression of this movie is the taste of a bit of aluminum foil in a crude sandwich. So unappetizing! Is that the way those things really look? Yuck!!!
Excellent short film. However, I've watched several of these wonderful brief films now and I've noticed that with THIS ONE in addition to many others, when 'closed captions' is activated, the 'cc' sentences that appear below have similar meaning, but many words are completely different than the spoken dialog in the film. Check it out.
Hate to tell you friends, but there is no purgatory and the office clerk chose hell. Only two choices hell for eternity of eternity in the Kingdom of God with Jesus. Chose Jesus.
The phone ringing was IRRITATING! Hard to keep watching.
The premise of this is really close to "A Pure Formality", with Depardieu and Polanski. Huge recommendation.
Really surprising incredible
I need to know what was in the bag that made him chuckle? I’m surprised that that wasn’t everyone’s first question. It looks like a baby gift, maybe his wife had just given birth? Very interesting! Glad I hit PLAY!
who da heck wrote the cc lines- are your ears oaky [not to mention the mind...]?
