Half year past and it's still much ado about nothing..

The idea of a 10% win rate on normal seems pretty wrong. I just bought the game like 10 days ago, and if you exclude the runs where I was achievement hunting (and made stupid choices to get them), my win rate on normal is at least 50 or 60%. Granted, I wasn’t playing it completely blind, but I still don’t know what the “best” strategies are.

Hearing how hard the crystal cruiser was to unlock is so wild because the very first run I ever did with my brother (who showed me the game) guiding me over my shoulder, as he watched me stumble upon every factor needed for the crystal cruiser 😂

Watched the FTL iceberg video, got back into FTL, started watching this video (15:40) because it seemed fun. Holy mother of god, your RNG might even be worse than mine, and I will miss an entire round of burst laser mk 2 twice in a row.

I didnt realise how lucky I was when I started playing FTL, the crystal cruiser were my third ship.

You’re going to make me go back and finally try to 100% the game by finishing the last 3 achievements I don’t have… (diplomatic immunity, and clash of the titans) also I’m a hardcore SRA fan… if obtained in the first sector or two, and then I sell it at the end. I’ve maxed out a ship this way with all scrap cannons. Also LRS is goatee, because it helps you farm ships. Also, aren’t the “ghosts” actually just the “AI” crew that activate when the crew all die in the flagship? Though they’re invisible and cannot be killed.

I am still absolutely furious that there is an ipad version of FTL but it has never been ported to Android FTL is such a perfect mobile game but it feels like they are going out of their way to stop thos happening

Tough, yes. Not sure about the fairness tbh, but it has the secret sauce that has you coming back every time.

Does it count as a powerless run if it was done on Easy? If so, then I've also done one of them. I'm also the guy who made the Bizzaro Mantis B run.

Played both PC and IPad. The IPad version rocks. Physically sliding up to power up your systems among other things sort of adds a level of immersion. Good fun

I could add: -save file cheat, backing up your save file for grinding the crystal ship. I really enjoyed this, after finishing the game on hard, I just saved after first, very pleasing, sector and played with this file for few runs. Great video. PS: Very pissed that there is no FTL2. PSS: Very pissed that there is licensed FTL Star Trek game. ST Voyager would be PERFECT for a FTL setting.

I learned a few tricks just from watching this video, Thanks! Currently trying to unlock all the ships again - something happened with my save file, I had almost every type B unlocked until a few years ago when I lost it all. These tricks will help a lot!

This game is so incredibly hardcore. Sometimes you get fucked by the RNG so hard with 30min long runs ruined in an instant but you just keep coming back.

You forgot to mention that rock ship type c’s crystal can skip several steps if you name them after the crystal crew you need in order to unlock the ship

I love ftl so much that when my pc broke I got winlator to be able to play it on my phone and now trying to add mods to it (please tell me if you know how to install java to winlator)

I never knew the AE update happened, i assumed i must have just missed all the lanius stuff when i played it originally. makes sense though.

Somethink that maybe is unknown, when a crew member is mind-controlled, you can use your mind control to undo it.

i been playing FTL since 2012 and its literally the first time ever i see any vid about it or anything related to the comunity, also doing some of the challenges myself without knowing they where a thing already

Your game is in 60 fps? Mine doesnt look that amooth and my machine is monstrous.

Advanced Edition made unlocking the Crystal Cruiser via the secret quest a lot harder. You need 3 specific events in specific sector types and since AE added more of both of those, the odds of getting the right events went down by a ton. Before AE came out, I was able to get to the crystal sector on 5-10% of my runs, but with AE I've only done it once or twice. Perhaps this is one reason one might want to turn it off?

it took me 22 hours to get my first win on easy! im now approaching thirty hours and still havent seen my second win because learning the engi ship has been its own challenge lol

The iPad version is great and it’s how I introduced my dad to the game. He’s probably played more than 1000hrs now
