The books of Skyrim are often overlooked. Rarely on our adventures do we find the time to curl up in front of a campfire with some charred skeever, mead, and good book. So, I've read this book for you! I'll be slowly uploading these short reads of Skyrim books. I am not a lore expert, so expect pronunciation mistakes. Great video, the commentary really ads a lot to the story, and I can appreciate the effort you put into the video and the script, it was really well written! There are just a couple of things my nerdy self noticed watching the video: 1. 0:15 The "inhabitants" are referred to as "Elk" in the credits. 2. The star(sun) doesn't gain mass, throughout their life. If anything, their mass is expelled. In a typical scenario (unary system), the expansion is usually due to fusion occurring further away from the star's core as it becomes more dense. 2.1. A general nitpick, but what we refer to as our 'Sun' on earth isn't a generic name for a star at the center of a system, instead it is derived from the latin word 'Sol' (derived from greek Helios), which is where 'solar' comes from in solar system. The correct terms to use would be star and star system (or planetary system). Since Outer Wilds refers to the star as 'Sun', this is not necessarily a big deal. However when referring to other systems (like that of the Elk or Nomai), without a named star, 'Solar System' and 'Sun' would not be appropriate. 2.2. with this in mind, the reason for the dam's rupture could be a combination of it's old age and the sudden movement away from the gravity of the star.. Perhaps the acceleration coupled with the weakening effect of it's gravity may have caused the dam to rupture, evaporation due to the heat of the star as it goes away is also a possible factor.. You can notice the water level rising steadily throughout the cycle, before reaching a critical point and exploding. 3. 8:56 After completing the DLC before completing the game on a play through, it's interesting to note that the Hatchling's story contains only what they have discovered at that point, and certain sequences might be edited or removed completely. For example if you had yet to explore the interloper and its consequences, the depiction of the Nomai's fate is that they simply fall to their knees and die, without any appearance of the Interloper or Dark Matter. 4. 18:15 there are 4 endings from this ring world, 4.1. running out of time on the ring world, you get the ending mentioned in the video. 4.2. running out of time inside the simulation ends with quite the poetic sendoff "How much time has passed? They dont even bother to hunt you anymore. Time passes, and passes, until your life before is some half remembered dream If only you could wake up". 4.3. As shown, the ending with the Prisoner will add a mysterious structure and the additional creature, however if Solanum isn't present, only the structure will be present, without the campfire bugs or the creature to look over them. 4.4. Not a secret ending, but the ending after walking into the water after the prisoner does shows us the title of the dlc. really cute way to end the storyline, really cute.

    I thought all the stars will eventually go supernova and the only way to rebirth life was by observing the eye so the universe will die if no one observed it, that’s why the eye was constantly calling for someone to observe it. It never occurred to me that by observing the eye you set the ending in motion?!

    I just have to say it loud, I think the scale in the game world would be much bigger for The Stranger, but because it's a small game, they kept it small enough to house a few people instead of making a huge, empty space like some games do. SO while the game shows a couple houses and bodies, in actuality it would have been much larger.

    26:39 They wouldn't need to be able to "cancel" a supernova, once they had the information they need they would just not fire the sun station and not cause the supernova in the first place

    i think the saddest part is that "The Prisoner" is doomed to stay trapped in his vault until the end of time. Even if you free him, you have to still die to reset the loop, undoing the rescue. Although, as i type this i wonder why the Prisoner never just blew his own fire out 280,000 years ago.

    There is something I don’t quite understand. The Nomai had warping technology prior to warping to this solar system. They actually got there by warping. The warp core on their ship seems to have a black hole and white hole tech built in. So, why was the phenomenon of arriving at the white hole a bit early new to them? If they were already advanced enough in the tech to build it into their ship as the main navigation system, why was the phenomenon new to them?

    I think I got another you broke space time ending that I never saw, I was in dark bramble going in the node after the escape pod 3 where you are supposed to go silently to avoid the fish. However, I didn't know about that yet so they rushed to me and I went backwards while they were pushing me inside the node, I went backwards and at this very moment he ate me, I guess that because I went backwards, the fish ate me but I was also present in the space of the other node

    • @en7435
      @en7435 13 дней назад

      if the nodes work similarly to nomai's warp portals (duplicating objects for a short time), this would effectively be a time-space break. If it is the case, it should be observable on the map of the solar system, with two "you are here" marks. I'm interested on trying it on purpose but it seems kinda hard to provoke lmao Great discovery !

    Considering that there's approximately 400 years of unremembered loops, one has to wonder just how many different adventures the Hatchling had. Sure, 22 minutes isn’t nearly enough time to learn EVERYTHING in one go. But maybe there's some wild stories that will never be told...

    • @pokemonfanmario7694
      @pokemonfanmario7694 2 месяца назад

      Imagine an AU where the Hatchling of the Probe Loop decides on a whim to follow the wayward probe as their first adventure, all because it looked neat. This subsequently meant they found the eye of the universe and started the next universe entirely without the need of being trapped in a time loop to begin with.

  • @Sovreign071
    @Sovreign071 Год назад

    According to the probe launcher, the probe was launched the ATP reset time ablut 2 million times. That comes out to just avout 400ish years of 22 minute loops. The question I have: before they paired with the statue, did the Hatchling have the same adventure over and over? Or was their journey a little different each time?

    • @arthurvandelay.
      @arthurvandelay. Год назад

      Before the (naturally occured) supernova triggered the ATP, the story is completely linear. The Hatchling was a coming of age hearthian who, 22 minutes before the supernova, was taking a nap before going to space for the first time. In that 22 minutes interval who knows what things the Hatchling discovered (not a lot of things given the little time, imo), but one thing is for certain: that they forgot everything once they died at the end of each loop. The loop starts once the original supernova occurs, so the Hatchling technically went to space for the first time for 9 million times

  • @rosefuneral89
    @rosefuneral89 Год назад

    I was actually pretty confused but the storytelling and origins of the Nomai makes a lot more sense now. I thought they succeeded with the sun station causing the supernova but what actually occurred was the significant time passing causing the natural nova which ultimately caused the whole process and continuous loop. Thanks for clearing that up. Well put together video.

  • @alexsimper4153
    @alexsimper4153 Год назад

    two things that don't work for me: 1 - how does the sun station send the energy necessary to ash twin if it is destroyed every time the sun turns into a red giant? 2 - why didn't the nomai just leave a beacon on the quantum moon and find the eye through it's six location?

    • @arthurvandelay.
      @arthurvandelay. Год назад

      The sun station didn't work at all. The loop is started only because the sun naturally exploded, which started the Ash Twin Project

I've finished it now (not the dlc) and while i couldn't piece the story together due to my impatience to just play the game, this video alongside the official wiki are bringing out a sharp emotional response. I'm especially sensitive to the longing that some of the nomai expressed to their missing friends and relatives. I have no reason for this, but for some reason it really brought out my emotions. Fuck...

    I think the tracking module falls into giants deep core when it fires and breaks apart, not before hand. The probe was only to ever fire once, when the ATP is activated and was overpowered to escape the suns gravity and find the eye in far orbit (causing it to break up). The landing in the ‘downward’ spout was just bad luck, or rather bad timing of the sun deciding ti supernova.
